Search the subreddit, this has been answered a lot Long and short 1) don't run it like a stream super long etc 2) reduce day length as time goes on 3) make sure you've done the quizzes on their website 4) make sure you have read the almanac for the roles you're putting in 5) offer to talk hypotheticals in public or anything in private 6) tell the group coming to the ST is not a sign of good or bad as everyone is new (nearly)

I’m so glad up didn’t say don’t put in a soy, I love soy for new players cuz then one person strongly understands the game at the end by looking at your house all game

Trouble brewing is extremely robust for bag building. Just from a players perspective, I tend to leave out slayer and saint for first plays and put in the scarlet woman. This protects somewhat against a quick finish

OmegaGoo

Run Trouble Brewing. That is the best place to start. For what roles o put in the bag: Do not put in a Spy or Butler. Do put in a Drunk (Investigator or Librarian tend to be the best for first games) and a Scarlet Woman. Everything else is up to you; TB is pretty good no matter what you put in the bag. The introductory sheet is a good thing to read to the group before you start.

DaveKaem

I disagree with no soy

OmegaGoo

That's fine, but even experienced players can have trouble with the information overload the Spy provides. BotC is a complicated enough game that new players get a *lot* of information overload when they start playing. If they draw Spy on their very first game, they're basically going to be completely lost. There are some people who do amazing under that kind of pressure. Most don't. Don't put a Spy in a game with brand new, never played a game of BotC before players unless you really, really don't want one of them at random never coming back. If things go well the first game, think about putting in a Spy once people have a feel for how the game goes. But for a very first game? No.

DaveKaem

Where are you from? I wanna play there cuz if the experienced players can’t handle a spot I wanna see that lol. Again I also tell new players don’t try to memorize everything. Read the couple that sounds petty intense and let your demon know. Your demon should also tell you to let them know what players to identify. That is the best way to learn the game in my option

DaveKaem

Yeah I noticed, I can’t fix it though but thanks

Only thing is don't put in spy on the first game, that's too much info to saddle on one person. Show people what the grim looks like after the first game and then put in spy on the second game 😈 Limit day chats to about half the minutes as players so like 6 or 7 minutes for 12 players. Don't give them too long or they'll just solve the game. Take your time at night don't rush it.

DaveKaem

I completely disagree spot teaches new players to understand the grim

Seven townsfolk, two outsiders, two minions, and one demon. 😑
