Ari/phahonyothin area is great and upcoming. nice to walk around too and alot of hip new cafes/restuarants. much nicer then ladprao or phrakanong. well connected with bts and mrt too
Phranakhon. Older side of Bangkok, very quaint and slow. Connectivity via the boatways or by grab.
Khao San and Rambuttri is a long, pretty walk away. On the other side is the university area which has a charm of its own.
Check out the hotel Phranakhon Nornlen.
Yes! We stayed near Wat Ratchabophit in March after four weeks around Thailand and really enjoyed this area.
Great place to calm down and chill at Mini-Lumphini around the corner (Saranrom Park). I found this neighbourhood so laid back and authentic and loved its beautiful klongs and cute architecture. Some nice streetfood too.
Metro Sam Yot and even the river taxi were both close enough for us to get around as well.
Bang na... specially sukhumvit 105 alley from one end to the other near bts bearing spot super quiet good prices 5 min motorbike ride to bts 20 min into downtown asok stop is about 25 min on bts
There really is nothing particularly cool about Lad Phrao, it's just a well located area, pretty indistinguishable from dozens of other suburbs.
You could try Huay Khwang, Ratchada, parts of Rama 9, Thonburi etc.
Bangkok is dense. No matter where you go, it's a smiliar feeling. Just pick a spot on a map and go. Research the area and get moving. There's office, working class areas, to the seediest spit suck shops you ever seen.
Hey everyone thank you so much for your responses! Based on your comments I will be splitting my time between Ari, Bang Na, and Phranakhon! Thank you all again

Have a look at the area around Sathorn sois 10 & 12

I also recommend Bang Na. Punnawithi is another area I enjoyed staying in.

Check the area along the way BTS Talat Phlu - Saphan Taksin.
Sathorn meets our needs 💝🇹🇭
Bang Nam Phueng, Talat Phlu, or Ko Kret
Saphan Kwai
Places that are cool hip and suitable for foreigners are saphan kwai and the next few stops, Yen Arkat near Sathon, and prakanong to bang chak bts.
Makkassan
how about krungthep kreetha
Ari probably fits the bill. I also like the area around Central Rama 9 and Jodd fairs market (Asoke-din daeng)
