I think the food is good, but nowhere near good enough to justify those prices. Not even close.

KeokiHawaii

And my time is worth more then the prestige of eating there. There are several alternatives that are just as good IMHO and cheaper. Of course, for the instagramers and influencers, Jai Fai is a must eat.

TravellingPenis

Haven't been yet. Care to share what these alternatives are?

I don't eat a lot of crab omelettes but personally I like Nhong Rim Kong near Ekkamai. If you are looking for a more fancy restaurant, may I refer you to [https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/dining/food/best-crab-omelettes-to-try-in-bangkok-restaurants-like-jay-fai/](https://www.lifestyleasia.com/bk/dining/food/best-crab-omelettes-to-try-in-bangkok-restaurants-like-jay-fai/)

Amazing!! Just what I was looking for. I'll check it out today, thank you :)

I think I would never go to any "popular" place on purpose. I enjoy all kinds of khao pad's near my place for 60 thb on a daily basis

But those are gross though, let's be honest. The sweet spot is somewhere between your grubby spot and J'Fai and luckily they exist :)

Mealthy_the_Mealworm

I get a really good crab omelet for 240 baht at a semi-upscale riverside restaurant outside of Bangkok where I'm staying... judging from the pictures its very similar, too. So no way I'm trying a 1400 baht one!

Most-Cardiologist762

chunky piece of fresh seafood made for westerner who are used to chunky steak style meat. food is fresh but its more of a wow factor thing. its good but after tasting it once pre michelin that was enough esp with the massive queue

gotchock

It's good. But it's still overrated. And definitely not Michelin star good.

cheesomacitis

Overrated and too expensive. So many wonderful places to eat for cheaper

Consider this. In 2024 a crab (not even lobster) omelette at Jay Fai's costs about 40 USD. One Star or not you'll be sitting on plastic chairs in a hot humid city without air conditioning. You'll arrive only to have to wait for hours...in the heat...with no air conditioning. By comparison. A set 2 course lunch at 2 Star Michelin Savoy Grill by Gordon Ramsey in London costs 70 USD! You'll arrive at the appointed time to be warmly greeted and seated on comfortable chairs with linen covered tables...in a climate controlled environment! Enough said.
