It would be nice to have scan data to see if the desired and actual sensor voltages mirror each other while driving. On our service I mostly see a lot of hits to remove the throttle body and EGR valve, take a frayed old speedometer cable and spin it in the port. A coat hanger would work too. Some say it's obviously clogged at the throttle end. You can also remove the upper intake for access.

Another note. Recently I tried a dorman valve which set the code soon. Ended up using a Standard Motor part, the electrical values weren't right.

This one the carbon collects right past the t-body. Pull the t-body off you’ll see it. Be very careful of the vacuum lines.

Blocked EGR Tube– The tube that carries the exhaust gases back to the motor may clog up over time. Alternatively, it can become bent or kinked. This is especially true if you are experiencing P0401 right after doing some engine work. Check the tube and see if it is cracked, clogged, or damaged. Faulty EGR Valve– The EGR valve is usually not the place to start. Vacuum Issues– The EGR valve relies on the engine vacuum to recirculate exhaust gas. So, if you are encountering P0401 and other codes, the P0401 may be a symptom of larger problems. For instance, if the motor is not running well enough to create a sufficient vacuum to operate the EGR system, P0401 will often be thrown. Sensor Issue– The Differential Pressure Feedback- EGR sensor can go faulty and cause the EGR valve to stop operating properly and throw the code. There is the hit list.

Dollars to doughnuts it's a clogged catalytic converter. I've got a $20 solution for them. Fill gas tank 1/2 full and add 1/2 a gallon of LACQUER THINNER (NOT paint thinner or acetone only lacquer thinner burns hot enough). Then run it at hwy speed for about 20 mins. Your welcome.

I just unclogged the EGR port had a penny size of carbon buildup that turned into a rock. I will Definitely give this a shot. If the check engine light comes back on.
