It is absolutely insane how the conversation turned to demanding Joe Biden resign, as if Trump is just another normal political candidate who simply out debated him

nalgas80085

Didn't even out debate him. Was just louder. Like yeah, that's the stuff I want in a president... loud af.

Maxfunky

It's far harder to think of responses when you constrain yourself to honest answers. If you have no compunctions about simply making shit up on the spot, you'll never struggle for an answer.

upvotechemistry

This is what kills me about Biden's team... they thought the right move was to prepare Biden like this was a normal debate against a candidate that was wrong on the policy merits.... but they should have known Trump would just gaslight him up there if he tried to keep the discussion around facts and figures. Did nobody on the debate prep team think "what if Trump just lies all the time?" ... THAT is the real political malpractice here

mtron32

Preach, he needs a comedian to come in there and get him ready to go next time, fuck the issues because that's not his goal. His goal, is to not look like a corpse and to go below the belt while not boring the viewing audience.

DatsaBadMan_1471

I had said to a friend why isn't Jon Stewart helping Biden with debate prep.

__THE_RED_BULL__

This would have been the big brain move for the Biden team. Alas....

mtron32

Obama gave them the blueprint at the correspondence dinner, but neither Hillary or Joe has looked back on it. They keep trying to take Trump to school with all these facts and Trump is just saying shit. You can’t battle this cat the same way you would Romney or McCain, gotta battle the person in front of them and they keep failing

stellarinterstitium

And it's not like Biden couldn't have handled the lies if properly prepared. Taking the gloves off of him would likely have woken him up. Biden is an old-school politcal pugilist mover and shaker with the gut instincts to go for the jugular. Let Darth (I prefer this over "Dark") Brandon unleash Trakata style on Trump, or at least Vaapid FFS. Especially because Trump absolutely goes to peices when punched in the mouth and looks even more ridiculous as a serious proposition.

upvotechemistry

Trump is easily provocable, and the strat should have been to goad him into a frothing rage in front of the voters. Rough him up a bit, and piss him off...

0OKM9IJN8UHB7

You could see Biden trying to do it in the debate, he got Trump to bite several times but didn't get much farther with it. I think it was a mix of Biden being not 100% that night and Trump is now scared enough I think he was actually trying there.

Ali_Cat222

Trump literally shared his notes from his advisor by accident to the entire damn Twitter universe a few hours before the debate! you'd think they'd have been alerted to that and used them so they knew what points to talk about. For fucks sake, he had all the notes right there, they should have used them against him!

Danni_Les

This. This is what I've been saying.. Biden's team should've prepped him with deflecting the lies with an answer that's very simple to call out like 'nope' or 'didn't happen', and just carry on with the debate with FACTS rather than even attempting to address one of his lies.. we know trump will lie - it's all he's been able to do all his life.

Capable_Roof3214

Isn’t that the whole F-ing problem? Everyone going on as if any of this is normal, especially for a prez candidate 🙄 I’ve had a couple of occasions in life where I had to stand up. Once was with my son when he was about 9yo. I felt kinda bad afterwards, but let him know that there are A holes in this world and you’re gonna need to know how to deal with em. Seems most of the dems were never taught how to deal with a Biff

palm0

It's way harder when you don't just blame immigrants for everything from climate change to abortion rights. He didn't make up answer**s**, it was just one talking point and he wasn't anywhere near as coherent as Biden, he was just louder

TwistedBamboozler

It’s really funny to hear people say “I won’t vote for a guy with dementia.” And it’s always boomers and gen x. Ummmm you guys literally already did. Reagan LITERALLY had dementia. Fucking clowns.

Celebrity-stranger

Don't forget the sociopathic andrew tate worshipping/ammosexual millenials and Gen-Zers. Where I live I'm hearing that shot more from them than most boomers.

Historical-Frame2452

Don't blame Gen X for Reagan, the oldest ones were 20, and most were under 18.

Trix_Are_4_90Kids

Right I wasn't old enough to vote for him.

PreciousMentals

GenX wasn't of voting age for Reagan's two terms. I'm an older genX and my first election was HW vs Dukakis in 1988 at 19yrs old. It was the silent gen that rode Reagan to landslides because he was their movie star from their time.

sologrips

I lasted a total of 15 minutes of non stop lies before I realized they were going to do nothing. No point to watch what should be an important integral part of our election cycle and political system be turned into a circus for cnn’s ratings.

Vv4nd

i only lasted 5 min. This wasn't a debate. One side doesn't answer any questions and the other one doesn't call that out. Pathetic. Utterly pathetic. Also there was no moderator. Just a robot asking questions.

sologrips

A beyond frustrating time to exists - logic and basic duty to the country have all but evaporated from our political system lol.

Fit_Swordfish_2101

Just crass trash. Loud crass trash.

a_chicanoperspective

My thoughts exactly when a friend asked if Trump cooked Biden…he was just louder. That’s it.

Diedead666

AND almost every word out his mouth was also a lie.....

mistercartmenes

Yup. Can’t believe he tried to claim he didn’t get with Stormy. Everybody and their grandma knows he did.

PeaItchy2775

All the people (read: establishment Dems) who think Biden needs to go…you aren't supporting your candidate, you are letting 45 normalize lying and gaslighting, when you should be making ads out out of his lies. You knew what 45 was when he agreed to the debate. So did CNN…get that guy on Colorado public TV to handle this next time.

fuckasoviet

Kyle Clark isn’t from public TV. He works for 9 News. He’s a treasure.

PeaItchy2775

Thanks for the correction, I only see him on here. Agreed: he is amazing. How do we get him to actually moderate the next debate?

1N4DAM3MES

>All the people (read: establishment Dems) who think Biden needs to go…you aren't supporting your candidate ![gif](giphy|frA3xgQLVRvHF9U6o2) Duh, recognizing that Biden was sundowning on live tv(not the first time for that) in no way normalizes trumps lies(moronic sentiment btw). Anyone sane can see why Biden's abysmal performance overshadowed trumps. Any other candidate(even Copmala) has higher chance of beating trump. edit: grammar

BroadDiscretion

Thank you - i feel like I’m going crazy seeing all this copium, by this logic biden is complicit in trump’s return to the white house by NOT stepping down. I fail to see why we would have less of a chance with Kamala or anyone else not suffering dementia.

1N4DAM3MES

![gif](giphy|xUPJPoQJEg3VQ8bPIA|downsized) these people have also been delusional about Biden's polling for the last several months

DoctorStumppuppet

Absolutely insane take. Everyone responding to calls for Biden to bow out and for someone to replace him with "what about Trump's lies!" Completely miss the point. Biden was incoherent for much of the debate (as well as during many prior appearances before the debate) and gave straight up conservative regressive responses to some questions (framing abortion access through the lens of rapes committed by undocumented immigrants.) Trump is a liar, a terrible president, and bad for America. That has nothing to do with the fact that Biden is incompetent, that continuing to prop him up in this position is tantamount to elder abuse, and that nearly anyone else as a candidate would have a significantly higher chance of beating Trump in the election.

sho_biz

If CNN is complicit, the DNC is the prime actor in this saga. their answer to every problem since 2012 has been to put up fkn' sleepy friend-to-corp-interests joe literally every progressive called out the actual conspiricy keep sanders out in 2016/2020, and whne they forced HRC, every progressive called out this exact scenario with the DNC going all-in on the wrong candidates, just because they'd lose huge funding for actual progressive politics - so they keep the status quo at the cost of the republic.

Stock-Pension1803

It’s almost as if there are foreign powers trying to trend that conversation on social media

FriendshipMammoth943

Not just foreign but domestic. Project 2025 is in full swing

Negativety101

Or CNN is owned by WB Discovery which has a CEO that's a Trump supporting Billionare.

Gold_Teach_4851

It's not that insane. I keep seeing this talking point. People aren't calling on Trump to step down because he's not going to listen. Joe Biden is a halfway decent man who MIGHT listen.

Penguino13

But why would he step down?

Special-Garlic1203

He's a less than ideal candidate but the issue is there is no candidate to be agreed on. He won the primary in 2020. Nobody has come out as a popular politician in the party since then. People keep suggesting "someone else", but who exactly? I keep seeing newsom get floated, but he would have needed to start soft campaigning line 2 years ago for that to make sense.

easy10pins

4 months left - it's too late for the next guy/girl. What most of the voting public is unaware of is JB doesn't try to appear to being the entire Administration. He's constantly surrounded by subject matter experts who may not always agree with him but at least respect him

NOLA-Bronco

So if Biden announced Monday next week that he was diagnosed with a health ailment that required him to leave the presidency, and he is releasing his delegates as is customary and in accordance with party rules, the DNC would just lay down in the fetal position and whither?? Just let Trump coast to a victory in November?

Special-Garlic1203

They would likely put Harris as the presidential slot because she was part of what people expected to be voting for when they voted for Biden as nominee. The role of VP is quite literally to take over if the president becomes incapacitated

DYMck07

Harris would lose, she’s terribly unpopular. Al Gore would not lose.

Negativety101

Unless it comes down to the Supreme Court making a ruling.

DYMck07

Well yeah, with a 6-3 conservative majority now we need a decisive victory in any case.

rainbowplasmacannon

Probably honestly. It wouldn’t appear to be laying down and withering though it would be a brutal slug match to the nomination and anyone going in will come out and easier target pretty much guaranteed

Bxiscool1

Not to mention that at this point, with pretty much all state primaries completed, anyone the DNC selects would not have any meaningful voter mandate to be the candidate. Which would then be the only talking point anywhere. "Kamala wasn't even voted as the candidate, the DNC elites handpicked her to be candidate." "Buttigieg was installed by the DNC to be president, which was obviously their plan all along." "Pritzker bought off the DNC elites so they'd replace Biden with him; he essentially bought the presidency." It sucks, but it's the reality of the situation. And those talking points are just off the top of my head. I'm sure the RNC and Foreign Election trolls could come up with much more and more effective talking points.

DYMck07

Umm Al Gore who we voted for in 2000 to be president until they disenfranchised hundreds of black people at the polls in Florida would be the logical choice. It’s poetic in a way since he did what trump did not. Stepped down for the good of the country instead of had a raid on Congress.

Special-Garlic1203

He doesn't have anywhere near as strong of a profile as he did in 2000, and I'd say a lot of young voters would distrust him because his associations to his wife and Bill are seen as strong strong cons and paint him as a neoliberal Also last I checked, al wants nothing to do with politics anymore. He already got an election stolen and in doing so we ushered in an era of horrific suffering. I'm not sure he wants that deja vu.

crazymaan92

This is the issue I have with Amanda Seales. She has so much to say about how Democrats are effing this up and by and large, she's right. Ask her who to replace Biden with? \*crickets\* Like who is this magical person you're saying is going to win? Jemele Hill asked her directly and she didn't answer the question.

Sprucecaboose2

I don't think America will ever really have an ideal candidate. Being President itself requires the person to already be somewhat wealthy independently, you have to become a national figure as well, and you have to want to have political power. I have to say, if I was a betting person, I doubt the best of the best people who could have the job would be able to satisfy the pre-reqs first.

Prestigious-Mud

There's no such thing as an ideal candidate in any election ever. Anyone who claims they are an ideal candidate is a liar. Only the Left complain about a candidate not being perfect and it's insane to think they'll get one. All we can do is a little better than the time before and if one side wants to torch progress and succeeds cuz the other side is too busy playing this game of they must be perfect. Then we're going back in chains.

ConsciousHoodrat

It's also just NOT true, the democrats are making these talking points to cover their own ass But it's just not true. They have tons of talent, but all of the most exciting democrats are progressives. I remember when Ilhan Omar and AOC twitch streamed Among US and broke the platform's streaming record....and the DNC did nothing afterwards...it was like a non-event. They gave no fucks that 2 sitting congresswomen  had just made insane headway with a demographic that they have trouble with (young men). There's a reason why the DNC seems to pick the most absolute dog shit candidates  There's a reason why Kamala Harris (a prosecutor), and Pete Buttigieg (a venture captialist) were picked The DNC is a conservative organization.

RobinYoHood

America is more progressive than they think, Democrats are too scared to lose voters to put younger people up there with ideas that are considered "socialist". That lack of faith is biting them in the ass.

Embarrassed_Rule8747

Maybe not a conservative organisation, but they do look a lot more centrist than progressive. Biden, for example, is a centrist. Feel free to call me out on this, but I think that when the Republicans decided to fly far-right, the Democrats followed and became centrist instead of progressive

ConsciousHoodrat

Because he is self aware enough to realize that he's a very weak candidate to nominate against a literal fascists  Like, what a bizarre question.

DYMck07

Because there’s better options available that make it more likely for the Dems to win, and there are a lot of people who won’t vote for him (or at all) that actually might if you put up a candidate who isn’t visibly in decline. Maybe too late for all but Al Gore (who has all of the experience and name recognition too). Biden did a hell of a job for his first term but if Dems stay the course there won’t be a second. And there’s no time to adjust. Trump probably won’t do a second debate, and it’s not until September anyway, the dnc convention is in august, and the damage is being baked in right now regardless of what CNN says. Put in the candidate who gives you the best chance of victory, and that’s Al Gore. Tell me I’m wrong people, I’m here for it. The Supreme Court, the future of the US, the planet is pretty much on the line here. Play games and see how the US operates if you want to, I’ve been voting since 04 & pretty much know what’s coming.

Gold_Teach_4851

Are you kidding?

Deathstriker88

Trump has a cult, so they'll follow him off a cliff. Democratic and independent voters have eyes and use their brains... giving the nuclear codes to someone so far gone he might not know where he is at all times is scary. Supposedly Regan was in a similar boat but that was easier to hide in the 80s. It's not that he's old, it's that Biden clearly has cognitive issues. This guy lecturing them is right, but it's on the democratic party and Biden too. It was partly Biden's job to call out Trump for lying about shit like killing 9 month olds, but Biden's too slow and unable to keep up. If Biden loses, it'll be like when Ruth Bader Ginsberg died and everyone was like she should've stepped down with Obama in office. Biden should be replaced with a democratic governor ASAP. Why risk the country for one person's ego?

Flood-One

Should've run a primary against Biden then. Instead, he won all the primary elections by large margins, and will be nominated the democratic candidate. It's too late for him to drop out, so I guess we'll all ride this train until it derails, one way or another.

Peter_Panarchy

Because the Democratic party collectively decided not to run a single competent candidate against them. Had Elizabeth Warren or Pete Buttigieg, or Gavin Newsom run we would have had an actual contest, but instead we had Marianne Williamson and some rich ass from the House no one has heard of.

Critique_of_Ideology

They can still nominate someone else at the convention, although I agree they should have done this through the primary instead.

VictorianDelorean

People are asking Biden to resign because he quite frankly doesn’t seem up to the job of beating Trump. You’re completely missing the point if you think the people saying this somehow like Trump more, we are so worried about him winning we think that Biden is no longer a strong enough candidate to beat him convincingly. The stakes are way too high to be betting everything on an old man who seemingly can’t do the public appearance part of his job anymore.

ConsciousHoodrat

Is it really more insane than the fact that the DNC seems to understand the existential threat of a second Trump administration....and the best defense they can muster, is perhaps the worst DNC candidate since George McGovern? I mean, at least I understand everyone freaking out over Biden's age (he's old, and he seems old, and I'm sure his mind and memory is only getting worse by the month). ....what I don't understand is how the entire DNC machine is just fine with it all.

doctorchops1217

4 days of front page headlines on cnn about calls for him to drop out, that was wild

likwitsnake

If you watched the entire segment literally the next topic they went to after him was bringing in two people to talk about how Biden should be replaced.

Ghetto_Phenom

CNN is owned by a trump supporter/donor so that's not surprising at all. This is what he wants.

Benromaniac

The rich conservatives only want a libertarian dystopia for us. We already have child labor and almost no social supports.

The communists lmao

APenguinNamedDerek

Liberals just finding out we're way past where this saying started

Truestorydreams

My European history is sluggish, but as I recall, Hitler actually had SEVERAL who stood in his way. They were just killed off. So many factors why he got in power At the time, I.beleive the German people felt betrayed by the Weimar Republic. Many didn't even think they lost the first world war. Further more, the treaty of Versailles was such a giant middle finger to Germany as if they were the catalyst for the first war. Another thing that I found interesting is when Germany started to invade countries, I always wondered if the other nations allowed it because they assumed it would help German ,"pay off" it's debt. The treaty put them in such an economic decline. When your currency was worth more as firewood..... not to mention the over use of printing money.... Hitler took the opportunity. It's just hard to say no one stood in his way when several who did or would have were assassinated.

Studstill

I think this is super key. Nobody seems to really want to talk about those people, even in similar situations...I think it's extremely upsetting, almost the worst example of human failure in the face of an immoral world. Like we are deeply-biased against pondering such things. I'm sure a shitton of people tried to stop Adolf at every turn, and I'm sure they were criminally made to stop stopping him. It's pretty clear what you can do with violence.

poppinchips

Worth reading is the denazification of Germany. Showcasing that even after being exposed to the horrors of the holocaust most Germans supported the Nazis at like 76%. It wasn't until after the next generation learned of the horror that Germany moved forward (and is now moving back I hear...). Honestly, the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi. It's either that or they'll kill us all regardless.

delicious_fanta

The power of propaganda and the human psyche. We are learning about that first hand in the U.S. now.

dolphinvision

100% the only good nazi is a dead nazi and anyone who disagrees is dumb as shit or a nazi themselves

Capt-Crap1corn

There is a book called The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich. It goes deep into this.

Old_Baldi_Locks

After the Enabling act it wasn’t illegal. You know, like the exact thing SCOTUS just did.

beaute-brune

Exactly. Germany was down horrendous at the time Hitler came up. That was his primary political motivation: restoring Germany “back to glory.” Inflation was so bad people were lighting cash on fire for warmth because it was cheaper than buying wood. Obviously no excuse lol but the context is important.

niikwei

and yet more people not holding the murderers to account. didn't mean no one standing in their way, meant not enough

ScenesFromStarWars

They were killed off AFTER Hitler took power. You think that can’t happen here?

rabbidbunnyz222

Shitloads of communists and anarchists and some social democrats DID stand up to him. They were killed in the streets or sent to the camps. No one in POWER stood up to Hitler. There's an important difference.

JambalayaOtter

No one in power stood up to Hitler because they thought of him as a mystical kook who could be used to sway portions of the population to steer national economic and industrial policies their way. That is until it snowballed and got away from them and were like uhhhhhh…

orangeman5555

Hmmmm I wonder why that sounds familiar

Jan 6th was our [Beer Haul Putsch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Hall_Putsch) we've been warned several times and history repeats itself but nobody wants to pay attention.

Old_Baldi_Locks

Because once that kind of shit happens there are very few peaceful options left and no one is ready for that.

subma-fuckin-rine

wtf, only 5 years for treason? and worse, released after only 9 months? thats nuts

nope_nic_tesla

Arrested two days later and convicted 24 days after that. Meanwhile, Jan 6 was over 3 years ago and we don't even have a trial date for Trump.

NOLA-Bronco

Eh, more like he came to power because the conservative wing of the Weimer made a devil's deal with far right parties to withhold power from their even more hated enemies: the center-left Social Democrats. The SD's who spent as much time punching left and helping right-wing arguments and following the desires of establishment forces as they did fighting opponents to their right. And the Communists spent as much time calling the SD's their greatest foe and even occasionally reaching over to the Nazis in a belief that mirrors the dumb accelerationists today. Hitler was given power by the equivalent of Mitch McConnell through the Reichstag Fire Decree. An event many scholars think was a false flag fire set at the parliament, which Hitler, conservatives, and some SD's claimed was a communist plot to overthrow the German republic, so conservatives passed a law giving Hitler, who proclaimed he was best suited to take on the Communists and enemies of the republic, his first autocratic powers. First he went after the Communists, but the socialists didn't care too much cause they hated the communists.....then he went after the socialists. Hence the poem....

Didn't more then a few people stand up to him, that were violently removed one way or another by his supporters and the brown shirts?

DisastrousPangolin93

Yo bro what service provider you have??? 10 bars is crazy

Kenyalite

I got two sim cards. Very common in South Africa.

Penguino13

I'm curious on why two are needed? Not hating at all, just wondering.

Kenyalite

What do you think one does with two phones? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Just kidding, I run a business on the side and I don't want annoying people (clients) to have my personal number.

Two phones? Intimate knowledge of South Africa? Baby Keem you ain’t slick we know this is you

Finally someone called him out, he think he's slick

One for the plug and one for the load

I just learned recently that a lot of folks in the US that work in emergency management do the dual-sim thing so that if Verizon goes down they can still use the AT&T network.

distorted_kiwi

As someone who carries around two phones for work, I would love to have dual sim. My father in law had a Huawei phone with dual sim years ago. But, you know…

FistPunch_Vol_7

I thought about dual sims but having two phones is so much better because that clock hits 5, I’m getting the fuck out. Phone in work bag. Not tempted to look at a quick message until it’s time to put my work bag on again.

cantileverboom

Yeah, I'm 100% in the two separate phones camp.

nalgas80085

You know our speeds are throttled down significantly in the US, right? Cus we're fools who let corporations turn us out

Kenyalite

Eh we only just got fibre here so I'm only working with like 50 up and down but it's getting better and cheaper.

AwesomeD

Lol they have two lines

Hunter-Gatherer_

CNN wants trump! He’s a walking talking point, their ratings go through the roof because trump is such a lighting rod for nutty shit! To them it’s all about ratings.

pitchingataint

CNN is owned by a very conservative billionaire John Malone. He bought it about 2 years ago.

Special-Garlic1203

Yuuuup. This doesn't get talked about nearly enough. The idea there is a left mainstream media outlet is an illusion.

Colonel_Anonymustard

It was also preposterous to say that CNN was ever left leaning

Dee_Imaginarium

Yup, it always used to be centrist but now it's going full right.

koviko

20 years ago, CNN was the boring matter-of-fact news station that gave it to you straight without bells & whistles. I feel like people don't remember the real CNN.

thatHecklerOverThere

Neoliberal at best.

kerouac666

The whole reason Trump hated CNN was the president of CNN during Trump's rise/presidency was Jeff Zucker, and previously Zucker was president of NBC when The Apprentice was on the air and he was directly involved with keeping Trump's per-ep rate low and eventually threatened to replace him during negotiations. Trump didn't care about CNN's reporting; he just wanted to be a pain for Zucker as revenge.

THING2000

Huh...that's news to me and pretty concerning. Are there any American networks that serve as a leftist media outlet? Specifically for the news?

BrittleClamDigger

No. Anyone who says MSNBC or NPR is an idiot.

FesteringNeonDistrac

On cable or broadcast? No. Online there's a lot more options.

Infamous_East6230

It’s amazing how many people don’t realize this. CNN is just FoxNews-Lite

StevenIsFat

I'm glad you said this. It's blowing my mind that people thought CNN is still what they were even 5 years ago. They were captured by the right the day they were bought.

lottery2641

Though like, idek who’s gonna keep watching???? I sure as hell don’t want 24/7 is Biden fit?? Discussions when real issues are happening. I’m sure trumpies also don’t care for that 24/7 lmao. What kind of audience does that even attract??

KleosIII

It's not about who watches. It's about available content. Sort of like streaming with ads. They don't care what you're actually watching, or if you're even enjoying it; but if you are watching it, you **WILL** hear this message whether you want to or not. Send those messages on all channels then you MIGHT hear it enough to hear it as much as your actual beliefs. Involuntary validation.  WE ALL KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG. Being centrist in this political climate is BS. Go seek out objective facts and history, not speculative mumbo jumbo based on feelings the current MSM is pushing on you. You have a choice and a vote. You don't have to agree with my political views, but you do need actual political views of your own.

theblackd

He’s right, Trump threatened to attempt another coup, talked about wanting to fulfill “the dream” of an adversarial dictator, dropped a racially charged dig at black Americans, lied with extreme efficiency (very obvious lies, the only efficiency was just cramming a bunch of lies into a short period of time) The headlines: BIDEN IS OLD!!!

Pickles2027

Yep, it’s the media’s new, “…but her emails”. Michelle Wolfe called the media out in 2018 for this same reason: clicks and profit over our democracy. At the 14.50 mark below, she nails it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DDbx1uArVOM

TheAlmightyMojo

18:00 is my favorite moment with only a minute left.

No-Business3541

Yep worldwide that’s the only issue they picked on in this whole fuckery. Like please, did none of them listened to what he said ? They did a poor job at monitoring the debate and double down with the topics afterwards.

iamjustaguy

Then, less than 24 hours after the debate, the New York Freakin' Times calls on Biden to step aside! Didn't they just report on how Trump was convicted on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to hide hush money payments to a porn star in their own town? Like, three miles away. Shouldn't they be calling on Trump, who everyone in New York knows is a criminal, to step aside instead? What a pathetic bunch of losers! I will forever continue to pirate the NYT.

BombasticSimpleton

I like how the CNN hosts somehow manage to look like both my pets **and** my kids when they've been busted doing something wrong, know they did something wrong, but figure if they just sit there and take it, they'll get in *less* trouble despite me reading them the riot act about what they did. "You guys set the couch on fire and no one else was here. But you don't know who did it? You don't have a description of the person that did it? While you've been sitting here all day in the room?" \^The above applies to both the kids and the pets - separately, although they often work together.

distorted_kiwi

They look like the PM shift getting scolded for things AM shift didn’t do.

sillyhobo

That's exactly the energy the anchorwoman was giving, like, "I hear you, but I'm not media personality, and acclaimed fiction author Jake Tapper"

Giedingo

Looks like they’re just waiting for him to say “go get my belt”

justmovingtheground

For real though. And that “Thank you” at the end felt like a kinda “we’ll take that under advisement” type of thank you.

thefirdblu

That "thank you" was from the OOP who recorded the segment with his phone, so I'm presuming it was an agreement.

LastDaysCultist

CNN would make so much money for reporting on the Trump presidency and its subsequent mishaps. Like anything else American, $$$ trumps doing the right thing. At the end of the day, they don’t care that other people suffer.

StagnantSweater21

I mean, that’s what happens when they get bought by a billionaire conservative lol

Zanchbot

Yep people don't realize CNN is owned by a MAGA these days. They can no longer be trusted.

wh1t3ros3

We need to remember billionaires own our media and they stand to gain by a Trump presidency via no income taxes. We don't know if these channels are getting messages from the top that kneecap any real coverage of what is happening. This country has so much corruption within our government it can't govern or communicate to it's citizens.

Nedgurlin

“Cocky with corruption that I our leaders forgot who they govern”

GroovySandals

People need to realize, that we are currently living in the biggest era of information warfare. Right now. There has NEVER in the history of humanity been this many effective information/disinformation campaigns from hundreds of prominent sources around the world Billionaires buy up media companies to explicitly push their own agendas, and we are living in that outcome https://pdri-devlab.upenn.edu/publications/how-the-ultra-rich-use-media-ownership-as-a-political-investment/ https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/719415 https://amp.theguardian.com/news/2022/may/03/billionaires-extra-power-media-ownership-elon-musk While we were all distracted, billionaires and their corrupt politician lackeys around the world have been planning meticulously every year against the working class. This is just another one of the hundred things they have planned to use against us.

BigJohnThomas

I really dont get what they are gaining. They already have all the money in the world. What are they going to do with more? These people need a hobby and to stop fucking with everyone.

NoCantaloupe9598

There is this notion that is often repeated, that 'once you have enough money why would you want more...' This is implying that the solution to greed is more money. But the reality is money just makes a person even greedier if they are already greedy.

NYCHW82

Wow, he actually lectured them on national TV.

suzi_generous

He did a great job, too. He got so close to “I’m not mad. I’m just very disappointed in each of you.”

DogeBonkUnchained

Yes, and he has a community here on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/13KeysToTheWhiteHouse

Dragonsandman

For context, the guy talking is [Allan Lichtman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allan_Lichtman), who's notable for having correctly predicted the outcomes of all but one of every Presidential Election since 1984 (with the one exception being 2000, which ended up being decided by the Supreme Court). When it comes to American politics, this guy knows his shit

Jimothy-Goldenface

I'm afraid to ask but what's his prediction for this election? I'm out here praying for a miracle

Dragonsandman

He hasn't made his official prediction yet, but right now the system he uses is leaning towards Biden

refrainfromlying

Very slightly. >Biden would lose five— one short of a predicted defeat—if the Keys fall as they now lean And if Biden was to drop out for some reason, the Democrats would lose 2 keys.

hushpuppi3

That's crazy how such a seemingly simple system has been so accurate to often. What are the keys?

Dragonsandman

[From the wiki article:](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Keys_to_the_White_House) > Party mandate: After the midterm elections, the incumbent party holds more seats in the U.S. House of Representatives than after the previous midterm elections. > No primary contest: There is no serious contest for the incumbent party nomination. > Incumbent seeking re-election: The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president. > No third party: There is no significant third party or independent campaign. > Strong short-term economy: The economy is not in recession during the election campaign. > Strong long-term economy: Real per capita economic growth during the term equals or exceeds mean growth during the previous two terms. > Major policy change: The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy. > No social unrest: There is no sustained social unrest during the term. > No scandal: The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal. > No foreign/military failure: The incumbent administration suffers no major failure in foreign or military affairs. > Major foreign/military success: The incumbent administration achieves a major success in foreign or military affairs. > Charismatic incumbent: The incumbent party candidate is charismatic or a national hero. > Uncharismatic challenger: The challenging party candidate is not charismatic or a national hero. According to his system, if five or fewer of these statements are false, then the incumbent party will win. Currently he has party mandate and charismatic incumbent as false, the two military related statements as leaning false, no strong third party challenger and no major social unrest as leaning true, and the rest as true.

hushpuppi3

That's pretty cool, thanks

#FINALLY HOW LONG HAS CNN'S BOOT BEEN ON OUR THROAT? HOW LONG HAS THE SCOURGE OF ATLANTA-BASED BANK-TV CRUSHED US INTO THE DIRT? HOW MANY LIVES LOST A YEAR TO THESE ABOMINABLE HORRORS? I think people are getting it. But the public relations from the enemy were never *necessary, they have the* ***power.*** People like McConnell get bought and bought again, then disappear....their time in the limelight being the only goal of their sins. CNN is not the problem, not the issue, not the concern. Republicans. Defeating the Republicans is the only path forward. Who knows if it will work. But there aren't any other options. It isnt the Civil War they want to refight, but the Revolutionary one, to remake this country into nobility unburdened by the yoke of high interest and other financial horrors....one woman pays 2 gold for a goat while another pays 1, this is because the first woman is a higher "risk"? Never forget that "regulations" the enemy wants to "remove" are there explicitly and directly to prevent 100% guaranteed harms, like how you should "regulate" the amount of "water you drink" or "hot sauce you rub on your face" or "how close you sit to the fire". These people want to harm you. Your children and your neighbors. They say it **out loud.** Idk what the fuck this post is about, but I guess "couch protesting against the lamestream media" is BPT material now. Title 0/10 in that case, for the OGs. Vote. Never vote Republican. Good luck to us all.

Victor_deSpite

Praise this man!

Odyssey_2001

He’s Allan Lichtman, an historian who has successfully predicted the presidential elections going back to 1984 with his “13 Keys to the Whitehouse” criteria. (2000 being the only exception) Interestingly enough, Lichtman says that Biden is favored to be reelected and should stay in the race

Vamparisen

He would have been right in 2000 as well but the supreme court intervened

refrainfromlying

And conversely he was wrong in 2016, since he predicted that Trump would win the popular vote, even though he didn't.

hushpuppi3

> He’s Allan Lichtman, an historian who has successfully predicted the presidential elections going back to 1984 with his “13 Keys to the Whitehouse” criteria. (2000 being the only exception) > > Interestingly enough, Lichtman says that Biden is favored to be reelected and should stay in the race Thanks for being the first comment/reply that I see saying who he is. I'm very surprised they let someone who would say something like that on live air but now I understand. That dude rocks.

VapidRapidRabbit

No lies told. This isn’t shocking though, CNN has been courting Republicans after the Warner Bros Discovery merger.

Dragonsandman

They've been doing that since long before then really, though post-merger it's certainly been more blatant. Lichtman is right to tell them to their faces that they're complicit.

themengsk1761

They are spinning the edutainment so hard that they are promoting and highlighting the fascist who is RIGHT in front of our eyes. He's coming for us, the normal and moderate people and making it crystal clear what he intends to do if he gets elected again. They let him lie, they let him threaten violence, they let him undermine society's sense of truth and reality, and they will have blood on their hands if he gets back into power.

EyeDissTroyKnotSeas

Within minutes of the debate starting, it became clear that one of Trump's conditions for showing up was "no fact-checking and no mentioning this condition" with a side of threats of lawsuits.

Skipping_Scallywag

I doubt it. CNN is owned by a conservative billionaire John Malone that purchased it 2 years ago. So, the moderators methodology seems like it came from the top. I don't think Trump had to list conditions to show up. He's playing his role in a rigged quadrant of the game. EDIT: Downvotes don't change facts. If you think that John Malone, a conservative real-estate mogul who owns the most private land in the United States is not going to allow his private agenda to leak into his management of CNN, that just strikes me as incredibly naïve. The orchestration of the debate was a tipping of the hand.

dpforest

Everybody wants to play the blame game this week and I am happy to see this guy calling out the source of the chasm that exists between the left and the right. It ain’t Hillary’s fault, It ain’t RBGs fault, It ain’t Bernie’s fault. It’s fucking Rupert Murdoch’s fault that our country is divided the way it is. CNN was fine up until 2015 but now, nearly 10 years later, they are just as bad as Fox. They don’t care about facts, they care about views. And what gets the most views? Anger and fear. Time magazine should also be ashamed of releasing that cover immediately after the debate. Panic? Really? *Now* we are supposed to panic? Fuck outta here

Mulliganasty

Even MSNBC is doing that right now. In between the events of the day several stories about Biden being pressured to step down and not one story about Trump's corruption, rampant dishonesty and unfitness for office.

Kenyalite

They want trump to win.

BoilerMaker11

Trump lied for 90 minutes but somehow “won” the debate because Biden stumbled over his words. Insane. Somebody stumbling over their words but answering the questions is better than someone who is confidently wrong.

gotziller

In this thread I learned that CNN is not only right wing now. It was never left wing what so ever.

CharlieMansonsEyes

No one thinks he's fine. He was on fire the following day at his rally, but no, we know he's in decline. Even so, he remains the lesser of two evils and him and his cabinet are no where near as great a threat to democracy as trump.

the_calibre_cat

imagine watching this video and having this takeaway from it lol such honest, very good faith,

blacktaurus3636

We looking at you too MSNBC. These past few mornings would have you thinking that 45 was up there just spitting straight facts and I don't like that.

Bleezy79

Why is it only this one guy speaking truths out here? Where are all the experts and historians and people of integrity in government? This is the time to speak up and speak out before its too late.

For_serious13

Lmaooooo you can see the dudes soul leave his body Props to that guy for calling out CNN

fancy-kitten

Yeah that's great and all, but wasn't CNN bought by a Trump donor? From my understanding, CNN has become controlled opposition.

thass_not_my_name

I love the way the news anchor in the blue suit had the decency to look properly chastised at the end, lowering his head in shame 🫠

2gunswest

Yeaaaahhhh. But Biden old. /s Edit… fixed it

SHC606

And water is wet. He was old when he was elected. His opponent is EVIL and OLD.

dragonfuitjones

They don’t even care

barbedseacucumber

I really think all the articles about Biden were in anticipation of Trump's sentencing. Got to keep it a horse race. I bet that is going to change now that Trump got immunity

AvelinaL

The courage to call out mainstream media like this is commendable.

SlySlickWicked

Under Biden it’s boring, slow news equals less viewers watching ads, Trump brings views by all the stupid shit he says bringing them more views and that equals $$$$$ to them
