The fact that the op posts this and 13 hours later hasn't come back to give any more info does make me wonder if this is OP just taking a picture of grocery store brisket they microwaved then stuck on here to karma farm.
If this is real, people need to know what place to avoid. Also, you see this, just walk out of the restaurant.
Maybe if tbe brisket was not pot roast jerky lol. Saddest brisket ive seen in a min. As a matter of fact, im gonna say ive never seen brisket that bad in person.
But ya, $15 for a lb isnt bad at all, otherwise.
Go to jerky sub or jerky group on fb… ya will see wild chit.. At first I thought people were trolling but naw they are dead serious. A whole group of idiots encouraging it makes ya go wtf!!!!
I’m on the jerky subs here. I don’t think I have it in me to look at jerky posts on FB :D
Not to toot my own horn but some respected meat cooker friends say I do a good job.
There was a guy on r/airfryer that was posting pics of a brisket he did in his air fryer…it looked just like this.
Even over there they were dragging him over the coals for that abomination
It looks like someone was pounding their meat. But that isn't a pound of brisket by any stretch. And its nasty looking - hence the reference to jerking off.
It looks to be pretty well received. The pictures online with the reviews would've gotten me to try it. I have no idea what you did to deserve that dog food slab though. It honestly looks to be a week old and reheated a time or 5 before.
Damn! Looks rough.
Reminds me of the time last year I was at the Big E (New England fair) and I came across this BBQ stand that had a 1000gal smoker. It smelled so good. I thought “wow, this place is going to be good. They seem legit.”
Spent $15 on brisket and slaw. Brisket looked just like that. Devoid of any smoke flavor. It was so bad lol. Never buying bbq at a fair again.
I still think about it from time to time when I’m smoking out in my backyard. Like dang. You’ve got a beautiful 1000gal rig and you produce what looked like oven baked brisket?? I don’t get how that happens.
I've had a ton of luck at Jamaican places, but had one that was terrible. I swear the ribs must have been boiled or something and the most bland sauce
What's the point of lugging around a smoker if it's just blowing smoke for funsies?
I took my Chinese-national roommate out to barbecue in Providence one time with the idea of “showing him MY food culture”. I proceeded to have an experience very similar to OP, AND the BBQ sauce had mfing vinegar in it and was the consistency of water 🤢. New englanders are not to be trusted around barbecue.
Name and shame.
I live in central Texas so BBQ is everywhere. There's a good joint near me that sells a 3 meat platter for $25 and it includes 2 sides - the sides are heaping, as are the meats.
I usually add a jalapeno sausage to mine (another $7 +/-) and get 3 meals out of it. And no, you cannot see any part of the tray when they serve me.
Man you should have asked the"pitmaster" to step outside for a fair one. Sure you probably could have gotten a refund, but that's not the point. Do it in the name of good BBQ.
As a SC boy who gets an aircraft carrier full of pulled pork for $12, I just don’t know what all yall westerners are doing paying $35 for one rib and a sliver of brisket. Maybe asceticism is just the way out there. 🤷♂️
I would like to point out that everything about this checks with the menu. $20, half pound brisket and a side. All pics online of food from this place look like this. Wow.
If they're going to serve portions that small, they should at least use an appropriate sized tray so they're not emphasizing the empty space so much.
also, the brisket looks like crap.
As a former pitmaster and BBQ owner who knows brisket well, there's not a doubt in my mind that the brisket in the photo is at least one day old and reheated. It could have been free and it still would have been trash.
Consider buying brisket, trimming off 30% of the fat and whatnot, rubbing with seasonings, then cooking it while babysitting a fire for 14-18 hours (the equivalent of $100-$200 in firewood and charcoal burned in a $3,000 or more smoker, using pans and foil and butcher paper and plastic wrap), and during that cook the brisket loses 50% of its weight to moisture loss and fat rendering.. by the end, that brisket is worth its weight in gold. Until you pay for that loss yourself and stay up 26 hours straight to execute BBQ business prep and service, it’s tough to understand the pricing.
That all said, the brisket pictured looks poorly executed, dry as hell and probably not even smoked. Mac looks swollen and overcooked (lol Fat Mac is cultivating mass). Is this the kind of joint where they keep everything hot all day and just scoop and go? Definitely doesn’t look appealing..
I refuse to buy sides anymore. We wanted to get a lb of pulled last night and the sides were 4.00 and about that side.
The lb with buns and sauce was still 27$. i was a bit surprised
Is the food normally better? Did you do any due diligence (look at customer photos in reviews on Google maps or similar).
I mean that's definitely shit BBQ, and to have paid for it is frustrating but the risk you're always taking when you're not making it yourself.
I would tell them that their home isn't funny and they can either load up the tray like it should be or they can refund my money because I'm not accepting that little for $20.
Thats a fucking crime. I thought my place was bad...20 bucks for 6 ribs.
It's kind of sad that the only good and affordable BBQ places near me are chains now. Mom and pop stores have increased their prices dramatically... and the quality is no better.
I had to go to the Washington State Fairgrounds last weekend for a thing. There were three other people and they all wanted brisket.
I ordered the brisket sandwich with cowboy beans and a 16 oz iced tea.
The brisket was overcooked the beans were undercooked and the tea tasted strange. Wasted 20 bucks.
The other three people raved about how good it was. I honestly couldn't understand it.
I'd have returned it and left the restaurant. Only reason I didn't last time is because I was there with 2 other people I didn't know very well yet. But it was almost exactly this portion but it was pulled pork. I was livid! I couldn't afford the meal to begin with at the time, and I still had to go get supper afterwards because I had no food in the house. Ate this little thing and 4 chicken BLT'S from Wendy's and I was straight.
Ive realized now that I’m becoming a much better bbq’r, doing all sorts of food. Even that cornbread, Anyways the flavours that I’m making are so good that every time I go out for dinner anywhere,
I’m generally disappointed
BBQ is wayyy too expensive at some places.
Popular BBQ place near me charges 12 dollars for 1/4 lb of brisket.
With no sides or anything, absurd. Went to try them once because people raved about it. Was fine but nothing great.
This reminds me of a little place on Hwy 395 in Walker, California I stopped in about 20 years ago. 18 bucks for 2 slices of smoked brisket, fries and slaw. Just goes to show there's still highway robbery going on out there.
That brisket is an affront to God and Texas. You are duty-bound to inform the Rangers so they can levy the appropriate punishment. Brisket abuse is a serious crime.
$5 of Poorly cooked Brisket
I know food prices are silly because of overhead... but thats a little steep unless you are in California... Which would make sense with that terrible excuse for BBQ
I’m pissed too
Its so bad i almost dont believe OP, tbh Edit: OP says this is from Papa Diesel in Apopka, Fl
The fact that the op posts this and 13 hours later hasn't come back to give any more info does make me wonder if this is OP just taking a picture of grocery store brisket they microwaved then stuck on here to karma farm. No I just forgot I posted this last night.
Oh man, I was hoping this was fake and posted for fun. No reputable business should charge money for that.

Maybe if tbe brisket was not pot roast jerky lol. Saddest brisket ive seen in a min. As a matter of fact, im gonna say ive never seen brisket that bad in person. But ya, $15 for a lb isnt bad at all, otherwise.
My jerky looks nothing like that.
Go to jerky sub or jerky group on fb… ya will see wild chit.. At first I thought people were trolling but naw they are dead serious. A whole group of idiots encouraging it makes ya go wtf!!!!

I wish I could unsee that now
That Brisket is 'The Notebook' sad.
that cant be a pound , 2 small slices?
Yea no way that is a pound. Maybe pre cooked weight? Lol
It looks like a hair under a half lb to me
It looks like someone was pounding their meat. But that isn't a pound of brisket by any stretch. And its nasty looking - hence the reference to jerking off.
$15 for THAT brisket sounds outrageous
Pissed BBQ $229
As am I. Damn.
What da hell is that lol That’s why unless I’m in Tx or Kansas City I don’t eat BBQ unless I’m making it
You gave them $20...they gave you $2 and kept the change
this is the way. i feel like it never worth it unless you spend $100, they keep $60 then you get $40 of food to fed 4 ppl. lol.
Are MFs so non-confrontational that they won’t ever just say “No, this isn’t acceptable.” ? This post is just rage bait BS
I feel like every mom that kept calling the doctor for their 20-year-old really fucked some people over
Name names so I can stay the hell away.
Yeah wtf this is food internet. Giving a restaurant a bad review isn’t a form of doxxing lmao
Yes please, I see the OP is in Orlando. I’m in Orlando and I wanna know so I can avoid this abomination.
Wait, this is in Orlando? That's where I am too. I need to know the name of this abomination of a BBQ joint.
Yes same!! I have a suspicion I might know where this might be but I don’t want to make any assumptions until OP confirms…
Papa Diesel. Apopka, FL.
It looks to be pretty well received. The pictures online with the reviews would've gotten me to try it. I have no idea what you did to deserve that dog food slab though. It honestly looks to be a week old and reheated a time or 5 before.
People down here just don't know what BBQ tastes like.
That’s like $10 for a packet soup. Fuck that!
I had 40 cent school lunch BBQ that was more food and looked better growing up
That’s fuckin disgusting
Damn! Looks rough. Reminds me of the time last year I was at the Big E (New England fair) and I came across this BBQ stand that had a 1000gal smoker. It smelled so good. I thought “wow, this place is going to be good. They seem legit.” Spent $15 on brisket and slaw. Brisket looked just like that. Devoid of any smoke flavor. It was so bad lol. Never buying bbq at a fair again.
Damn that’s tragic. I’d be super disappointed
I still think about it from time to time when I’m smoking out in my backyard. Like dang. You’ve got a beautiful 1000gal rig and you produce what looked like oven baked brisket?? I don’t get how that happens.

If they were smart, they’d put this on a smaller plate.
Geez. Where was this?
Papa Diesel. Apopka, FL according to OP
This is too bad to be true. Name and shame.
You left the counter with that?
BBQ = Boiled Beef Questionable
Was this BBQ joint in England? Was it called Ye Olde anything or The Stump and Kettle or something like that? 🤔
Is that brisket? Looks dry as fuck.
Looks like it was reheated and nuked in the microwave...
Their brisket is a great beef jerky.
Hands must have been thrown.
Pearls were clutched.
That place should be forced out of business for defaming the great reputation of BBQ.
Wow the price of beef jerkyhas gotten crazy
BBQ places rip people off like crazy. They act like smoke flavoring is truffle oil.
This is r/BBQ not r/GoldenCorral. 🙃
Don't forget the tip
*cashier turns the screen around and it says 20% 50% 75% Uhh.. yeah. No tip
You know it’s bad when the meat is the least desirable looking thing on the plate
I live in TX. No way a place serving that would survive. That's some east coast BBQ right there.
damn, you got finessed
School cafeteria food is leaking into r/bbq I would've paid in pennies only
I would rather spend this $20 on McDonald's
Looks like some "Famous Dave's" boiled "BBQ".
Looks like your missing another meat and side. Bbq is like wings. Prices have just gotten out of hand
That’s oven brisket gahhhh that’s aweful.
Name and shame. I live in central Texas so BBQ is everywhere. There's a good joint near me that sells a 3 meat platter for $25 and it includes 2 sides - the sides are heaping, as are the meats. Did it taste good at all though? Looks like a plate for ants. 🐜
Seems like quite a value if it was at the Four Seasons in Manhattan.
Four Seasons Landscaping has better BBQ
Sure, but the chance of meeting Giuliani is too great to chance it.
omg that meat, wtf
If they're going to serve portions that small, they should at least use an appropriate sized tray so they're not emphasizing the empty space so much. also, the brisket looks like crap.
What's this? A BBQ for ants?
Lmfao
Boiled brisket ?
They always get you on the sides. Screw them sides.
Why isn’t this marked NSFW?
Didn't know beef jerky.was so expensive
That’s closer to 30 in jerky unfortunately
10 dollars, and I'd be pissed.
pot roast and Kraft Mac n Cheese :D
OP you better tell us where this is so it can be avoided. Don't be complicit.
Did you grab the tray before they finished serving?
I gasped
GTFO! Someone needs an ass whippin.
OP ate half of this shit before posting bruh😂🤣😂
Looks worse than my kids school lunch
I’m pissed for you.
I can taste the disappointment in that brisket from here.
That's some dog meat bro
Do whatever you can to put them out of business
Shoe leather BBQ. … and folks were mocking a $7 taste of heaven on another thread.
Thats a refund
Not only is it overpriced, but it looks like an *even worse* value because they don’t know how to plate for the portion size.
This is what was leftover after you ate, right? Right?
Why did you buy it?
As a former pitmaster and BBQ owner who knows brisket well, there's not a doubt in my mind that the brisket in the photo is at least one day old and reheated. It could have been free and it still would have been trash.

Shitty brisket, shitty price.
Grey meat is the best! 😉 😂
That’s a sad enough excuse of a bbq meal to make a person Vegetarian!
Everyone’s saying they’d be pissed but, this is basically what you get for 20.00 now. I hate 2024
You got played
Meat doesn't even look good.
Damn. There’s a lot of bad BBQ out there. Also makes me feel good about what I make at home
Did it come with complimentary floss?
wtf, that’s not even a fucking snack
Did they boil that meat?
Lmao how's that 20$? Where is it so I never go there?
For $20 I'm assuming I bought the aluminum tray and I'm taking it with me!!!
Where's the smoke ring? What the hell did they serve you?
Where at
The giant tray with so much empty space makes this worse.
i'm fighting someone if they give me that
you need a refund
Looks like bandanas BBQ to me
Is that roadkill?
I’ll fight someone to defend that cows honor
I refuse to buy sides anymore. We wanted to get a lb of pulled last night and the sides were 4.00 and about that side. The lb with buns and sauce was still 27$. i was a bit surprised
I gave the lochness monsta $20 last week
Is the food normally better? Did you do any due diligence (look at customer photos in reviews on Google maps or similar). I mean that's definitely shit BBQ, and to have paid for it is frustrating but the risk you're always taking when you're not making it yourself.
Is that US dollars?
I would tell them that their home isn't funny and they can either load up the tray like it should be or they can refund my money because I'm not accepting that little for $20.
Looks like microwaved brisket
You ate it and paid? I would have walked out
EWWWWW! 🤮
what fuk no sauces
surely this isn’t in texas.
This made me laugh, thank you!
They should get smaller trays
What is this, a meal *for ants?*
They had to have forgotten something that was supposed to go on the tray lol. That’s absolutely ridiculous lol.
It was the tea you ordered to wash it down.
And I’m sure they busted out the scale to make sure you don’t get a gram over of that lackluster brisket!
Thats a fucking crime. I thought my place was bad...20 bucks for 6 ribs. It's kind of sad that the only good and affordable BBQ places near me are chains now. Mom and pop stores have increased their prices dramatically... and the quality is no better.
looks like dickeys… priced like it too

Where is this? So that I make sure I never go there.
Yesterday I got briskets and they skimped me. Came with green beans and sprouts for 28$. I felt robbed
That’s when you take your receipt, walk the plate to the counter and ask for a refund and money for your time in line to wait for this farce.
California style?
Look at the microwaved brisket.
Are you in Alabama by chance?
Lmao
so give it back and ask for a refund.
Lmao that looks like Famous Dave's.
I would have returned it and did a reverse charge on my card
[Is this a crosspost from r/airfryer?](https://www.reddit.com/r/airfryer/s/Hp9bRvshA0)
That's about $17 too much
Just wait until you receive those medical bills for eating junk like that.
I'd have returned it and left the restaurant. Only reason I didn't last time is because I was there with 2 other people I didn't know very well yet. But it was almost exactly this portion but it was pulled pork. I was livid! 20 bucks? That'll be 65 in Austin
I don't doubt it when an Arby's brisket sandwich meal is about $13 after tax.
It’s nice that they reuse the leftovers from the previous table.
Is that old meat that they reheated in the oven or what? Looks sad
That barely looks edible.
Alright, I feel less bad about my brisket I posted yesterday. Maybe I should open a restaurant.
Screw that. Send it back and leave.
Mac and cornbread look good but somebody murdered that brisket.
Shit is grey my guy
Ive realized now that I’m becoming a much better bbq’r, doing all sorts of food. Even that cornbread, Anyways the flavours that I’m making are so good that every time I go out for dinner anywhere, I’m generally disappointed
Wtf? Portion size alone, this looks disgusting.
But the plating of that muffin in perfect center is to die for. Im surprised this wasnt 40$.!
yo what the fuck is that
That isn’t Jim and Nick’s is it?
Leave it on the counter. Get a refund and move on. Not eating that crappy looking dog food
BBQ is wayyy too expensive at some places. Popular BBQ place near me charges 12 dollars for 1/4 lb of brisket. With no sides or anything, absurd. Went to try them once because people raved about it. Was fine but nothing great.
That's weak
This is why I don't trust bbq spots that don't sell meat by weight.
That warrants jumping over the counter
This reminds me of a little place on Hwy 395 in Walker, California I stopped in about 20 years ago. 18 bucks for 2 slices of smoked brisket, fries and slaw. Just goes to show there's still highway robbery going on out there.
You know you can just say "no" when they present this to you.
That brisket is an affront to God and Texas. You are duty-bound to inform the Rangers so they can levy the appropriate punishment. Brisket abuse is a serious crime.
$5 of Poorly cooked Brisket I know food prices are silly because of overhead... but thats a little steep unless you are in California... Which would make sense with that terrible excuse for BBQ
This is why I don’t go out for bbq anymore.
Literally, it looks like a meme I saw earlier. I will post it here
Lol you must not live in a prime city. That is very normal.
That’s bad enough to just hand back to them, say no thanks, and walk out without even asking for a refund.
They should just stop trying to act like it's a feast. Put that big ass tray away and put that food on a paper plate.
I look at what others have before buying. A lot of crap restaurants out there.
I’m getting my money back at this point.
Name and shame!!
That looks like raccoon ankles.
I agree shrink inflation over the last 4 yrs has hit everything…..even my cereal boxes has gotten smaller….. I would have walked and not paid… sorry
Not that I’m saying these prices are right but this place should use smaller trays so you feel like you got a decent amount.
Where the hell was this so I know to avoid. I'm pissed for you.
Without exageration I can say Ive found more appealing looking brisket under my couch.
That’s boiled with liquid smoke added.
This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life
