The only reason I believe they are in this situation is because the writers want to show them confronting a trauma.
Guts needs to face sadness in the eye because he can't escape to anger anymore.
Casca needs to confront what happened to her because hiding in a mental regression doesn't make it go away.
i am SO upset about that. almost as upset as i was about the eclipse honestly. like, griffith sacrificed all of his comrades, raped one of his most trusted subordinates while another one of his most trusted subordinates (and the only person griffith seemed to feel some genuine tenderness and affection towards) was forced to watch, and then after a long time of casca being so traumatized she was mentally regressed and couldn’t care for herself and guts had to go through hell fighting demons, getting her back, and going on a huge ass journey to get her mind restored… and griffith just snatches her up and imprisons her in his kingdom. and for what? what does he want to do? to have control over her again? now that she’s not regressed, he needs to imprison her himself? and i’m assuming he wants to lure guts as well, because he knows that where casca goes guts goes. is he wanting to conquer them both? the two that he wanted power over the most and who slipped away from him first? ugh
I think it is mainly to neutralize the Moonlight Boy and prevent him from leaving Falconia. But perhaps there is an additional motivation of controlling Guts and Casca.
Just read this part yesterday and if he can trauma dump that much onto Casca and she not run away then not only is she a real but she is the one for him
i mean to be fair she’d been through awful things too. growing up in a small village, poor, sold off by her father as a sex slave to a noble, almost raped when she was like 11 and taken in by griffith and forced to become a warrior as a young girl. people constantly taking advantage of her and undermining her skills because she’s a woman. the one person she vowed to protect was missing at the time she and guts had sex and she had to step up and take responsibility. she understood a lot of his pain and nearly committed suicide. guts being vulnerable was probably really refreshing for her
her father didn't sell Casca as a sex slave, she was supposedly hired as a maid, her father didn't know the true intentions of the nobleman. And she wasn't forced to become a warrior, it was her own decision to join Griffith.
Especially if you take into account what Farnese later says about this moment. Something along the lines of "*crying* Why are you (Casca) like this towards Guts. Why does it have to be you that means so much to him."
I don't think Guts wants revenge. Remember what Godo told him, chasing revenge is a fool's errand and look at what he did at the end of conviction. That iconic panel shows Guts realizing that the only person that matters is with him and there's no need to go after Griffith.
He has made the mistake of going after secondary goals while ignoring the the most important thing. He did that in golden age as well as black swordsman. And paid dearly for it. He wouldn't do that again. He wouldn't leave Casca. He wouldn't have gone after Griffith if Casca wasn't kidnapped.

But I like to think Miura is more creative than that and whatever he planned for Guts to say there is something well beyond my understanding. I know he has passed on, and we will probably never get to see those words, but I still like to imagine it.

The fact that he still sees her as the strong brave captain he once was, despite how broken she is, proofs that no matter what, he will keeping respecting her and loving her.
