So fast. I remember they were the holy grail of lizards at my grandmas house in south Texas. We could catch anoles all day but never these. Till one day we caught two. Brought them home and released them into our backyard hoping we would see more there eventually.
you just stay very still, I like to go out and sit in a chair in the shade with a book/podcast/audiobook, and after about a half hour of me sitting very still the lizards will get back to roaming my yard.
It's funny, sometimes when i get up to go inside, a lizard will be a only few feet away from me, then they recognize me as something other than an inanimate object, and make a mad dash for the woodpile.
Try waking up at dawn and sunning your naked, recently shed skin in the morning sun. Periodically consume flies and small spiders.
If your SO comes outside, quickly slither underneath the decking or under a pot (difficult).
Slowly they'll accept you and eventually come meet with you and give you interesting side quests.
You can search your images on Google for fast results. This isn't a rude comment either, I just installed Google Lens and I take pictures of flowers, insects, and lizards on the regular just to know what it is lol.
The Texas spotted whiptail (Aspidoscelis gularis) is a species of long-tailed lizard, in the family Teiidae. The species is endemic to the south central and southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Six subspecies are recognized as being valid.
That's "Fred's cousin" we got a few around they really friendly and enjoy the heat of the fire pit, he's really cool. They help out after we cut the grass or chop wood. 😂🫶👍

I’ve only caught maybe 5 in my entire life haha they were so fucking hard to get
How do I keep them around and not scared of me. There are so many outside my front door every morning. I just want them to be comfy and chill

I'll let you know how this goes. Lol
That’s Jeffery.
Bros been dodging me, owes me $30 from the bar the other night.
He’s good for it, moneys tight right now
Not to be confused with Frank the spiny lizard or Steve the anole.
Steve got me into push-ups, what a guy!
Frank of course being kinda antisocial but you can’t blame him, and Steve is a natural performer who everyone loves
He's the best, right?!
So great
