I have videos recorded with my iPhone in Plitvice National park in Croatia that look exactly like the OPs video. The water is so clean there that the fish seem to be floating in the air.
My videos of Plitvice don't look like this, can you post yours so we can check you just aren't mis remembering? Its literally impossible to get a video like this without the filter to remove reflections. Even it it was just a sheet of the most perfect glass on top of dirt you would still get a reflection on it.
https://youtu.be/3GJvdYl62bI?t=173
The lake is pretty flat and clear in calm weather but it clearly still has tons of reflections.
It's going to depend on the angle of the sun, and other brightish light sources. Polarizing filters take away some (not all) reflections, so they help a lot but you can get the effect without them.
You can hold a polarizing filter in front of the lens, or even use polarized sunglasses if you have a pair handy. Filter holders are available for smartphones - here's one: [https://hoyafilterusa.com/products/exapro-filter-clip-for-smartphones](https://hoyafilterusa.com/products/exapro-filter-clip-for-smartphones)
Rotate the filter until you get the desired effect. They're also good for skies and eliminating glare from wet surfaces.
Whew boy did I just remember that time we all thought it'd be a good idea to watch Pan's Labyrinth while we were on shrooms. That opening scene where the face gets bashed in was just too much. Plus with how real that shot looked just... Yeah.
It wouldn't look like this in person. The camera has a polarized lens. It filters out the light reflected from the surface, so it turns into less of a mirror, and more of a window. The water does need to be reasonably clean as well to get this effect, but nothing crazy.
Polarizer removes reflections, not turbidity, which is why the water itself is so clear beyond the surface.
The water is likely clear because of the green life within filtering it, it's from a spring, and it's shallow. There are minimal reflections likely because of a polarizing filter on the camera lens.
Buddy the filter isn't making the water clear. Don't care what kind of lens you have you're not going to x-ray vision through dirty murky water. Less glare doesn't clean the water.ย
ย Source: I'm a pond
Turbidity has nothing to do with the motion of the water, it is definitionally how clear the water is. Water turbidity is affected by things like suspended particles, or even the presence of chemicals like chlorine or ozone, weirdly enough.
I think youโre confusing glare from the sun with murky water lol. If the water werenโt clear, it wouldnโt look like this regardless of what kind of filter you use on the camera

Whether they truly are polarized or not - they rarely function as it
You can tell something's polarized if it makes it really hard to look at many electronic screens
Most sunglasses are polarized for the same reason - filtering out reflections in bright conditions allows you to see better. You can get polarized glasses that don't also significantly decrease light (meaning, not sunglasses), but they aren't quite as common.
Yeah I. My country the northern half is very much full of clay, the southern half is chalk. So the streams in the north look dirty and the south looks clean but it doesn't actually tell you anything about bacteria or pollutants.
No fish like that in pupu springs. Not enough oxygen. In fact that goes for most springs, you can find fish further downstream of course, after the water gets a bit more oxygenated, but the water here is way too still to be downstream from pupu.
There is a fish farm right by pupu springs though that uses the water and presumably oxygenates it, I guess maybe this could be there? But Iโd expect more fish and the sound of generators.
Source: pupu springs is my favourite place in the world
If we knew what kind of trout, that could help. Sweden would likely only have Brown Trout. New Zealand has Browns and maybe also Rainbow trout, both being non-native. NZ is famous for gin-clear waters.
The headwaters of the Snake river used to look like this. Huge trout swimming around with colorful blooms sprouting in the crystal clear water. I haven't been there in a long time, it may have changed.
And this is why I wear blue reflective polarized sunglasses for ocean fishing. It's like xray fishing to cut the glare off the water surface and see into the depths ๐
It's like that in my state, Montana. I can go to the park I like to walk my dog and the irrigation ditch that flows from the river is even like that.
And Lake McDonald at Glacier especially likes to show off.
Clear doesn't necessarily mean clean. And clean doesn't necessarily mean clear, either. Could be both in this case, just beware of ultra clear water in nature.
The water is clear but the cameraman also used polarized filter on their lens.
Came to say this too, that has to be the case.
No its just the lens
Take my r/angryupvote and leave
What was the joke here, I don't get it? Can someone explain?
It's just the lens. Not the case, in which the camera is carried/transported
Oh I get it now
Now, can we get back to the flying fish?
Oh yeah, how is that fish even flying? Is it a new species?
Fish have been around for millions of years
"The case" has two meanings "what happens here" and the object : a camera protective case
๐๐๐ Now get out
I bow out
๐
Now get back in!
I am back in
God tier comment
Mfr 360 no scoped that pun. Legendary status
Actually, it's just the filter.
A polarizing case.
Yep, it cant just be clear water or just polarized lens. Both are needed for this clean of a view under the water.
I am surprised nobody mentions that the water must also be pretty still for the invisible water effect to be able to happen.
And the fish have to hold in their shits.
Just like human models
The hardest part of the job
No I think models eject food from the intake orifice.
Kinda goes without saying i guess
You also have to have a camera and the sun has to be out.
You also need to be in a place where the water is, and someone will have needed to give birth to you.
No one has given birth to me yet, do I need that?
Even if you have forgotten, I believe you already got one birth.
Happens when you respawn
You also need a planet
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
This shot would look nothing like it does if it wasn't for the fact that the batteries aren't dead.

I instaly thought of Plitvice when I seen this too
Me too
Plitvice Onelil?
Funny guy, that Plitvice

I canโt upload a video right now but here is a photo example https://ibb.co/HDLXKG7
Dam, you delivered, nice dude
It's possible if you can angle yourself to avoid reflections and the water is extremely still and shallow.
It's going to depend on the angle of the sun, and other brightish light sources. Polarizing filters take away some (not all) reflections, so they help a lot but you can get the effect without them.
Yes like in 'fishing' sunglasses
Dumb question: smartphones dont have this function? You need "real" equipment?

Thanks mate! I have some very clear lakes where I can see fish with polarized glasses, wanna try this trick.
Brewster would've been proud.
Flying fish!
I could stare at this for hours
I could eat a peach for hours
Give me back my face!

Terrible movie on mushrooms FYI
Whew boy did I just remember that time we all thought it'd be a good idea to watch Pan's Labyrinth while we were on shrooms. That opening scene where the face gets bashed in was just too much. Plus with how real that shot looked just... Yeah.
Try the David Bowie Labyrinth next time. Also to add my own experience, The Revenant on LSD was a poor choice.
First time I did shrooms I watched Freddy Got Fingered. It was a blast. Laughed so hard it felt like I did stomach crunches the next day.
Mars Attacks is an excellent movie on mushrooms though if you need an idea for next time.
Ack ack ack
Holy shit I'm watching that next time I shroom for sure.
That non-Cage brotha looks like Chester Bennington. Miss that guys passion in his live performance, great voice, rip.
Whee! What a predicament!
"DIEeEEE!!!?"

I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
How is it so clear?
Seems fishy
Good work
Haven't you guys ever seen flying fish? Don't be fooled!
Boooo! Here's your upvote ๐ก

That just means that the water is still, not clear. It's 90% the filter with a linear heterochromatic polarizerย Source: I'm a photographerย

Obviously the water has to be somewhat clear for this effect. Fucking redditors argue anything
No we don't
I think youโre confusing glare from the sun with murky water lol. If the water werenโt clear, it wouldnโt look like this regardless of what kind of filter you use on the camera Source: critical thinking skills
Would it be possible to make a pair of glasses with those kind of lens for when your fishing? (Or just enjoying the view of the water)
Must sunglasses outside of gas station level of cheapness are polarized.
Dollar tree have sunglasses with polarized lenses.
Whether they truly are polarized or not - they rarely function as it You can tell something's polarized if it makes it really hard to look at many electronic screens
Polarized sunglasses were invented in 1936. You are nearly a century behind the times.
Most sunglasses are polarized for the same reason - filtering out reflections in bright conditions allows you to see better. You can get polarized glasses that don't also significantly decrease light (meaning, not sunglasses), but they aren't quite as common.
so clear the fishes look like floating in air
I just wanna see how my turd would levitate for once in my boring life.
Special lens. Or video editing, if not.
Filter but not filtered
Because it's ultra clean
It's mana rich water imported from middle earth.
As a citizen of middle earth, can confirm
Are you a grey kushmaster, or a white one?
A green one
That is the correct answer
Clean water and Clear water are completely different from each other.
clean != clean?
Hahahaha yeah sorry it was supposed to be "Clear != Clean" hehe sorry sorry
Clear and clean are not always the same . This is super clear water and probably clean since there is lots of life .
In fact, water contaminated with toxins is often crystal clear as nothing can grow in it.
Or really hot, like those super heated pools that are extremely clear and rich in minerals?
yea, I live in a country that's famous for having very clean lakes, but due to mostly muddier bottom, it's not very clear.
Yeah I. My country the northern half is very much full of clay, the southern half is chalk. So the streams in the north look dirty and the south looks clean but it doesn't actually tell you anything about bacteria or pollutants.
I genuinely thought these fish had reached the next step of evolution and started levitating lol.
It looked like serpents or dragons flying above a forest lmao
New Zealand?
I'm thinking it's Te Waikoropupu Springs...I did a project on it at school years ago, live on the other island and have yet to see it in person ๐
No fish like that in pupu springs. Not enough oxygen. In fact that goes for most springs, you can find fish further downstream of course, after the water gets a bit more oxygenated, but the water here is way too still to be downstream from pupu. Maybe Its the amount of time I spend with my kids but pupu springs made me snicker.ย
Correct me if Iโm wrong but I think it might be Sweden, they do have a few waters that are as clear as this from what I remember
If we knew what kind of trout, that could help. Sweden would likely only have Brown Trout. New Zealand has Browns and maybe also Rainbow trout, both being non-native. NZ is famous for gin-clear waters.
Feels like we should see more reflection of the sky.
Polarized lens
.... birds running into windows suddenly seems a lot less stupid
There is no water! These are new species of fishes, the one which can fly.
Clear != Clean
A lot of the clear glacial streams around here donโt support much fish because thereโs no food in it.
The glacier streams I've seen in Alaska are gray from all of the silt, they will clog a water purifier almost instantly.
The headwaters of the Snake river used to look like this. Huge trout swimming around with colorful blooms sprouting in the crystal clear water. I haven't been there in a long time, it may have changed.
My guess is those are trout and thatโs the head of a spring.
Straight up thought those fish were flying. Now I know how crabs and lobsters feel.
Clear water is not always clean OP.
Wow!!!! Beautiful and pristine!!!
Wow.. where is this?
Clear water can also be a sign of high levels of acidic water. Not saying this is the case, but many clear lakes are clear because of this.
I don't think so! Where is this place?
Beautiful! Where might this be?
Skyrim.
I used to swim in water like this, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Nooooo!
Clear water, always doesn't mean clean water.
clean =\= clear =\= clean
Anything for likes. Your eyeballs wonโt see the same in real life
Trout are so majestic
camping tip: clean water doesn't mean it's safe for drinking.
Where is it ?
I was looking closer to see if this was potentially AI generated ๐คฃ Kaleidoscope eyes looking at earth's beauty.
I cannot express how good it is to see a video with the actual sound instead of some shitty-ass music. Those birds in the background are so soothing.
I am way too fucking high for this right now. This shit got me giggling in public
What water? Was it somewhere around those levitating fish?
Why no one is demanding to know where is this place at? Is it in Alaska? Or Vietnam?
You mean clear not clean...im sure under a scope you'd see little things moving around.
Never touch the stuff. Fish fuck in it.
And this is why I wear blue reflective polarized sunglasses for ocean fishing. It's like xray fishing to cut the glare off the water surface and see into the depths ๐
Lawl most lakes and rivers looked like this only some 200 years ago in US.
Polarized filter as well Iโm guessing?
Oh, no, you are mistaken. Those are just the levitating fish.
Well this leaves out America and the UK ๐
Hampshire's chalk streams can look like this.
It's like that in my state, Montana. I can go to the park I like to walk my dog and the irrigation ditch that flows from the river is even like that. And Lake McDonald at Glacier especially likes to show off.
Which is more believable? Ultra clean water, on our crappy Earth? Flying fish?
Resisting the urge to pee in it
I really thought this was AI or something!
Damn it saddens me to see people who cant tell ai from real pics/vids.
criss angel if he were a fish and if he were good
Amazing!!
I refuse to beleive they aren't floating mid-air above the ground
Never been so jealous of a fish fr
Nope. Floating fish. /s
That's so dope ๐
These are Australian flying sharks. Gotta look up for them, theyโll swoop you quicker than a Drop Bear.
Nah, those are flying fish.
Michael Scott would definitely fall into that category
Whereโs the water?
It's not loaded in yet.
Need to do a hard reset if your textures ain't loading in.
Clear doesn't necessarily mean clean. And clean doesn't necessarily mean clear, either. Could be both in this case, just beware of ultra clear water in nature.
Clean? It's full of plants and fish
i would say less ultra clean more ultra still
No Water MOD
This is so pretty
They fly now?
Looks like a Utra clean water pro max xtreme in ultra XK reality ๐
Nah that's fake, those are called flying fish.
That's where they take birds for a field trip fr fr
Flying fish!
Flying fish!
This is next level clarity
The fish is floating/ flying ๐ตโ๐ซ
This would be an awesome screensaver.
I bet those fish would taste amazing living in water like that
Floating fish
Fish eating birds must love this pond
Beautiful
I could love to rent my apartment to indians near there
Pretty nice.
USA company: We detect oil over there...
Amazing
Wow ๐ฎ
I can imagine a planet with a dense atmosphere and then the animals are just flying around.
