well im not the biggest weight lifter, but I do play sports, and instead of guitar i primarily play percussion (which is also very arm intensive). I will say sometimes it is a struggle, just being so sore from everything. but as time goes on, you will get less sore cus thats like, how building muscle works. Basically the best advice is to just power through it for a while

TheHulkAJT

Yeah,I'd thought so too,to just try and power thought it. But idk, that just seems so fkn hard. I just don't want to just be so "unmotivated" simply because I can't feel and or use my arms and will probably struggle to play, and I don't want to just not play (ofc, duh lol) because I still want to improve I just don't know,it's a whole damn bag of worms lol

ThingFromTheEther

yea it sucks. however just make sure you stretch and stay hydrated and you will be fine

TheHulkAJT

Yeah. But yeah, that too,whenever/if ever (lol) I actually decide to start to do it I'll definitely remember to do thos things. So yeah, thank you for your input!

I lift weights on pretty much a daily basis, do cardio a few times a week, and play a few instruments (none of them are strings that I play consistently, but I can offer my advice as a brass player (my main instruments are Trombone and Euphonium, I semi regularly play Trumpet and/or Tuba, and I can play a tiny bit of guitar and a little more violin)). I have found that it doesn’t hinder it too much. For the most part it might ache a little but it’s not going to prevent you from playing, and if it is you may be diving in a hit too fast. I mainly play Trombone and so I obviously use my arms a lot whilst playing; I very rarely have any issues due to lifting, even after a very arm-heavy workout. The only thing is that if you are having a big thing (big rehearsal, gig, concert, etc.) you may want to lay off a bit for those few days just to be safe.

TheHulkAJT

Thank you for your input! And yes, that last part does make sense, well all of it does, but you know what I mean lol

If you’re not consistent, you will be very sore, maybe even in pain, after you exercise. Be consistent and the soreness goes away
