Canucks fan here: what should we expect from Heinen and DeBrusk?
I know DeBrusk has been a polarizing player for Boston; I remember Bruins fans wanted him traded last year or two years before but he seems like an absolute beast in the playoffs at times (something the Canucks desperately need).
As for Heinen, I liked him in Pittsburgh and I think he played really well in Boston.
Lot of people complain about DeBrusk being streaky… he is streaky… but if he were able to maintain his high end play, he’d be a top 50 player in the world. It’s okay that he’s not a top 50 player in the world. Just enjoy the times where he plays like a top 50 player in the world.
And most Bruins fans hated him just because he was one of the infamous 2015 first round picks. He’s top 20 in his class in points, he’s responsible defensively, he kills penalties, and he plays his best in big moments. Not a bad result for 14OA. Some people are just dumb.
DeBrusk will play well close to home. He will also play real well when his contract is coming to an end. Then he will play well for 2 or 3 random games in a row...then go dormant for weeks. Playoffs get him going so he should help there.
DeBrusk has improved his overall game over the last two seasons and can play in any situation and strength. He can create his own offense, but also doesn't make those around him better.
I think his biggest issue is his confidence. When he's scoring or understands his role he is flying out there. Tocchet can make a big difference in how this signing works out for the Canucks.
In Debrusk except a firecracker who is defensively responsible even when he's streaky in December and February and then expect a beast in the playoffs.
With Heinen he's a fun player to watch for his intelligent playmaking elevating every around him and expect a nice fat juicy hat trick.
Wasn't a fam of Heinen when he was originally in Boston. Made the rounds, came back on a PTO and had an awesome year here. Wished he stayed.
Debrusk is streaky, but he had some bad covid years and I think Cassidy kept him on short leash. Did better again under Monty. You'll be swearing at him as he will still be on pace for a 20+ goal season. He does well on playoffs in will sneakily lead in playoff points.
I like Heinen a lot and wish he resigned in Boston for that same deal. Versatile and heady player that can move up and down the lineup as needed. Obviously doesn’t put up huge numbers that’s not his game.
Debrusk seems to be loved in the locker room and goes on streaks of burying the puck. Too inconsistent in my opinion but wish him well.
Debrusk has a solid 200 foot game as well as his streaky offense. I do think he's overdue for a change of scenery, though. I think he'll thrive under Tocchet
Nobody wanted Heinen in Boston last year and then he became a bit of a folk hero with how solid he was playing. It’s not easy to sway Bruins fans but he pulled it off.
DeBrusk can be really good but I’m happy his chapter is ending in Boston. He’ll be happier in Van and will probably have a bit of uptick in points I think with new scenery.
DeBrusk is streaky. When he is on, he is incredible. But when he goes cold… it is real bad. Despite being streaky in the regular season, he is pretty reliable in the playoffs. He is not a line driver and is at his best with high end guys.
Heinan plays simple and fast. He had a great year last year getting lots of games on Pasta’s line. Ideally he is a 4th line guy but can move up the lineup when needed.
This is seriously a fantastic price idk what your sub thinks. Don’t be fooled by his past contracts! Him and JD will serve well esp with a cap increase.
Schaller, Studnicka, Halak, Lazar, Eriksson, Spooner, McIntyre, all in the last few years, this is nothing new. And now Heinen, DeBrusk, and Forbort just today.
You can really tell that Van wants to be Boston when they grow up.
fuck. ill miss heino :( played great for the B’s all year and i got to see his first career hat-trick in person (also happened to be my first time ever seeing a hat-trick live)
This hurts more than the JDB signing. I liked how versatile Heinen was and was hoping we would re-sign him.
Still though, 4.5mil in the bank is a lot for a guy who went unsigned all last off season - good for him!
Good for him..should have won the 7th player award, man becomes a solid core player after not being picked up by anyone and has to go to a tryout, tenacity at its finest…bummer to see him go
EDIT: hard to believe Im saying this after how I felt about his first tenure with the boys
This one is rather surprising to me, considering he was basically the only pending UFA the Bruins were negotiating with. Shit happens I guess.
Just means they must be grabbing another forward today.
So we traded Debrusk, Heinen to Van for Zadorov?
Dont forget Forbs
Kinda but i don’t think so it was just a straight free agency swap but no trades were reported
Fffffffffffff frig
Dang good for him! I'll miss you Heinen!

Debrusk will score 8 goals in 10 games and then not score again for 20. That's him in a nutshell
Can’t possibly be worse than Ilya Stone-Hands-Can’t-Hit-The-Net mikheyev!
Lol yeah he's better than him for sure. One redeeming quality about debrusk though is that he can kill penalties

Debrusk is like underwear. Streaky at times, but there to cup your balls when you need it most?

I wish 23-24 heinein was 2018 2019 heinein.

I hate watching my boys grow up and leave home 😪
Love Danton. Go fuck up the west!
Sad to see him go but hell yea! That’s a nice payday, Danton!
Not really liking that, but hopefully this means Lysell or Merk (or both) now have a spot to compete for.
Ah fuck. I love this guy, enjoy him Nucks. Beast
This makes me less sad that we couldnt keep zaddy & lindy
Both him and JD will fit that system well I think, fast skaters.
This guy is from my town and I didn't know about him until now... will do!
This is seriously a fantastic price idk what your sub thinks. Don’t be fooled by his past contracts! Him and JD will serve well esp with a cap increase.
Sucks to see him leave at that price but he’s from Van so makes sense
So can Bos and Van stop trading their rosters?
Schaller, Studnicka, Halak, Lazar, Eriksson, Spooner, McIntyre, all in the last few years, this is nothing new. And now Heinen, DeBrusk, and Forbort just today. You can really tell that Van wants to be Boston when they grow up.
"If you can't beat them, join them"? Lol
That’s always been our MO since 2011 🤣
After seeing all the other moves on Reddit I opened this comment section to say exactly that 😂
That one hurts. I was big on Heinen and I think we could’ve payed that
Letting him go at this price is a huge mistake.
This is a steal. Good for the Canucks.
Bummer! I wanted to see him stay but I get it. We’ll see him in the spokes B in another 3 years.
I like Heinen and I'm happy for him. I would have liked to have kept him, but at like $1.5M x 2 tops.
B’s and Nucks just trading FA’s.
Keep em coming!
Is Vancouver going to become my 2nd favorite team?
No.
Good for Heinen, dude was a PTO this last year making league min... now he's making 2.25 for the next 2 years. Well done!
and gets to play in his hometown
fuck. ill miss heino :( played great for the B’s all year and i got to see his first career hat-trick in person (also happened to be my first time ever seeing a hat-trick live)

Hate to see him go but I guess he gets to play close to home. Good guy, good for him.
Bummer! Glad he’s getting the money and a couple of years but wish we could have figured out a deal with him

Bummer to see him go but good on him for earning a nice payday
Kind of wish we were able to re-sign him for this but I understand the cap is tight. There's a bit of a logjam in the bottom 6 anyways
I kinda thought they weren’t qualifying Boqvist so they would keep Heninen. I wish I was right
This one is rather surprising to me, considering he was basically the only pending UFA the Bruins were negotiating with. Shit happens I guess. Just means they must be grabbing another forward today.
He earned that money.
100%
Thats a bummer, we raided the Canucks and they raided us I guess.
Pretty amicable swap of Heinen-Debrusk and Zaddy-Lindholm. I like how we look after this.
you forgot Forbort.
Oh man I didn’t even see that. Adios.
So long, King
