to be fair PIP is just code for paid interview period. Almost unheard of for someone to recover, the odds were never in your favor.

Ok_Frosting_4396

Focus on the quality of the work you delivered instead of immediately reacting to it. There is no way they can give you a sometime if your quality are above sometime. Make sense ? Unless that senior is a doichbage that target to retaliate you

OP, I don’t know the situation that well, but you’re clearly not taking feedback like a professional. Constructive/unprofessional/right/wrong whatever the feedback may be, it’s good to take a pause to breathe. Immediately saying it is your seniors fault shows a lot of immaturity, and no offense, but no one is going to move you to consulting after a childish display. Better to critically review the feedback and discuss with your counselor why it’s not accurate and how it should not impact your performance review.

Johnthefuturecpa

I mean there are a lot of shit seniors

TrainingPhysics1224

does it matter? if OP cannot behave like an adult and throw a tantrum, it still means they'll be delivering a lot of low quality work in the future. Figure out how to pull the necessary instructions from your senior, figure out how to bring it up to the manager or SM, learn from your peers (and expand your network) etc. etc. I would say take the criticism like an adult - aka. the work I delivered is not client ready and not up to standard, and figure out a way to learn that's not dependent on the luck of the draw. Having said that, do try to apply to get out of shitty teams ASAP.

Llanite

If you rely on someone else providing great explanation to do your job, you won't do well in consulting. Not only there is practically no instruction from your boss, you have to interpret the client's nonsensical attempt to tell you what their problem is.

Neat_Criticism_3077

Sounds like your senior is a douche. Remember those years. I did make senior partner and I call out the douche seniors who throw people under the bus to compensate for their own shit abilities.

Vorlironfirst

Try consulting, OP.

AnswerBeneficial7820

That's what they want you to think, probably quiet firing now. Please never ever undervalue yourself because of Big 4 managers feedbacks. It's like being judged by a huge shit. I wish you the best buddy and hope you find a nice place to work elsewhere.

Jaytranada4

You might find consulting more enjoyable. There is quite a rigorous process involved with a transfer though (my friend recently went through it). The consulting partners round up all the hopefuls and line them against a wall and proceed to throw rotten fruit and vegetables at the subordinates. It’s a big test of resilience. The last men/women to be standing are allowed to transfer. The rest are pointed and laughed at off the premises. Might be worth getting some practice in with friends, family or people you know and trust.

Big-baddy-daddy

And they wonder why people just switch to a competitor to transfer lol

sd_pinstripes

that feedback doesn’t really mean much unless they also communicated that you aren’t likely to get promoted

Avenge_Willem_Dafoe

Unless its pwc where 3 years is still the majority. If most of your reviews after A2 are 2 out of 5, there is a strong liklihood of Pip. If this is a one-off review for a side project youre fine. If its consistent feedback for your main job, they might be throwing u under a bus

Same here! I just stayed up all night and came up with my plan a and plan b for my future to exit accounting and switch to finance. Fuck that shit, we're under appreciated and underpaid. I also have a meeting with my counselor today so we are in the same boat. I'm just gonna straight up tell of my future plans that I'm not getting my CPA because I dont wanna be an accountant. I know this doesnt help but just know youre not alone lol.

NEPatsFan128711

I’ve thought of this but i feel like finance is so broad and the job prospects aren’t that great (in comparison to accounting.) obviously if you’re talking about high finance roles, then yeah those are prolific but hard to obtain. Regardless, I hope you find something you enjoy more. Life’s too short to do something you don’t like

NoCombination8756

Yeah you could say that its broad, but like you can specialize in any niche industry you want in finance and gain skills that not many other people can do if you like the industry you're in. You can add just as much value to a company as a CPA can, if not more. Take a look at FP&A. I'm looking to start out as a financial analyst and work my way up, its also a great start to a path in becoming a manager, director, VP and eventually CFO. Thats why im going back to get my MBA sooner rather than later. The ending opportunities are better for finance in my opinion vs accounting. For example if you pivot to a revenue accounting role next youre gonna hit a dead end.
