They looked so unfinished! Penelope wore a lot of really light colours, but they still could have given her proper gloves that had design elements. Hers were just a piece of fabric. Season 1 and 2 had such beautiful gloves.

They Instagramed her whole outfit. Why is her hair down and looks like the 1940s. Hopefully a better stylist comes back for s4. I can't have Sophie looking like a Instagram prostitute combination

Hahaha trueeee esp in one of the scenes where pen presses her hands to her face you can see the acrylic nails or like modern nails and I'm like oh ok we're doing that now.

Can’t find it anymore but I saw the makeup artist post the details for the Butterfly ball. She was like red is colour of boldness power etc and we really wanted the focus on the lips instead of the eyes because she’s speaking. I just thought beautiful hair and makeup, but wrong century. Why wasn’t there anyone on set reminding them of the season 1 and season 2 world building? Daphne’s maid DIYed blush in season 2 and they had an off white wedding cake because of a sugar shortage… where did they find pigmented red lipstick and acrylics.

The costume designer this season said she was going for “old Hollywood” which she did well, but doesn’t fit with the show at all. Pretty much everyone looked like they were from the 30s/40s, even the guys whose costumes were good had out of place styling with their hair and stuff. Honestly Cressidas wild hair was the only one I believed. The only person who has a costume glow up IMO was Eloise, but even her hair looked like a modern lob. Very strange choice.

Ughh the way I’ve hated the gloves this season 😩

Honestly, I suspect they did it to suit Nicola's stature. She's such a small women, I think it was to elongate her arms and hands for elegant lines in the pastel dresses and to juxtapose her looks from the earlier seasons so she looked more like a mature woman.

I've mentioned a couple times in different threads that Season 2 was a much better attempt at having an indian vibe for kate's wardrobe, and this is a great example. The peacock color, the peacock inspired embroidery and the inlaid brooch thing (turquoise jewelry in the US is often associated with Native Americans, but it can also be found in Persia and showed up in India with the Mughal Empire). Not to mention the color is so flattering on Simone and her natural coloring. Compared to all the drab muted fabrics of season three, it's so different.

Honestly, golden brown skin and peacock blue; name a more iconic colour combination; I dare you!

They couldn’t let Kate outshine everyone else in season 3 which is why they dressed her in such atrocious outfits I expect.

This is the best scene in Bridgerton for me, it was the perfect climax after the three first episodes, the way she tells herself 'Do they want me to be the diamond? Allright, let's be the diamond and get that prince' and Violet's face like omg this girlie is not kidding, and she looks SO beautiful, both in her costume, make up and her attittude, loves it, then the music, then the fan on the floor and everyone like OKAY you have a prince kneeling in front of you. Perfection

It has the exact same vibe as season one of Gossip Girl when Serena decided she actually *would* be the queen bee that Blair was so afraid she'd be when she came back to town. She was like "Oh, you wanna play? You're afraid people want Queen Serena back? I'll show you Queen Serena." And then she just effortlessly snatched the crown back from Blair 😭 I adore Blair but that was such a power move on Serena's part lol.

The fact that I know EXACTLY what you mean? I remember clearly Serena's expression going like I will snatch your crown in a minute babes. Lolll I love pop culture

I rewatch it SO OFTEN cause it’s just so good

Me too!! And the song 'Feeling Exceptional' gives me goosebumps, amazing. Every single detail, every single face staring at her, it feels so empowering. And honestly the whole episode is excellent, it is the one I have watched the most because it feels as such good writing too, all this tension (Berbrooke, accepting her fate, liberated then heartbroken, discovering herself and her body, then deciding to go for the prince and using the little power she has in that society). And then this scene. Chef's kiss <3

Gawd how did we go from that to the shiny green mermaid hunger games costumes in season 3?

I get that they wanted to give Pen more of a figure in season 3, so Colin would "notice her" but the dresses she wore didn't seem like they fit the era. And I'm not one to notice those types of things. I mean, she looked amazing but still not close to how she should have looked back then.

They definitely didn’t. Pen’s costumes and makeup felt a lot more 1940s.

The same could be said about Lady Tilly. She looked like a femme fatale straight out of a noir film. 

I was thinking about how Lady Tilly says offhandedly “Hell of a party” at some point, which also makes more sense as a noir character, so I’m just gonna immediately headcanon that she’s a time traveler bc it’s more fun

I’m so sorry but I hate every dress Portia wears. The silhouette bothers me so much.

I love how they still haven't figured out how to pattern the laptops to fit her bust. She must be wearing improper undergarment so they can't get it closer to her sternum. So it looks loaded on her. It's a hard thing to do and the actor needs to go to multiple fittings. But there's zero time in making a lot of these outfits. But this is season 3 and this shouldn't be still happening. They should have figured it out by now how to make Porsche look good in these outfits. And all her outfits are always off and I'm fairly certain they do it not just because the featherington family is off and new money compared to everyone else. But because they can't fit it right to make The Outfits flatter the actress so they just changed the whole silhouette.

She's so remarkably poorly fitted compared to less prominent characters (Cressida prior to season 3) that I think it must be intentional 

It’s always come across as an intentional thing to me. It looks like she’s wearing clothes just a hair too small, and we know she has issues with Penelope’s weight. I just assumed it was a choice to make her look that way. If it’s an accident, that’s a really bad one.

Daphne looked so beautiful in every pale blue and lavender/lilac gown she wore. She gave off such intense Cinderella vibes! 🫧✨

I liked most of season 3's costumes, tbh. Seasons 1 and 2 were better on average, but season 3 had some gorgeous, softer looks that just hit right for me. This specific outfit from Eloise in season 3 looks beautiful on film. Every time I see it in the show I lose my breath a little. This was my very favorite S3 costume. Prettiest shade of green on her and I loved how unique the contrasting embroidery was! So many of the S3 costumes didn't work for me, but this one really did.

YES! Eloise's dresses were so good this season and Penelope's day dresses totally outshined her ballgowns. The dress she had on at the beginning of episode 3 when she talks to Eloise and then is under the willow tree with Colin UGH so freaking pretty!!!

I love how they style Eloise in Season 3. It's very distinctive and elegant and understated at the same time. It also bothers me a little, because the costume designers clearly knew what they were doing to some extent. How did they screw up so badly in other areas? I thought Kate's Season 3 outfits were atrocious. Didn't love Francesca's outfits either, especially all the shoulder puffs and tweed. Penelope's day dresses were actually really pretty, but I don't think her evening outfits were nearly as successful.

i was OBSESSED with this dress. i know a lot of people disliked how modern season 3s costumes were, but this dress was incredible.

Overall I did dislike a lot of the costumes but this one stole my breath, it’s such a beautiful nod to Kate’s heritage and her homesickness for india, and I love that Anthony loves her so much he’s willing to have their baby in India so she can give birth in the place she grew up

This was one of my absolute favorites! Not only of her costumes, but in the entire series. Absolutely stunning and a really creative mixture of different styles. A total mixture of cultures, which I definitely can appreciate as a biracial/bi-cultural person

Love this color, it's like a darker, richer Bridgerton Blue and really vibes with her state of mind at this point in the season. Phoebe has such light coloring that the pale costumes really suit her, so when she wears these darker tones it stands out. Still absolutely beautiful on her, of course.

I really wished they had given Pen more soft, natural glow up hairstyles like Daphne's and Kate's. So many of her hairstyles were so gelled and stiff and fussy. She looks so gorgeous with her natural hair irl.. .

All the brides have been beautiful but Penelope in this look was just the most stunning. Love the entire look.

There’s so many I’ve thought are lovely but I haven’t paid too much attention to the exact outfits I like the most. However, I’m a fan of a swishy coat and I quite like Colin’s coat in S3, I also like his hot air balloon outfit.

Anything Queen Charlotte wears, because while it's historically inacurate, they look so good. And Daphne's white gown at the ball in episode 3 of season 1, where she dances with the prince. And a shout out to her wedding gown. Kate's hunting outfit, and her riding attire.

See how flattering it looks against the backdrop, and against Anthony’s black tailcoat. This was one of the cinematographers favorite scene to light and he had such beautiful subjects to work with. No wonder Anthony lost control by that fireplace later. On this note, the costumes peaked at S2 for me. The empire waists were actually waists, under their boobs, and not sewn across their nipples like in S1. But they also weren’t so gaudy-looking, making the show unrecognizable like S3’s costumes.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but the dress Mama Featherington wore to the butterfly ball was my favorite look of anyone for the season. Can't find a good picture of course, but it was like a peacock colored damask patterned bodice, the colors were contrasting so beautifully to me.

Considering I'm a costume maker and designer I didn't pay much attention to the costumes 😅 mostly because they're so ridiculously inaccurate that I ignore them as regency lol. I like what I see on the thread though! Honestly I loved Penelope's green reveal dress. I read somewhere that she never wears that shade again because that day kind of backfired on her, except the final ball scene she's in another lovely deep blue dress. Looks amazing with her hair. Also in the same article read how her reveal wasn't quite so striking because this time alll the bridgertons were in shades of blue, and some other characters, so Pen didnt stand out nearly as much as she could have! Loved Kate's jewel colours and her cuts and hair.

Edwina's wedding dress and how the veil sits on her head. I hate how much I love it because I hated the love triangle storyline but I just think she looks stunning.

I was going to post this same thread, so I've thought a lot about it. *Penelope season 3 - I love everything she wore! I don't care that it wasn't historically accurate. She looked gorgeous in every scene. Makeup, hair, everything! And her wedding dress was the best of the entire series. *Kate overall - I think she had a couple of misses in season 3 and I don't love some of her styling (the ponytail look in episode 7 especially), but she has the best overall costumes. *Lady Danbury's coats - with the hats, too! *Portia's silhouette - I know someone else said they don't like it, but I like that it's different than the typical empire waist, A- line cut that everyone else wears. The neck is wider, the sleeves longer, and the waist longer and more fitted. I think it's more age appropriate. She wore a lot more cropped jackets this season, though, and I didn't like her wedding look. It seemed like the top and bottom didn't go together. *Colin's vests season 3 - all the embroidered fabric and the one from the balloon episode are great! And I like his pirate coat.

They both really shined so beautifully this season (I feel like Eloise's styling didn't match her until Season 3, she was so beautiful during her debut scene). I know a lot of history fans hated Season 3 styling due to how much it branched off from being historically accurate but I think that's what made it pop out so much more! I'm sure Bridgerton wanted it's own stylistic identity away from the restrictions of Regency era fashion and it really showed!

Both Kate and Edwina’s pall mall outfits in s2! The embroidery on Kate’s purple dress was absolutely gorgeous (but still understated) and the colour of the embroidery specifically matched her gloves. I also love all of Edwina’s outfits and jewellery but she looked stunning in peach.
