No, you can be good and main a brawler with a lower hz phone. Just means you can’t play to the fullest extent but also doesn’t mean you’ll be affected all that much. And when you eventually do upgrade it’ll be that much better

motordrifty

i see, thank you!

Solstice_bs

Yes, it matters. I recently tried 120hz for the first time as a 60hz player who plays at a pretty high level. It's a lot better. But if you play on good, stable ping and a device that runs the game smooth, 120hz isn't a must. You can be a good player and max main with 60hz

Extra_Corgi1874

Ping > Hz. But having transition from 60hz to 120hz, I would say it does make a difference.

Solstice_bs

Yeah I agree, ping is more important

ThaCloReip

Ping>device>hz

Ambitious-Spread-567

Even though it's hard to have good ping on shitty device.

Kira6601

How to see how much ping you have in bs?

Cuntilever

In some phones, they have a built in game performance monitor where you can see stats such as ping, temp, and fps. Maybe you can find some 3rd party apps for your phone if it doesn't have it. I'm using a OnePlus phone, I can just drag down the performance monitor from the top right side, it's called Hyper Boost.

Solstice_bs

I usually go on cloudping.info and check latency to my closest brawl server (in EU, frankfurt) but you can also just eyeball it. If your shots take a while to fire, you have high ping

[deleted]

Only really matters if you're thinking about going full on pro (monthly tournament, world finals and etc)

Mysterious_Fold_2253

I would say yes, 60 HZ is good but it processes images and visuals a bit slower so it makes it feel like a very very small lag, But when you switch to 120.HZ the smoothness you get doubles, Which ultimately gives you such good control over the Brawlers, I used to play on 60 HZ on my mom's phone, but when I got my personal phone, which has 120 HZ, my game experience just went out of this world, that much difference I felt, Also looking at your game play, it really looks good though, so having a 120 HZ device will skyrocket your skills if you play this much well on that as well, Even though Ping matters, sometimes smoothness and processing power takes it all so you can try once if you want to, Or just try playing on 120 HZ on a friend's phone and you can see for yourself about the difference you made there

motordrifty

ill try to find a friend on that and ask him ! thanks for the advice

Mysterious_Fold_2253

No worries bro, Try it and lemme know, how you felt, and please share the gameplay of Max(brawler) here, and I'll be really happy to see it ☺️

motordrifty

for sure man!

Mysterious_Fold_2253

Hey, there mate, How did you feel after playing on 120 HZ, Or did you?

motordrifty

i did, unfortunately i couldn't record it , my overall performance in 120hz is way smoother and i can see shots coming , so when i dodge its more reactional now and less luck-guess based :)

Mysterious_Fold_2253

See, i told you, Yes skills and Ping matters but HZ matters a lot So are you switching up devices?

motordrifty

not switching up! i dont have the money to do so but its better for me as is since if i perfect 60hz i will be better in 120hz

Mysterious_Fold_2253

Yeah, that's a thing, It's great to see you play this good as Max on 60 HZ

Realistic-Cicada981

It will benefit way more the higher you are up in the ladder of ranks and trophies

ONION_BROWSER

The difference isn’t significant enough to matter 95% of the time there may be some situations where it will matter but most of the time it won’t be significant.

Kira6601

The difference is huge.Went from a 90 hz phone to a 60hz phone and brawl stars doesn't really feel smooth anymore although it may not matter much to people who never experience 90 or 120hz.

KhunSG9722

Someone in the future will say you need 240 hz

bar_teq

120 hz actually changes a lot

ping-pong7153

Idk but im a 60hz player too and im not that good at dodges but i tried playing in my friends Ipad which was 120hz and i was able to dodge so smoothly so ig it does make a difference

sungod-luffy

How do you change it

bqminh

not much related but is Ardeno 610 a good enough GPU for Brawl Stars? does anyone have a recommendation on the minimum GPU requirements? thanks!

iangc

It matters for user experience. Not for competitive performance. This is not an fps game where you need every micro adjustment in your aim. I'm actually quite surprised with just how many people think it matters for performance.

h0T_-DoG

Imo it doesn’t matter unless you are playing in a pretty competitive thing and even then it could be a negligible difference

Logical_Upstairs_101

where the heck were your teammates?

motordrifty

died in the first 5 secs

Professional-Jump913

All things considered you handled yourself well. My only thing is it didn't look like you were aiming or were just predicting a bit too far ahead. You could've won that honestly. Your juking was insane lol. Props bro 💯

ThaCloReip

Yes, it is a huge difference and I couldn't go back to 60hz and play with the same level I do have now

Top_Manufacturer3387

Wouldn't touch sampling rate have a greater impact than screen refresh rate? ROG 7 user here, 165hz screen refresh rate and 720hz touch sampling rate. Screen is waaaay more responsive when these options are enabled. For me, it makes a big difference in my ability to dodge and juke. I didn't think it would matter, so for a while I never bothered to play in XMODE to conserve battery. Now I only play in regular mode when I'm on the go, when I'm at home I always play with max settings (with cooler attached).

CommunicationOk3766

Your dodging is godtier btw, just practice your aim in high pressure situations. While playing Max, a lot of ppl focus too much on dodging and forget you still have to hit shots to win a fight. Even then, the aim was pretty good still 👍 While 120hz helps a ton, it is not by all means a necessity, just focus on getting better, and you'll do just fine. You can feel the difference, but not *that* much. Also, it's not worth wasting hundreds of dollars to move a bit more smoothly on a phone game, lmao.

TroubleConstant6222

In my phone i have 144 but îți feels the diferences

LostMan26

B's only supports 120hz

MynameisnotTudor

Isn't this normal?

LostMan26

If that's you on the max u gotta chill

Infectoidmite

This is clash of clans not brawl stars

Infectoidmite

Nvm this is a promoted post

Oasis_fresh

Bro really Said "Now im tensai"

DGP873

Im more then sure that bs doenst run on 120fps Cr and coc got a high fps button that makes the game run on 120fps Bs doenst have one

HyperNoob558

In my opinion yes, I play on a 120hz iPad and have a 60hz phone. I consider myself to be a pretty decent max (almost always 1k+ tho I like to tilt her) and the difference feels insane. It can definitely impact the entire game.

[deleted]

Newbie here Can anyone tell me how hz affects your gameplay?

InitialSwitch6803

It’s basically smoother movement/aiming touch-wise and/or visual-wise on the screen, which makes it weirdly easier to predict enemy movements and more easier to dodge attacks too. 60hz is the base, some good phones have 75/90hz, and the top phones have 120/144hz. But honestly I think smooth wifi is just as important, if not more.

Logical_Upstairs_101

I had made a second account to play on PC and was surprised by how different the game felt with high fps and hz. It's like butter. I play on an old phone, so the difference was big

DaUltimatePotato

Which phones have 144hz? There's some products sold in China that claim 144 (and even more actually), but they're not stable, nor does Brawl Stars support beyond 120hz iirc.

Fyzeee

for dodging up close no its luck based because most of the time u arent going to predict where your opponent will shoot so u either dodge left or right. Now ive played before on 60hz when i got my 120hz phone my first few games when fighting someone in a close encounter i would stop playing thinking ive diet but ive actually got the kill and many times where someone would shoot at me when im low with mortis, i would try to dodge but think ive died while ive successfully dodged the attack as i have more time to react. Also what happened is im able to play a bit better with brawlers who require faster faster inputs like stu chaining his super, mortis and also last moment escapes like eves jump, pipers super or maxes dash. Also a bit easier to hit colts all bullets

motordrifty

i can chain dashes with stu on 60hz

Fyzeee

yea its not hard

Routine_Factor3221

Of course

PhoneImmediate7301

What is hz?? Hertz?? What does that have anything to do with brawl stars?

zeraurra

not in brawl stars but in gd yes

EliNNM

No, Frame Rate doesn’t matter, you can not only be good, but great and main a brawler with a low HZ phone, I’ve been playing with 30 frames per second and it’s been wonders! Modern gamers will often and always tell you that frames matter, which isn’t the case, sure there *could* be a difference between playing with or without higher frame rate, but ultimately it does not make or break a brawler like Max, what does however is input delay and Wi-Fi connection, because with delay or a bad connection, it’ll feel awful. You may also think of it this way, if you start now and master 60 HZ now, you’ll become a monster once you get access to 120 HZ.

He was in a 1v2 battle and almost killed both. His teammates were nowhere to be found.
