You’ll spend more than 150k

icametolearnabout

Call a pool mob. They will give you a price range in a minute. Get 3 quotes to calibrate the likely cost. I was quoted $2k a lineal metre in seqld last October (a 7 × 4m pool is 22m lineal metres) so a 25 by 5m pool for 60 lineal metres eg would be 120k but of course you have optional extras, fencing and landscaping - long how is a piece of string type of thing. So, 150k would be a minimum. You need to factor in all the other stuff that comes with a pool build when budgeting.

Much of it comes down to the type of access. A 25m pool where they can drive machinery in and out and clear the excavated soil with ease is a lot cheaper then having to excavate with specific smaller machines through narrow access etc. In saying that though, even with clear easy access, a 25m pool once all said and done with filtration and pumps plus fencing/landscape will be well over $150k.

Cheapest way to get a pool is buy a house with a pool.

canned_coelacanth

A pool that size would be classed as commercial in terms of construction and filtration. So it will need to be stronger, include control/movement joints, and will need a really big filter and dosing setup. You will also probably be unable to use skimmer boxes, and instead have to use a wet deck all the way round further increasing costs. To keep the pool residential sized you should keep it under 100 square meters (from memory this is the cutoff). Unless you have a lot of money to burn I would very much suggest you pick a smaller size. Or if you're in the country, just build a dam, and be OK with the water being a bit murky.

25m length pool will be well over $150k easy. We paid $80k for a 10m length x 3.5m width pool (concrete) in Sydney.

bucknekid72

Do you mind me asking who did you use? And did that include tiling, fence and equipment?

lfc1979

How long ago was that? I paid 90K for fully tiled pool plus another 4K for fence.

yakyakblah

Paid $124K for 25x3m pool 18months ago. Plus fencing. Going to 25x4m was going to cost heaps more (apparently significantly more or thicker steel would be needed) Heard friends being quoted $80k plus 12-18 month wait for 10m pools at the same time.

carpe_scrotum_

Narellan Pools quoted me $80,000 for a fibreglass 7m pool. "It's what everybody pays, the average." Scale up from there.

Just_a_neutral_bloke

This has been really informative, thank you all. From the sounds of it 150k is probably the diving off point (pun intended). Probably ambition > appetite for now at least.

UpVoteForKarma

I wonder how many admissions to the local pool it would buy......

The_Marine_Biologist

At my local it would be 18, 291 visits. So about 50-100 years depending if you swam every 1 or 2 days. Of course you have to share the pool with an interesting cross section of society.

phreeky82

Costs vary greatly - concrete vs fibreglass (not many options at that length, but there are some), width and depth (you've not stated), site access, and the big one being what else you get done (i.e. paving). I think your 150k limit is probably close enough to realistic that it's worth getting quotes.

I would suggest looking at alternate building techniques. Rediwall looks like it could be suitable but i dont see it being used for pools, only large water tanks... it cant be much different?

Hi, I am a swimmer and I just built a house in Queensland. Part of moving to this wacky place was that I got a lap pool. We have shit H1 highly reactive soil here. First I found a fibreglass pool. As soon as the installer heard it was H1 he turned away and wasn't interested anymore. Then I got an online quote for a concrete pool. First quote was $108,000 in 2022. By the time September 2023 came around that had morphed into $248,000. (and it probably still would have cracked). So being the bogans that we are, we went for an above ground 25m x 3.1 (outside coping to coping) 2.75 on the inside. Pool cost $82,000 plus $3,500 for the electrician, and $3,000 for the earthmover. I'm also paying $3,500 for the reel, (reel is $1710) someone to install the poles and reel for the pool cover. I ordered it with a heater so when the pool reel and cover is installed I can heat it and swim year round.

FuckLathePlaster

Why 25m exactly, are you keen swimmers/have a kid who swims competitively?

Just_a_neutral_bloke

I enjoy swimming a lot, at the moment I’m swimming a few k every day or two at the local pool. Would be nice to be able to do it once or even twice a day. Just for fitness and fighting the dad bod growth.

Profession_Mobile

I got a quote for a 6m pool before Xmas and the quote came back as $70k so I would say it’s double that
