I actually caught a moment last weekend and toadie said to wife that his mum was having some health issues and that Dad was having another issue and things were getting tense back in the fish pond. So wife suggested he need go visit and help out cause the other brother fish wasn't having much luck. So there's a dad.

The only reason it ever stayed in production as long as it did was because of UK audiences. Australia as a whole basically gave up on the show ages ago. It was gonna get canned but then a UK production company stepped in to save it because it was still popular in the UK.

Because stupid channel 10 took it off their 6:30 main channel slot and put it on peach or bold or something back when the digital channels were still very new and nobody watched them.

Yeah, I believe it was Channel 11 (aka 10 digital before they had all the cute names).

It fell off before then though, UK has been keeping it alive since the early-mid 2000s.

1.2 million viewers for the finale in Australia is what really saved the show though 

Amazon has that much money I figured it was someone in their organisation that didn't want the series to end.

While on this topic of Neighbours being saved, how was the new series continued on from what was meant to be the finale?? In the finale some of the characters had left to go abroad & some old characters came back. But the actors for the old characters like Kylie Minogue & Guy Pierce I assume were not planning on continuously coming back for a new series, only for the one finale? So new actors for those characters or a case of pretend the final never happened?

I know there was a 2 year jump I think the majority of the actors stayed on and some left (and were replaced by different actors) and others were just a guest appearance just for the finale Edit: forgot to mention the replacements
