Anyone live in this area of Nampa just west of downtown? Looking at a potential move and wondering what crime is like there. Do cars get ransacked often? General property crime? Hooligan kids? I tried the crime map from Nampa PD but everything had the same date from 8/8/2023 and I can't find anywhere to refresh it, or maybe its not maintained. https://preview.redd.it/yijhzc9e969d1.png?width=2324&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3ef3ae78d0b348fe090d5810d8f95cbe5cbdea5

I have lived in Nampa for 30 years, but not in the area you mention. I drive through the area often, It is busy with lots of traffic on the east side of your map. The area is generally well lit and patrolled, so I wouldn't say that there are bands of "hooligan kids" ransacking cars and destroying property. There are quite a few rentals in the neighborhood, and some well kept older homes. My impression of the area is "Working families living their lives".

thx for the info

I don't really think crime is a big deal in Nampa at all (I just moved out of a statistically high crime neighborhood but never experienced any problems in eight years), but you should look up the Highway 45/12th Ave reroute plans if you're looking at moving to that area. The final route is still up in the air as far as I know, but at one point they were planning on diverting truck traffic down 7th St S to Yale. I wouldn't want to move anywhere close to a route like that.

I have friends who live in this neighborhood. I lived on Westwood st. for a while. I rarely locked anything up. Super safe. Several very nice homes - Some rentals. Pretty much a perfect fairly dense urban area. Very bikeable and walkable.

Anyone know where I can buy edible cocktail glitter? Need it for a party and I don't think it will ship in time if I order it online.

Anyone have a fiduciary they recommend? Looking for a 1-time fee for a consult.

erico49

Search for Certified Financial Planners. For fee.

Thanks so much!!

Hi. Question about the Bogus Basin Gravity Park. Moved here about 6 months ago and have done some mellow mountain biking so far. I have my hardtail that I brought with me. Anyone ever ride the bike park with a hardtail or should I hold off until I eventually get a full suspension bike (which probably wouldn’t be until next year)? Hoping to have this answered here instead of making a post!

Accomplished-Roof666

There is plenty of fun stuff to ride up there on a hardtail, I've ridden most of the trails on a full XC hardtail. Next weekend (28th) is the Boise Mtn Bike Festival, and there will be tons of suspension bikes to demo if you want to get a head start on shopping for one. https://www.boisemtnbikefestival.com/

Mint mobile? Any good in town, up to/around McCall? Tired of paying a fortune for cell phone bill. Mainly on WiFi, in Boise, but occasionally hook up to hotspot in/around McCall. Not a deal breaker if that doesn’t work, but wouldn’t be ideal. Thinking of activating it to test, but curious if anyone has any feedback?

It's fine in McCall proper, but outlying coverage compared to AT&T or Verizon is third-rate. West of town, if I can get line-of-sight on the Brundage towers I can get signal, but you go out further (such as out by Goose Lake) kiss it goodbye unless you're on top of a mountain. East of town, same story -- you have to have some serious altitude to get signal (e.g., Boulder Mountain or Twin Peaks). If you're trying to save money, I'd recommend looking into Cricket (which uses the AT&T towers, instead of the TMo towers that Mint uses). I have a dedicated Cricket hotspot that gets far better coverage in the McCall area than my Mint phone. As far as Boise area itself (including Bogus Basin), no issues with Mint...comparable to Cricket in that regard.

cswerner

Nice thanks! We spend some time up by northwest passage / north beach and my ATT coverage is ok…in a few spots, which would be great if mint worked there as well

hill8570

Pretty sure Mint coverage up at North Beach is decent. Again, 'tho, if you like your AT&T coverage, then for sure check out Cricket -- only reason I left them (about two years ago) is they started kicking off phone models that weren't on their whitelist, and I didn't feel like upgrading all my family's phones. While Mint hasn't been horrible, it's been distinctly inferior to Cricket.

Appreciate the info!

Recently switched to US mobile, I was looking at mint as well but heard US mobile gets higher priority. We have 2 devices on warp 5g and while the 5g is limited, coverage on 4g and service in general worked well up in Mccall.

wordnerd1023

I think they use TMobile towers. I haven't been back to McCall for maybe 2 years, but I had decent service everywhere in town, including the little valley where my mom lived (back in the early 2000s we'd have to leave the neighborhood to get service).

Iron_Rod_Stewart

What happens if I bought pre-july 1 tickets for roaring springs, but want to use them after July 1? Do I just pay the difference or do they add additional fees?

VandalGuy90

Thanks all. Gernika was good, Barbacoa was fun. Appreciate it.

Looking for suggestions for things to do on the 4th to get my dog and two year old away from fireworks. TIA.

Bruthaflex

Maybe try Idaho City? They have many activities planned, and are outside of the permissible area for fireworks: [https://adacounty.id.gov/blog/news/fireworks-ban-for-unincorporated-ada-county/](https://adacounty.id.gov/blog/news/fireworks-ban-for-unincorporated-ada-county/) [https://www.facebook.com/events/idaho-city-idaho/idaho-city-4th-of-july-celebration-2021/498782467848199/](https://www.facebook.com/events/idaho-city-idaho/idaho-city-4th-of-july-celebration-2021/498782467848199/)

Anyone been in the sawtooths? Heading up camping and curious how the higher altitude trails are? Planning to hike to sawtooth lake.

furdaboise

Call the ranger station up there for the best information

prexzan

Great idea thanks. Was planning to stop there anyway.

furdaboise

Always a go to for me is to just call the Ranger and chat with them. Always good info and the best way to get the best info.

hill8570

Haven't been up that direction yet, but AllTrails reviews from the past weekend are saying there's a few slushy snow patches on the way to Sawtooth Lake (assuming you're using the Iron Creek trailhead), but nothing requiring spikes.

prexzan

Thanks! I called the ranger office and they said the same thing. Recommended caution on trail creek side due to runoff and higher creeks. Not planning to go there, just up iron Creek but passing along.

VandalGuy90

My wife and I are flying in to Boise for a few days this week. What are some “must “ hit restaurants to try? Thanks.

JoeMagnifico

Grab some Basque food (Bar Gernika is my fave).

Bruthaflex

Brick 29 in Nampa has a good selection of locally sourced menu items, prepared well.

roland_gilead

Amano, KIN, Calle. On the other end of the spectrum, Bar Geneika, Lupitas, La Esperanza.

Go to Happy Hour at Barbacoa.
