when I started researching on how to increase my vert I didn’t really know what to do either, asking on how to get better is always better than not doing anything in my opinion
How tall are you? I'm a 33 year old 5'8" man but I keep dreaming I can dunk (really, its a recurring dream and it's awesome haha). I'm not sure it's possible for me but I also am not sure it's impossible either... what exercises do you feel help the most? Was there a particular source when you began researching that you really liked when it came to information on how to improve?
6‘3 - 6‘4 something like that. At first I did like calf raises and squats and then box and drop jumps, step ups, lunges, square jumps … stuff like that
How tall is your standing reach? If you have long arms for a 5’8” guy then you’ll have an advantage. Realistically you need to jump at least 6-10” above the rim to dunk the ball depending on how well you can palm it. Subtract your standing reach from 126 inches (10.5 ft). This will give you the bare minimum vertical needed for you to dunk.
I have +4” wingspan, so my arms are 6’1” tip to tip. Not sure my vertical reach but that’s helpful to know! I’ll measure it then do the math. I’m a ways off but man how cool would it be to roll up and dunk at my size? Haha
Edit: standing reach is 7’8” so 92”. 126-92 is 34” Not sure what my vertical is now.. I’ll test that next.
i’d say start dunking on low rims if you have access to those to build consistency and familiarity with jump technique. In my opinion everyone should be able to jump off both 1 and 2 feet. and experiment with all types of trick dunks, the trick bag and the vert will increase
also rest is important
You gotta lean back a bit more before you plant to jump to get more explosion. You’re too vertical at the lift off point. I wish I could explain it better, maybe somebody else can. Or try youtube videos on jumping form.
What I’m trying to say is that I think you can add another couple inches with better form and will be throwing up highlight reel dunks soon .
Just want to double down on the GT academy being a great shoe at a reasonable price. May need to replace sooner than others but you can get two pairs for the price of one GT cut 3
Would you recommend these for outdoor courts? Brands don’t seem to cater to outdoor players with their soles anymore, which is totally fine and understandable. But it’s tough finding a good shoe that doesn’t get eaten up by outdoor surfaces.
You: i started going to m to the gym and now i jump higher Everyone else: hOw cAn i iNcReAsE mY vErT????

That was a very emotionally mature response for a 15 year old

I bet you can get it done. Unrelated but you would be insane at rock climbing with that +4” lol
Ya I rock climb as well :p I’m good but let me tell you, strength and technique matter a wholeeee lot more than wingspan haha.
Let’s go!!!
Chosen One
😂😂
But for real tho, looking good! keep it up!
Thank you dude
Nice. Next time you should throw the ball over the fence to celebrate
😭
nice hops man
Vert life boi get them gains!
Impressive for someone so young, stick with it bro!
I’ll keep working on it for sure
Good for you to put in the work. It ain’t easy to keep a routine like that.

I actually started dunking on low rims and raised them as I got consistent
that’s dope af. how’s your two foot jump ?
Not as good as my one foot jump but I got a few dunks still

I do that at my two foot jump but this just feels more natural
👍💯💥
Ball must be gone every day
sadly ur right 😂
I know the fastest/easiest way to dunk… Lower the hoop!
Actually did that till I was able to throw it down on 10 feet
Now raise it to regulation
🤡
Sick bounce man, what shoes you rocking?
GT Cut 3s, best hoop shoes in my opinion
Nice I have the GT Academy and they are fantastic shoes

Yea the cut 3s are hella overpriced

I don’t have them for that long but they seem pretty durable
not 10 feet
there’s always someone envious
brother you are 6’4’, you should be dunking easily without any training . and that rim looks 9’6”
It’s even 2 inches higher because it stands on something thats higher than the street but keep hating it won’t get u shit
na his ass is def hating, don’t give a fuck abt what he gotta say
no one is hating you posted a video to a public forum and should expect to be critiqued . definitely not over 10ft . where’s the proof ?
You're def a hater
