it really depends on the artist skills

debacchatio

That’s about right - for two sessions - at a high end studio (at least in Rio).

Future-Geologist-630

Tattoo prices depend on the craftsmanship of the tattoo artist

Impossible_Newt3398

I don't think this is too expensive if the artist is good. Remember that cheap tattoos will stay forever in your body.

dnlfrc

well, check this guy out: [https://www.instagram.com/sambrazjunior/](https://www.instagram.com/sambrazjunior/) 2000\~2400 reais is pretty cheap for a 2 sessions, depends a lot of the artist skills and what is the tattoo you wanna get.

ConsiderationNo6084

Here is the artist I was talking about: https://www.instagram.com/sofidamaceno?igsh=M3RjZnp0Z3VqaDJh Looking at her designs, what do you think? Are her skills equal to the price she’s asking for?

dnlfrc

oh that is too expensive. and it could be done in one session. 2k for anime tattoos? bullshit

ConsiderationNo6084

It isn’t an anime tattoo. This is just her main trope. My tattoo is based on a creature in a fantasy book. I just wanted to know if you think she can ask for those prices generally

ConsiderationNo6084

The most accurate example for the tattoo I want to have would be this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tattoos/comments/llzz10/nice_cryptic_design_by_eamon_bmi_tattoooak_forest/

natyei

Judging by the size and the amount of details, it's regular price. You could do it for cheaper for sure, but I don't think she's purposely overcharging you, it's bound to happen if she's a popular artist who works with top notch materials. If you like her style and know she's trustworthy, I'd say it's worth the money.

dnlfrc

but are you tattoing in her style of tattoo? i think that is the more important aspect of what you're doing. i like to go for tattoo artists that suits the style i like, because probably you'll get a better result. i'm from caxias do sul (but dont live there anymore), i can try to help you with other tattoo artists in the area. what is the style of tattoo you want?

ConsiderationNo6084

She showed me a few of her tattoos she did, that aren’t anime, which is why she made an good impression on me. Also she seemed really interested to do this tattoo. So it’s not like that, that i‘m not sure if she’s able to do it. Just not sure about the price. It’s would be basically the creature you can see on the other tattoo (a cryptic Spren based on the works of Brandon Sanderson) plus adding bamboo as complimentary elements on the tattoo. But yes, I’d be interested in other connections to more tattoo artists

dnlfrc

that is a cool tattoo and has a lot of details. probably why she is charging that much. i have something a little bit similar on my knee, but it was all done in one day and i paid around BRL 900 at the time. also it is smaller than your size, i think. i did my knee with this guy: [https://www.instagram.com/lucasmatostt/](https://www.instagram.com/lucasmatostt/) he does it all on free hand. also, you probably need someone that speaks english (at least a little bit) so thats why she's probably charging you a bit more, if she speaks your language.

ConsiderationNo6084

I didn’t know, that language could be a factor 😅 I think I was mostly worried because it’s my first tattoo outside my own country. Also because I have a tattoo with similar proportions on my leg, which took only four hours and cost the same (but in Germany where everything is 4-5 times more expensive). I know of course that details can make a great difference in cost and time to complete, but I was still confused😅 Thank you for sending me the link to the artist. Maybe I will contact him too.

dnlfrc

im not sure, but i'd definatelly put it into account... i wouldnt charge for that service, but you can never know how other people think about that. this is the tattoo reference, right? [Cryptic Spren](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61ABcz1OjpL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg) i think it has a lot of details and work, so it should probably take some good hours (maybe around 8\~10 hours in a total). i have both my sleeves done... i have a lighthouse on my left arm that took around 5 hours... my right arm took around 9\~10 because it is a medusa with 20+ snakes, so the details really add up.

SnooRevelations979

I heard the first prize is usually a big mushy, bland coxinha.

alephsilva

You are using "prize" wrong and yes, thats too much for a tattoo

AnywhereOther9340

do you have tattoos? it can be slightly more expensive more ain't too much

alephsilva

I do, a 15*25

Affectionate_Ask1049

Hey man if you’re gonna be in São Paulo by any chance I can recommend a really good artist for anime stuff

braziliangreenmayo

I paid 1200 reais for my last tattoo (around 20x15cm, black work, on the thigh) and it was done in a single 3-hour session. If the artist is good and you really like their work, it's a fair price.

gorilaaf

that’s too expensive for a tattoo, unless it’s like a big one like full back, or arm sleeve with a great artist, they prolly scamming you it it really is a 25x12cm one

dnlfrc

no its not. 2 sessions, depending on the work the guy is doing, is pretty cheap.

gorilaaf

bruh 2500 for 25cm? it’s only cheap if it’s like a TOP tier artist, or one of those bs full anesthesia sessions

dnlfrc

well since there will be 2 sessions the tattoo probably have a lot of details, probably the OP thinks it is something simple, but clearly it is not. we would need to see what style of tattoo he wants, the artist and also the idea of the tattoo. :) you can make a 25x15 tattoo of a star (just the outline) or you can have a realism/black work tattoo on the same area with an exclusive drawing that will be way more expensive.

braziliangreenmayo

It's not cheap but it's a fair price for a detailed black work piece with lots of straight lines, which seems to be what the OP is looking for based on other comments.

Voidoid6

it's really expensive. i have many traditional tattoos, a "flash tattoo" 10x15cm it's about R$300

dnlfrc

but flash tattoos are cheap and trash generally

Voidoid6

2k for a tattoo of that size is still insane

dnlfrc

depends. if it is a flash tattoo ofc it is expensive. if its a good tattoo with a good artist it is not.

Voidoid6

why tf are you assuming every artist that does flash style tats are not good artists

dnlfrc

because flash tattoos are mostly generic tattoos on a smaller size. there can be good ones but mostly they are generic. probably his tattoo is kinda of a black work or realism or some other different stuff that the artist has to do something creative and exclusive. that's it.

braziliangreenmayo

Yeah, OP provided an example and it's black work with lots of details and straight lines. My last tattoo artist did something in that style and she was SUPER professional and careful about placement and lining everything up properly, because straight lines can look wonky af on the body if you don't make sure everything is flawless. That plus possibly creating the art from scratch for the OP obviously raises the price from a simple flash tattoo.
