I'd appreciate it if the mods would clean up all these independent posts or move all of this into one topic because my Reddit feed gets flooded with every insignificant brainfart on Forever now.

Don’t tell me that this is their last album. I’m not ready for that.

TheStickySpot

Who ever said that it was their last album?

wolfgang2399

Any album with John Shanks involved will not be as good as they are capable of making. He brings everything down.

I'm saying it's the best they can do with the current lineup and that includes shanks unfortunately.

HaroldCaine

Again, you say "they" but there is no "they". This band is a Jon Bon Jovi solo project these days; Dave and Tico hired guns who have ZERO to do with the songwriting process—they're literally just in the band so Jon can bill it as "Bon Jovi" when he tours, boasting 60% of the original line-up. This was absolutely the time, place and album to bring Richie Sambora back for a farewell tour—which this realistically is even if they don't call it that. Jon is on his last leg and he's not going to run it back with another tour and album 5-6 years from now. Look at all the guest songwriters and outside help he leaned on here as Nashville Jonny; Shank is all over the place, as is Billy Falcon, Ryan Tedder, Andrew DeRoberts, Nick Long, Jason Isbell, Sean Douglas, Michael Pollack, Philip Lawrence and Ed Sheeran—which sounds more like a Taylor Swift recording session and line-up than it does a Bon Jovi record.

I'm saying it's the best they can do with the current lineup, yeah jon is mostly the main songwriter but he is a great songwriter and always has been

RNRS001

I agree with Harold. There is no they, unless it's Shanks and Jon. And for a great songwriter he sure relies on co-writers a lot. Even the songs he supposedly wrote on his own were co-written or changed a lot by others to make them sound the way they do.

NjhhjN

Just because he utilises cowriters to make his songs more crisp doesnt mean he isnt a great songwriter in his own right. I think him and richie together were the best for the band for sure but he did write great music without richie as well

RNRS001

Would you say a great drummer would need an extra drummer next to him to come up with the parts? A good songwriter would be able to finish a song by himself and wouldn't have to rely on others to finish the song.

NjhhjN

Just because he doesnt doesnt mean he cant? Agnus Young is one of the best guitarists ever and he didnt play a god damn song without Malcom as a co-guitarist until he passed.
