They can’t, that’s why it sits there on the shelf. They just order another pack and what’s bent/bowed/warped that doesn’t sell continues to add to the pile.
The best thing that happened is when my local Bunnings flooded and they had to throw out all the warped timber so there were a few years when you could reliably get straight timber there.
For your homework tonight, you have builder's common numbers to learn.
1.8 metres
2.4
2.7
3.0
3.6
4.2
4.8
5.4
6 metres
There's no 6400 s ....... Just sayin, because i'm anal.
And you've just misgendered u/Beautiful_Rough421 by using "their" instead of the stated neopronoun.
If someone's neopronoun is "anal," the possessive pronoun equivalent would be "anal's."
For example:
* "That is anal's book."
* "Anal's phone is on the table."
It's important to use the chosen neopronouns respectfully and in accordance with the individual's preferences.
EDIT: Sorry to disappoint you all, but I am not a bot.
>2.42.73.03.64.24.85.46 metresThere's no 6400 s ....... Just sayin, because i'm anal.
He's saying he's not a lawyer [🤷](https://emojipedia.org/person-shrugging)... Ymmv
If you wanna be really anal, it's every 300mm. Starting from 300mm. 300, 600, 900, 1200....6000, 6300, 6600, 6900, 7200....11700, 12000, 12300...
Some are more common than others. Shit I've made laminated beams up to 15000mm.
But you can also get building materials like ceiling battens that are 6100. Metal external angles at 2550. Backing strip at 1190.
When I was building my attic, every trip to Bunnings involved putting the lengths on the floor, seeing it they rock, flip over and repeat. I’d put back about 2/3rds.
What really flipped me out was going through the little town of Finley and seeing the tiny lake and joking in my head that it was where the spanish galleon was from....then years later finding out that it's where Spiderbait grew up and my little chuckle was right all along. BtW it looks like they are playing at splendour this year.
They were piled up on a big trolley near the trade exit with a handwritten sign saying $30 (must be gone by 4pm)!.
It took me 3 trips in the Captiva to get them all home.
Right place and the right time.
Can say with confidence if its warped at some point it will be cleared. But if you want it now go to the trade desk point out shits warped and unusable and ask for a discount... the team member there might not be able to but a supervisor could if they don't think their ever gonna sell
We got discounted Ekodeck from Bunnings last month because the ends were all damaged. Fine for what we needed. Staff member couldn't do the discount, he had to get his boss. He said if it wasn't in good condition, they would probably throw it out. But he had an amount he couldn't go below. We got 5.4 m lengths for $30 each instead of $98.
Thats just dressed fence rails… its that bad because it isnt kiln dried.
It shouldn’t sit on the shelf that long. The idea is that once installed it dries out with a bunch of palings and other rails holding it in some kind of direction (thats the idea)
It works for the most part but have a look at some fresh paling fences after a week of hot dry weather.
They’l of moved a bit.
This is why I never phone or online order stock for a delivery. Always go in, choose your own, pay for it and make sure it's bundled together well so some prick doesn't sub it out for this shit.
Staff will often discount this if you ask - got a similar length that was snapped in half that I got for like $5 that suited my project (and saved me having to cut it in the parking lot)
Last time I tries that it involved about half an hour talking to 4 different staff members for a discount of about 10% on two 1.8m lengths of 100x100 dressed pine that were damaged.
Interesting - I’ve been charged for cutting before, on this particular trip I had my kid with me and their saw is at the other end of the store so I was just gonna use my cordless circular saw in the car park
Cutting in the car park means you know what your car will carry and came prepared. The geese are the ones awkwardly trying over and over to thread something through their car and finally driving off with the longest armed child sitting behind the driver so they can both reach out the window and hold it on the roof on the way home.
“Okay have you got a good firm grip kiddo? The on ramps coming up”
say what you want about Ozito. But up to 5 year warranty, just exchange that shit right over with no questions asked. If you're a tradie working with the tools to make a living then obviously not a great choice, but if you're a weekend warrior or you need a tool that would be thrice the price in Makita or Milwaukie to do a specific job then they're fantastic value.
I’ve seen plenty of tradies with ozito gear as well for things they don’t do as often (like sds impact drills etc) just take the high vis off before you walk in and exchange it for another one
The fellow who reroofed my house used timber like that to double up on battens. Cut into shorter, straightish pieces, it didn't really matter.
For myself, I've bought timber like that for a chookhouse but at a huge discount and not from bunnings.
People so precious.
It's fence railing. You fix it at one end, then because it's soft pine, manipulate it to go up against the next fence post. Fix that. Attach fence panels. Leave for 10 years.
I remember a few years ago looking at some timber and bunnings for a garden bed (the retaining wall type) and the bloke wouldnt even let me pick the ones I wanted. Majority were all bowed like this. Just left the store and went to a timber yard instead.
hi, i work at a bunnings.
we can't. please ask to buy it for cheap so we can get rid of it!
some managers/coords are fine with us writing it off, some insist on us selling it. if you can use it, pls buy it for literally a dollar or two !
Yeah I have used it for some exterior applications. Its cheap, rough and ready. Most of it is straighter than that but I had to pick through it.
Its not for building stud walls.
It can be used for formwork bracing or concrete formwork for paths can be used for pegs for that concrete bracing and I'm sure there are other limited uses for it
How else are you supposed to build your quaint nursery book house?

They can’t, that’s why it sits there on the shelf. They just order another pack and what’s bent/bowed/warped that doesn’t sell continues to add to the pile.
The best thing that happened is when my local Bunnings flooded and they had to throw out all the warped timber so there were a few years when you could reliably get straight timber there.
Fairfield Waters? They dug a big hole somewhere and buried the contents of that store somewhere. Such a waste.
they did that because people were going to the dump, grabbing the items and taking them into other Bunnings for refunds/exchange.
Or they throw it in the next home delivery run
How much of that 6400x42 h3 we got in trade? 120 lengths, ok, let's skip the next order
For your homework tonight, you have builder's common numbers to learn. 1.8 metres 2.4 2.7 3.0 3.6 4.2 4.8 5.4 6 metres There's no 6400 s ....... Just sayin, because i'm anal.
Did you say you like anal
More bent than the timber
You win today good sir, I tip my hat to you.
Not with 5.4 metre lengths but.
No they said they are an anal. I think it’s a type of flower
No that's Aloe. An anal is an open, artificial waterway
That's a canal, anal is a piece of pointy steel that keeps wooden things together
That's a nail, anal is when you get your marriage cancelled.
That's annul. Anal is yearly.
That's Annual. Anal is Indian cricket legend, Mr Kumble's first name.
Oh, the other end of Bunnings.
No, he is infact the act of anal in human form. Show some respect.
So much disrespect here. Anal is their pronoun.
And you've just misgendered u/Beautiful_Rough421 by using "their" instead of the stated neopronoun. If someone's neopronoun is "anal," the possessive pronoun equivalent would be "anal's." I think your high school English teacher would be angry with how you have used the English language for evil.
Name checks out....
This one made me LOL didn’t even see the name
Like he is anal, he invented it.
Way to take the man down a peg or two.
Anal pegging or two
Someone gets it
He loves good wood
Sounded like that to me

Hello anal, I'm daddy
6.0s. and don't forget the constant swapping between imperial and metric. 3' x 4' 6.0 long.
What happened to neglected 4.8?
You are right, i am wrong.... Cherish those words forever.
If you wanna be really anal, it's every 300mm. Starting from 300mm. 300, 600, 900, 1200....6000, 6300, 6600, 6900, 7200....11700, 12000, 12300... Some are more common than others. 2.7 is the most common length 6 are rare
They should be cutting it into smaller sizes or discounting it so the customer can buy it to cut it up
Yep, I've wasted many hours over the years finding straight sticks amongst the crap. All timber suppliers I've bought from are more or less the same.
When I was building my attic, every trip to Bunnings involved putting the lengths on the floor, seeing it they rock, flip over and repeat. I’d put back about 2/3rds.
Better to check with your eyes. The concrete can be pretty fucking out of level without looking fucked.
It's designed for pirate ships that use bent wood for a rounded shape
The unfinished Spanish Galleon of Finlay Lake
*Finley , but still an awesome local music reference. Thanks for kramming that in.
What really flipped me out was going through the little town of Finley and seeing the tiny lake and joking in my head that it was where the spanish galleon was from....then years later finding out that it's where Spiderbait grew up and my little chuckle was right all along. You’re f@&king awesome
Deep cut.
Love that CD
Has some great songs…
This sounds like something my dad would’ve said to me and I’d have totally believed it until about age 20 😅
Viking ship builder here. Can confirm.
Floki is that you??
The type where the front doesn’t fall off ?
Yep, no more pesky steam boxes needed.
I got a huge pile of banana wood from Bunnings for $30 a while back. About $600 worth if straight. Our vegie patch has a unique netting frame.
How did you go about doing this? Did you just approach a staff member and ask for discount?
They were piled up on a big trolley near the trade exit with a handwritten sign saying $30 (must be gone by 4pm)!. It took me 3 trips in the Captiva to get them all home. Right place and the right time.
I got a free door that way. It was a weird size and a bit grubby, but perfect to replace the fucking bullshit sliding door to my laundry.
Surprised your Craptiva lasted 3 trips!
Can say with confidence if its warped at some point it will be cleared. But if you want it now go to the trade desk point out shits warped and unusable and ask for a discount... the team member there might not be able to but a supervisor could if they don't think their ever gonna sell

Isn’t that the odd bunch section? Just like the carrots in woolies
> Just like the carrots in woolies Free stick of kindling for the kids!
I’m into woodcraft and buy most my timber from Bunnings. I’ve become quite renowned for my long bows and hockey sticks
Thats just dressed fence rails… its that bad because it isnt kiln dried. It shouldn’t sit on the shelf that long. The idea is that once installed it dries out with a bunch of palings and other rails holding it in some kind of direction (thats the idea) It works for the most part but have a look at some fresh paling fences after a week of hot dry weather. Did you say in the kiln, Broden?
*Get out of the kiln!*
I went in to get out my dvd box set of the crown that I left in there.
Aside from putting that in the kiln, why would you get it on dvd?
You don’t know what your talking about but anyway
My guess is by the length or lineal metre.
If by lineal meter, grab the super bent up ones, they'll be cheaper!!!!
> lineal metre. sure its not chordal metre ?
As the crow flies.
Need a GPS to navigate to the other end.
So does my wife
And by being open from 7am to 7pm.
This is why I never phone or online order stock for a delivery. Always go in, choose your own, pay for it and make sure it's bundled together well so some prick doesn't sub it out for this shit.
It’s for fencing around a corner.
Bend it like Bunnings
Staff will often discount this if you ask - got a similar length that was snapped in half that I got for like $5 that suited my project (and saved me having to cut it in the parking lot)
Last time I tries that it involved about half an hour talking to 4 different staff members for a discount of about 10% on two 1.8m lengths of 100x100 dressed pine that were damaged.
Just FYI, they'll cut in one their saw for free.
I’ve been told at my local they won’t cut anything treated for you…
Oh fair enough, I've never had an issue at mine.
To be fair I’ve asked a total of once and was denied that one time, could have been just that worker who didn’t want to cut treated stuff…
I’ve had a similar thing at Bunnings Bennetts Green, no cutting of treated wood.
Interesting - I’ve been charged for cutting before, on this particular trip I had my kid with me and their saw is at the other end of the store so I was just gonna use my cordless circular saw in the car park
Cutting shit in the car park is one of Australias cultural treasures
I did this last weekend at Port Stephens. I felt like a bit of a goose cutting in the car park but now I realise that's not the case
The on ramps coming up”
😂😂😂😂
The sheet good trolley makes a good temporary saw horse in the car park.
Usually you get 2 cuts for free. Then pay for the rest. Shit if they changed that rule.
They'll do about 10 cuts without charging if you bat your eyelids. (I take my wife and get her to ask at the cut shop section)
Can confirm, I’ve never once paid for a cut at Bunnings.
Does Ozito do timber now?
say what you want about Ozito.
Yup, exchange in casual clothes on a Saturday. No problem
Or just put it on your personal credit card, not company
Im a tradie and have used the orzito mud mixer drill for years every day to mix up gyprock compounds and the thing never dies.
Don’t you mean Craftright?
Craftright is all dogshit. Ozito is hit or miss
I laughed so hard at this I woke the dog up
Ozito have really improved since the ban on single use plastics.
It's either ozito or Rockwell responsible for sure
The ozito tools I have shit on anything ryobi. Except the cordless drill.
My doctor said it's normal to have a bent deck.
You can fill the holes with African cork.
It’s for the Ark Building community project
Maybe is selection bias and people pick thru and leave the bendy ones , so the straight ones all sold
It identifies as straight
Under-rated!
Pre-bent for your convenience.
For her enjoyment*
Most fencers have a wood straightening machine , shouldn’t be an issue 👍🏾
... and they keep them next to the skyhooks and striped paints in their utes. 👍
It's next to the bucket of grinder sparks
It's just a little bent, it's still good, it's still good.
It's gone
The fellow who reroofed my house used timber like that to double up on battens. Cut into shorter, straightish pieces, it didn't really matter. For myself, I've bought timber like that for a chookhouse but at a huge discount and not from bunnings.
People so precious. It's fence railing. You fix it at one end, then because it's soft pine, manipulate it to go up against the next fence post. Fix that. Attach fence panels. Leave for 10 years.
This is the way, but definitely ask for a discount anyway. You might get a few bucks off for perfectly useful timber.
Garden arches?
If you were to build an Opera House replica it maybe useful.
It’s usually rough sawn wet rail that is like that.
Yep. Kiln dried timber is like finding a four leaf clover. Bastard sleepers weigh a tonne because they are sopping wet.
So it fits in the Range Raptor cab?
They prey on Ignorant young diy noobs such as in Pakenham and Clyde region.
Maybe someone wants to build a Viking longship? DID YOU EVER THINK OF THAT!!!
Dah, don't buy it... No-one else has
Forbidden giant French fries
I remember a few years ago looking at some timber and bunnings for a garden bed (the retaining wall type) and the bloke wouldnt even let me pick the ones I wanted. Majority were all bowed like this. Just left the store and went to a timber yard instead.
Boat building?
isn’t in banana wood ? wrong ticket ?
They'll come in hand one day when someone decides to build The Big Fries to go with the Big Banana/Merino/Pineapple etc.
When I first saw it, I thought it was a pile of Macca's fries blown up.
It's pre bent so, when the builder makes the wall wonky it can straighten out over time
It would appear they can't.
Wood*
Thanks dad.
We used to pay a premium for this stuff to build our skateboard ramps 😂😂😂
hi, i work at a bunnings. we can't. please ask to buy it for cheap so we can get rid of it! some managers/coords are fine with us writing it off, some insist on us selling it. if you can use it, pls buy it for literally a dollar or two !
I make boat
Wanna build a boat?
Within ASNZ XXXX tolerance of -/+ 5% over a distance of 5mm.
Boat building material is expensive mate
They don’t, that’s why it’s still there
Same problem. Will never buy timber from Bunnings again. Softwoods is dead straight & usually cheaper.
That’s about as straight as my uncle
Looks like mine…
Budget cuts.
could these be steamed straight?
Just grab the straight ones and leave the bent ones
they can't that is why it is still there!
Guess which bits get delivered if you order online...
They sell it because project builders buy anything..... she will be right the contractor will fix it.....
I use it to make canoes
Would you like a 10% discount on that one sir?
Just iron it out
They can’t. That is why it is all still there. People are smart enough to sort their lumber before they buy it.
Yeah I have used it for some exterior applications. Its cheap, rough and ready. Most of it is straighter than that but I had to pick through it. Its not for building stud walls.
The worst part is that you'll see similarly shaped rubbish inside with the dressed timber.
It straightens out after install
They can sell it you don't have to buy it
It can be used for formwork bracing or concrete formwork for paths can be used for pegs for that concrete bracing and I'm sure there are other limited uses for it
Prefect parts for steamboat Willie
It’s premium, dude.
I can’t see what’s wrong with it?
Ohhh which bunnings, I need a bent fence to go round a tree and that s shaped one to piss off the other neighbour.
Not at that price the local Bunnings will reduce down to $2 and board, great to rip them up for small bit of timber at home project
When will people realise, Bunnings are dodge. Literally the Coles of Hardware.
Because they've driven everyone out of the home-gamer market and they know that 99% of their customers don't know of an alternative place to buy from
That pile is for delivery, for online orders
Shoot one edge off, be straight as a die /s
It's for fencing around the dam.
https://preview.redd.it/w3m7p4goe8nc1.jpeg?width=1065&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38e6a27a9fbb2bc27ff3664ef7fb8db43a9b7c6a
They can't sell it unless you buy it
Still ok for noggins yea??
Tuneup can sell what ever they want, you don’t have to buy it.
Gotta be scrap
This is basically firewood. Even the fire would be twisted and bent.
They usually end up selling those pieces for $2 a length
Aren’t they also owned by price gouging Woolworths (Westfarmers)? If so this is an obvious rationale.
They wait for someone to place a web order for delivery. Ask me how I know.
How else are you supposed to build your quaint nursery book house? https://preview.redd.it/u2wfks2lg8nc1.jpeg?width=799&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39a1e7130c2aa03f7fb81b5f82456c85ee25d06d
Depends on the grade that it's being sold at. The really bad stuff can still be used as noggins or short lengths. I buy slings of merchant grade at auction and never waste any.
The amount of times I bought wood from them and it continues twisting beyond use...
You've heard of crazy pavers, now new from the warehouse freestyle fencing
Is that in their ship building section?
I fixed it like this: Before https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/s/M6HPFuihZl After https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/s/8W6PIxWBDW Although it was straight when I put it in…
Yarrr she looks already shaped for me keel n ribbing
Bananas!!! Great for going round corners….
Looks perfect for a lot of the fences i see going up around my workplace
Those are special order to build boats
They’re hoping someone will buy them to cut up & use as noggins lol
I don't know about you, but i sure as hell won't be using fence rails as noggins
