This is my great regret, that I never saw the OBC cast beyond the Disney+ showing. I didn't really care about it back then as I'd just had a baby and totally missed a great opportunity.q
My dad was looking at getting me tickets to Broadway way back in 2016 (2015?) for Christmas. And when he went to the box office to buy the tickets, the only ones available (note, yes, there were tickets available! I think a new block was just released.), were for July. Now my father, who does not know anything about Broadway, and just knows I love it, said "July?! That's not much of a christmas gift."
Instead he got me Kinky Boots. Which I absolutely loved, but man, it would have been nice to see Hamilton.
My dad still sometimes beings up his missed opportunity.
I would have spent 1k+ to see Audra as Sweeney and Will as Mr. Lovett.
And perhaps just a little less to see Pippa Soo and Steven Pasquale in those roles. Though SP really has the menacing looks and acting chops for a Smoldering Sweeney.
This is my answer too. I WILL be seeing that show. Honestly I love Audra but gypsy in general is one of my all time favorites. I was lucky enough to see the revival years ago and would give anything to see it again!

My biggest splurge was Hugh Jackman in The Music Man, it wasn't the best show ever, but it was worth every penny to see Hugh, and to boot i met him for a second time at the stage door, he's a big softie and very sweet

We didn’t get to see it until April 2022 since the pandemic shuttered everything. The biggest secret I ever kept from her was that the tickets were front row center so she could bask in all the HJ glory. ☺️

I’m London based and I think the current Guys and Dolls staging is really dynamic and really like some of the dance choices but for me the show is about 20% too long and has some very unlike me mains. That being said “sit down, you’re rocking the boat” went OFF!

The Band’s Visit. Got my first real job and decided to buy season tickets to my local tours. Got it the week after Band’s Visit had already come through. Came to love the show a few months later. It was touring semi-close but I couldn’t justify the price at the time when I already had the season in my hometown.
Now the tours are done as far as I’m aware and I doubt they ever do it locally.
If NPH starred in Hedwig again or if Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan did Waiting For Godot again. Of course. It can’t happen but I’d kill to have seen Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly in True West. Also, if the original actor ever played Angel in RENT again, I’d have to be there.
I am splurging on the Les Mis tour. It isn't coming to my city so I am traveling to the nearest city it's going to (4 hours from me). This means I also have to get a hotel room for the night.

Assassins is a great community theatre show that could be “make or break” depending on the cast. I saw it at East West Players (the oldest POC theater in the US) and was so delighted at how good it was

I'm trying to see all the Sondheim shows and I will pony up $$ for any of them. This season has been fun but expensive for me. I still need to see Sunday, The Frogs, Anyone Can Whistle, and a few others.
I used to joke that nothing could get me to NYC as quick as a Fleetwood Mac Broadway show, combining my two obsessions. And then I heard about Stereophonic, so.
With the original choreography, green eyes, and score all in tact please. I'll always love the show but the latest Broadway revival and national tour were stale in comparison to what it once was. It's really sad to see such a massive show stripped down so much. I saw it in Tokyo in 2019 and it was very similar to the original (minus the unique Japanese choreography and costumes): the entire theater was the set, it had the full original score, and it was the original run time of 2.5 hours not including intermission. There were slow moments where characters took their time to move across the stage, or there were pauses in the music, which allows the audience to breathe in between the fast paced songs and take in the atmosphere. I feel like the recent revival was rushing through every scene. The original show had so many "quiet" moments. God I miss it.
Sigh.
It really needs a budget to transport the audience into the world so that they suspend disbelief, and the recent tours have been so threadbare. The Tokyo production sets a really high bar. I’d love to see it in Japan, because I think it’s the closest we’re going to get to the magic of the original.
If Seth MacFarlane ever decides to do a musical on Broadway, I don’t care what, I’d so be there, he has an amazing voice. Also I saw the Fathom Events showing of the staged version of Spirited Away from Japan last year and I was blown away, if they ever bring that to Broadway it’d be a lock for every technical Tony.
A couple months ago, I visited my old college for a show that a former student group of mine was doing. I stayed an extra day and spent an extra 200-300 dollars between a hotel room, food, and other amenities, JUST so I could also catch the Moulin Rouge tour. It was worth every penny.
If they did a revival of Rent or Aida I'd absolutely see those. Especially if any of the OBC was in it, even in smaller roles. I'd also have to heavily consider any production featuring Kirsten Chenoweth, Sutton Foster, Audra McDonald, Bernadette Peters, Lea Salonga or Aaron Tveit, depending on the show. I honestly wish all of them would do more films or TV so I can bask in their talent in a more accessible way. ( I miss Pushing Daisies and Private Practice y'all. And I'm LIVING for Anthony Rapp in Star Trek, even if its not my favorite of the franchise).
Having seen both the OBC and a heavily non-OBC cast for Mean Girls, I will agree that the cast makes a HUGE difference for the show.
No hate to anyone, these are all people doing a job and working very hard, but I honestly did not enjoy the Janis character without Barrett Wilbert Weed playing her, however the show was loads better (for me) *without* OBC Cady…

If they ever brought back any version of Assassins or The Threepenny Opera, I'd be there so fast. I was in high school during the last Broadway revivals of both shows, so I was old enough to know they looked like my jam, but not old enough to have much money lol.
Assassins is a great community theatre show that could be “make or break” depending on the cast. I saw it at East West Players (the oldest POC theater in the US) and was so delighted at how good it was
The 2004 production of Assassins was one of my top 5 theatre experiences of all time. It was stunning.

A transfer of the current London run of Guys and Dolls
A replica production of the OG RSC Carrie, in all its ghastly camp glory. I'd pay through the nose to get a firsthand look at it, and I'd go frequently enough that FOH would get concerned.

I'm trying to see all the Sondheim shows and I will pony up $$ for any of them. This season has been fun but expensive for me. I still need to see Sunday, The Frogs, Anyone Can Whistle, and a few others. I used to joke that nothing could get me to NYC as quick as a Fleetwood Mac Broadway show, combining my two obsessions. And then I heard about Stereophonic, so.
Already did it with Into The Woods! Grew up watching the stage recording and couldnt miss seeing it in person

With the original choreography, green eyes, and score all in tact please. I'll always love the show but the latest Broadway revival and national tour were stale in comparison to what it once was. It's really sad to see such a massive show stripped down so much. I saw it in Tokyo in 2019 and it was very similar to the original (minus the unique Japanese choreography and costumes): the entire theater was the set, it had the full original score, and it was the original run time of 2.5 hours not including intermission. There were slow moments where characters took their time to move across the stage, or there were pauses in the music, which allows the audience to breathe in between the fast paced songs and take in the atmosphere. I feel like the recent revival was rushing through every scene. The original show had so many "quiet" moments. God I miss it. Sigh.
It really needs a budget to transport the audience into the world so that they suspend disbelief, and the recent tours have been so threadbare. The Tokyo production sets a really high bar. I’d love to see it in Japan, because I think it’s the closest we’re going to get to the magic of the original.

If Seth MacFarlane ever decides to do a musical on Broadway, I don’t care what, I’d so be there, he has an amazing voice. Also I saw the Fathom Events showing of the staged version of Spirited Away from Japan last year and I was blown away, if they ever bring that to Broadway it’d be a lock for every technical Tony.
I love Spirited Away so much. If a stage production ever comes anywhere near me, I’m there without a second thought.

A couple months ago, I visited my old college for a show that a former student group of mine was doing. I stayed an extra day and spent an extra 200-300 dollars between a hotel room, food, and other amenities, JUST so I could also catch the Moulin Rouge tour. It was worth every penny.

If they did a revival of Rent or Aida I'd absolutely see those. Especially if any of the OBC was in it, even in smaller roles. I'd also have to heavily consider any production featuring Kirsten Chenoweth, Sutton Foster, Audra McDonald, Bernadette Peters, Lea Salonga or Aaron Tveit, depending on the show. I honestly wish all of them would do more films or TV so I can bask in their talent in a more accessible way. ( I miss Pushing Daisies and Private Practice y'all. And I'm LIVING for Anthony Rapp in Star Trek, even if its not my favorite of the franchise).

Having seen both the OBC and a heavily non-OBC cast for Mean Girls, I will agree that the cast makes a HUGE difference for the show. No hate to anyone, these are all people doing a job and working very hard, but I honestly did not enjoy the Janis character without Barrett Wilbert Weed playing her, however the show was loads better (for me) *without* OBC Cady…
