If you have any leftover bread or pastry: rough chop, fill into a loaf pan and soak in a brown butter custard (add well-paired dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, aromatics - miso/ caramel/ coffee). Bake over waterbath. Let cool, slice and toast. Serve with compound butter, caramelised yogurt or ice cream of choice. If there’s no leftovers to be worked with: Twice baked chocolate cake or if you’re feeling more like fruit-based: rhubarb tart with burnt white chocolate custard filling

Chilly_Grimorie

Stuffed snickerdoodles. Specifically stuffed with apple pie filling. Homemade or canned filling, your choice.

carbaordbox

who in their right mind decided to fill snickerdoodles with anything and why the HELL did i not know you could do that sooner. thank you for such a mouthwatering suggestion

Chilly_Grimorie

You're welcome.. I had the idea but I haven't made them yet. I used to make a snickerdoodle crust for apple pie but I lost my recipe so I figured I could just stuff the cookies.

I have a cookbook called All Cakes Considered, where she is someone who bakes something every week. It's the best cookbook ever (particularly if you listen to NPR in the US at all). The recipes get progressively more complex, with detailed instructions for techniques without ever coming across as boring, condescending, or overly complex. A little story accompanies every recipe as to where it came from or why she loves it. Terrifically written book. Highly recommend.

Not really baking, but is a dessert I don’t see in the US often: briadeiros. Easy to make & tasty Brazilian chocolate balls. They’re a chocolate mixture in the middle that has a caramel flavor covered in sprinkles. [This recipe](https://www.iheartbrazil.com/brigadeiro-recipe/) is pretty close to how I make them as I use cocoa powder and butter. Others use chocolate milk mix and/or no butter. This isn’t something that needs measuring.

Have you ever made poptarts? They’re such a fun and tasty treat. Another thing you may not have made before is alfajores, but they’re a little harder.

Bougatsa- I’m on a kick to discover more international baked sweets.
