Honestly thought you were trolling us all with a photo of the donkey tail succulent, it’s looks very similar at first glance. Swiped right then swiped back to appreciate the whole thing, super interested in seeing how you style it up!
Very nice! Remember, these are not big fans of heavy bending and wiring. But it’s going to be fuuuuuuuun!
I have a similar *A. koreana* UK garden centre find chilling in a big plastic pot putting on girth… gotta do something with it one of these days!
Afraid not… just received wisdom to me. I have a very old one as well that I inherited that I’ve been treating with kid gloves. But I might try to find the limits with my younger one!
Kohout's Icebreaker looks closest to what I have. I just came across the plant at a garden center and thought it looked really cool with the small tight rounded needle bunches.
Icebreaker right? I haven’t actually seen one that’s been bonsai’d. Curious to see what you do with it.
$70 or so seems like a lot for starting material though…
I have two of them in the ground, they look pretty cool.
Damn that’s a cool tree, I’ve never seen one before!
First time I've found one irl. Wanted one for years
Well this is a cool little tree!

Lmao I thought the same thing
Haha I can see that! It has a nice curved trunk line so I'll leave it until the autumn to cut it.
I love it It's a conifer or what is this?
It is a coniferous species yeah. They get purple cones!
I bought a tiny one last year from conifer kingdom. They are pretty cool.
I bought one for a friend 7 years ago. It has double in size from a football to two footballs
Casually just having a beautiful satsuki in the background too. 💪🏻
Thank you! If you want a better look at it this was in peak bloom. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bonsai/s/XcYKWwrDGk

Good to know, do you happen to know the physiology of why that is?

I've got one of these (or something very similar) just hanging out in a pot on the patio - curious to see where yours goes!
What’s the name of the one you have that the same or similar? I haven’t seen this before and wouldn’t mind getting one if I can find it

This is Abies Koreana blue wonder
Love the foliage on these. I've been waiting to find some material that isn't crazy expensive, but no luck so far.
They’re very cool. Wait until you get some purple cones on there.
Almost the main reason I wanted one of these for so long
Looks like fun. I bet you'll end up with a most interesting and attractive bonsai too.
What’re ya waiting for on? Get to propagatin’ we are waiting on our starters
How much did you buy it for, I saw one similar for $350
Picked this up from a UK hardware store (B&Q) for £38
Hey, happy cake day!
