Definitely. See you there!
P.S. I'm going to be so disappointed if I find that this whole thing was a joke. Give the people what they want: true stories of handsome, athletic, single, straight men attending musicals and the women who spot them in the wild! 💗
Um.. I.. uh.. 😳
Actually I didn’t clock the color of the shoes lolll. Shirt or bag??
But the people (and I) want to know some of the other important info here too..
Dude I never got the chance to thank you for buying me that new car. You must make a LOT of money to afford that on a New York salary. Oh and also for saving my cat from that apartment fire, that was pretty cool 👍🏻
"Excuse me. Why didn't you call me? We spent a beautiful night together, and I haven't heard from you since. Sorry for what? For breaking my heart, or for giving me the greatest pleasure I've ever known and just taking it away?"
Believe it or not, I’m actually his older sister. Who happens to also be single and obsessed with going to shows. Sometimes we go to shows together, but last night was not one of those times. Imagine my delight when I saw the post, thought this might have been about my brother given the climbing shoes, and then saw his response later 😂
This is hilarious hahaha, this post has given me so much joy today. And as another single theatre obsessed female I can totally understand OP’s pov. Good luck to your brother and the OP👀👀 I’m so rooting for these strangers I have never met. Isn’t Reddit just amazing
![gif](giphy|2LM1PMisy0Lvo0qmp8|downsized)
Raise your hand if you, like me, will be going tonight to hopefully 1. get a rush ticket and 2. scope out handsome, athletic, cultured, single straight men.
We should go by stoplight rules: wear red if taken, yellow if it’s complicated, and green if you’re single and looking. Now if only we can get the whole community on board hahaa
I honestly think it's a wonderful idea! Theater is an unusual hobby--- the men on dating apps generally don't get it lol.
Odds for straight men are way better than for straight women though.
Haha- people are so incredibly uninformed about theater generally. If they know of Hamilton or maybe have seen Wicked or Lion King- that's already commendable. Lots of people are simply like "Theater is not my thing" or "Oh haha, my grandparents liked theater in the olden days."
I don’t blame them given the inaccessibility of theatre in general. But the willingness and ability to appreciate and love the art is something I would very much appreciate!
Also a single, straight man who goes to all the shows. Sometimes I’ll try to drag a friend along, but usually it’s easier to just get a cheap, last-minute solo ticket.
I scored one of those unsold accessible seats too! The strategy of going up to the box office just before a show and asking nicely sometimes yields surprising results, particularly if you only need a single ticket.
I can't help you find your handsome stranger, sadly, but as for the expressions on stage, I recommend picking up a pair of cheap opera glasses or low magnification binoculars. I have this $12 pair from Amazon and I use them heavily at NYCC - that rear mezzanine section feels like it's in the next building over. I've been shocked by how much they elevate the experience. [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BVD2DHDB/](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BVD2DHDB/)
How much did you pay, and were you also in rear mezz? What time do you recommend going to the box office? 30 mins before curtain?
I really want to see the show but am not going to pay over $100. Much of their inventory is too expensive and hardly any opportunity for discounted tickets. I almost always pay less for a good Broadway orchestra seat through TKTS or other methods but any decent seats at NYCC are always $150-200+.
That theater has poor sightlines, especially when people are leaning forward that I spend a lot of time trying to find a good seat but with the price factored, I’ll be in the nosebleeds. I find it hard to get a good bang for my buck there, even though I generally love the productions.
Do you happen to be under 35? NYCC’s Access City Center program provides balcony/mezz tickets for $28 for all their shows for people 35 and younger, [it’s a wonderful program.](https://www.nycitycenter.org/Access)
I also just looked at what’s available for Titanic right now (checked Sunday’s matinee) and there are tons of seats for $70 or $45 in the balcony. I choose the balcony for every show I see there, the view is fantastic and there is plenty of legroom. Depending on how much set they decide to have there can be some obstructed view for things happening way upstage, but frequently they put the orchestra there and stage most of the action further downstage.
If you’re willing to be a little flexible about your seats they have a lot of good, cheaper options available.
I got an email with a code for 20% off full priced tickets: TKTTITANIC but I agree, with so many rush and lottery options for full Broadway productions I often end up missing NYCC shows since they have so few affordable options
Agree, you will definitely still find affordable tickets, though many will be in the balcony if you’re okay with that. For what it’s worth I showed up 30 minutes before curtain and there were these and other slightly more but still under $100 options. Good luck, hope you’re able to se it!
I paid like $50 for my rear mezz tickets. Can second the suggestion of using binoculars, I used them a little during both Mattress and Titanic while sitting a mile away at NYCC. I'm often cautious and don't watch the whole show through them because I'm afraid the ushers will think I'm bootlegging... although I doubt booters are lifting anything to their eyes, lol.
Well, I think what people usually do - definitely what I do - is switch between using them to zoom in on individual performers or details, and then not using them so you can take in the full effect of the stage. I think traditional opera glasses might generally be 5x magnification? So a little less. But I didn’t want to drop a ton of money on this experiment, and all the opera glasses I found were much more expensive.
I have nothing to add but I just want to say how this reminds me of [Coleman Domingo's story of how he met his husband](https://youtu.be/L544aI98cX4?si=lB5gYSG80ggORjvJ). Best of luck!
Of all the multitudes of where to sit/what to see/understudy posts that pile up on this sub, this is the reason I love this subreddit- posts like these. I really hope the stars align for you.
If you don't know Ramin, please familiarize yourself as he is one of my favorites. He was Nick in the recent revival of Funny Girl, was the Phantom for many productions including the filmed 25th anniversary performance, was Jean Vilejean in Les Miserables among other shows I'm forgetting. I missed out on seeing him in Titanic by a week on my spring trip, but get to see him next week in a cabaret type performance in Toronto. He's also gonna to be in the Pirates of Penzance revival in April next year with David Hyde Pierce from Frasier.
Oh, I love this so much! Cheering you on!
I, too, am a theatre loving single gal that frequently attends alone. I love to know that there are others that don’t let that stop them from seeing shows! Here’s to hoping we all get seated next to our special someone’s one day soon!
This is how Kate and Jim Farrell would connect if they met on a boat in 2024. If you bring hiking shoes into a theater, I'm going to assume you can also row, so they're good.
I’m so late to this (wedding?) party but AHHH THIS IS SO CUTE!! I saw the evening performance yesterday and navigating just to say hi to some friends sitting in the middle of the section during intermission was a harrowing experience. This method of reaching out is far superior!!
No help as in California, but I love this. Sending all boy finding luck your way.
Also maybe check city center tags and mentions on IG? Maybe he posted something?
It’s someone different each time. Sometimes it’s someone famous, like Victoria Clark from Kimberly Akimbo, but most of the time it’s just someone from the cast.
I was wondering specifically who it was last night. I couldn’t tell from my seat. Maybe it was someone from the cast since I didn’t see an announcement???
This is so cute and not creepy at all, and I mean that genuinely because a creepy person would find the seat number, befriend someone who works in the box office and make up a reason to know who sat there during that performance
Nothing creepy about this. This is legit how “missed connections” worked on Craigslist before all the apps were around. I say that as someone who isn’t quite old enough to have used it, but know my history.
This is legitimately me…. Yellow climbing shoes and first row right mez to confirm
If we comment on this, we are allowed to go to the wedding. That's how Reddit works, right?
adding a comment to be invited to this Broadway-themed wedding
Definitely. See you there! P.S. I'm going to be so disappointed if I find that this whole thing was a joke. Give the people what they want: true stories of handsome, athletic, single, straight men attending musicals and the women who spot them in the wild! 💗
I can’t believe this worked ohmygod
Those are the rules! I guess we'd best all get our fancy clothes ready!
Commenting so I, too, am invited to this magical wedding.
Um.. I.. uh.. 😳 Actually I didn’t clock the color of the shoes lolll. Shirt or bag?? But the people (and I) want to know some of the other important info here too..
Shirt: light grey. Blue: pants and bag. Status: single and straight
Um, yea, wow. This is wild, down with the haters 😂. What did you think of the show? Have a long work day but i WILL be circling back!
Show was great! Ramin was a standout of course and it was nice to see some of Fleet Street on stage again (I see you’re also a big Sweeney fan) 😉
This is the best part of my day and it just begun. We are in the room where it happened!! (I'll go now)
Agreed! This is fantastic. I'm excited for them. And also jealous. You go girl! Single straight athletic broadway fan?? Yes.
Be still, my beating heart
Seems like it’s time to move this over to DMs
![gif](giphy|l3xivF6cBEOQatmTQ1)
GET ITTTTT i love this so much 😭🥹
WELL?? Any updates?
If he cried at “Still”, at least you will know he has a heart to go with his athletic build.
We require updates as events warrant!!
![gif](giphy|nlHb0IXPsikBTSmCbw|downsized)
This just got randomly suggested to me on my front page but I am ALL IN on following up on this
Stop it I love this so much 🥹🥹🥹
Oh my gosh. I really need you two to go get a coffee. This would be the best meet cute of all time.
Someone should make a musical of this /s
As will I. 😂😂
Please go on a date with this man!!! I’m rooting for yall!
Can confirm he is straight.
As can I. 😀
A little confused what’s going on here. Are you guys all friends of this dark haired athletic build theatre loving man?
I'm a climbing friend of the theatre loving man (can also confirm that he honestly loves the theatre and frequently attends)
Loving the involvement from all friends and family lolll
Oh my god, this is the best.
Well don’t leave us hanging, what’s your status? 😆
Very happily married
The good ones usually are!
Ohmygod this is all more endearing lol
This is hilarious hahaha, this post has given me so much joy today. And as another single theatre obsessed female I can totally understand OP’s pov. Good luck to your brother and the OP👀👀 I’m so rooting for these strangers I have never met. Isn’t Reddit just amazing
I’m so invested in this now!
ME TOO
Oh I’m invested! Wishing you both luck ☺️
I’m so excited now
Please reunite at the top of the Empire State building in 6 months.
patiently waiting for OP to see this comment 👀
Honestly, I’m impatiently waiting. 🙃😜
I’m patiently waiting with you 👀
No way!!!!! Wait, I love this so much ☺️☺️
👀👀👀
Seriously
Um do you have any other single male friends who like theater? I’ll be in the wedding party with them…
No fucking way
Omg this is amazing
If this is true I am so invested and in love with this right now.
oh my god
you win the lottery right here
This is simply the most thrilling
Yay! This is so exciting!! Perhaps meant to be! 💃🏼🕺
This is incredible!
Hey hey! You’re in my Discord group!
![gif](giphy|2LM1PMisy0Lvo0qmp8|downsized) Raise your hand if you, like me, will be going tonight to hopefully 1. get a rush ticket and 2. scope out handsome, athletic, cultured, single straight men.
I’m convinced that this is not a species that exists. Or if they do, I’ve never been lucky enough to encounter them
We do exist! (except the handsome part is subjective lol) Idk how to advertise myself. Should I bring a sign?
![gif](giphy|UQsfXTwnwJLHrqY93f|downsized) Oh hey there theater zaddy, how you doin?
![gif](giphy|KQm5O05y9rzQA)
At my age they are either married or have too much baggage, lol
As a straight single man who goes to the theater by himself often, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous of this 😅
As a single female who goes to the theatre by herself, how do we find you in the wild 😂
We should go by stoplight rules: wear red if taken, yellow if it’s complicated, and green if you’re single and looking. Now if only we can get the whole community on board hahaa
Update the cups and playbills in the theatre and have a stoplight party!
Seconding this comment. What a world!
Just a quick FYI, I happen to be the missed connection’s older, single sister who loves theatre and sports. 😉
It’s time we summon all the single theatre fans on this sub and do a match making🙌I’m all in for this
I honestly think it's a wonderful idea! Theater is an unusual hobby--- the men on dating apps generally don't get it lol. Odds for straight men are way better than for straight women though.
I’ve had this exact same conversation with a friend before too lol. Sometimes people just comment back with ‘Hamilton?’ and I’m like 😐
Haha- people are so incredibly uninformed about theater generally. If they know of Hamilton or maybe have seen Wicked or Lion King- that's already commendable. Lots of people are simply like "Theater is not my thing" or "Oh haha, my grandparents liked theater in the olden days."

agreed!
I’ll be first in line!
Taking a page out of OP’s book and shooting your shot? I love the initiative, my DMs are open 😏
This whole thread is going to make for an interesting family dinner this weekend
Ok subscribing to THIS too!!!
You've started a movement!
Also a single, straight man who goes to all the shows. Sometimes I’ll try to drag a friend along, but usually it’s easier to just get a cheap, last-minute solo ticket.
And when she gets to America, she’s gonna marry him, but he doesn’t know it yet.
i want to be a lady’s maid….
i miss craigslist

No, unfortunately I aged out last year.
I’m not saying they don’t check your ID but I’m not not saying it

As one single, theatre-going lady to another, I really hope you find him.
You’re just like that couple from Titanic, only no one dies!
Yet
I love this post so much and am sending you bounds and bounds of luck 🥹🥹
And I saw yesterday’s Titanic post so I know at least a handful of you were there tonight!! 😂
I have nothing to add but I just want to say how this reminds me of [Coleman Domingo's story of how he met his husband](https://youtu.be/L544aI98cX4?si=lB5gYSG80ggORjvJ). Best of luck!
I just watched that video last night and it was in my brain the entire time I read this post.
I am loving this and unbelievably invested lol
Same, and as a voracious romance reader I want a novelization someday
You didn’t have any interaction with him just saw him?
this is some anthony in sweeney todd type shit “id loved you even as i saw you even as it did not matter that i did not know your name”
As a big Sweeney fan, I will embrace this jab. :) But it seems the jury is mixed in here!
Fun fact - the athletic man is a fan of Sweeney too
That's good enough for me. lol
A single man, at a musical, with an athletic build and rock climbing shoes? I don’t think he plays for your team 🤭
This is a REAL possibility. Though I would still be amused if this got to him.
Do the…rock climbing shoes…. give something away? I (a gay man) think that is the only possible clue that he’s straight. Good luck OP!
And I, a gay man, know plenty of gay men who rock climb
But would bring the shoes to a musical? Lol
If it’s bad you can rappel out a window.
Best comment
Down from the mezz into the orchestra
If my day was leave home, go to work, go to the gym, go to the show, go back home, then yes.
I, a gay man, see your point.
With the day off, I went to the climbing gym with friends, hung out a little, and went to the show.
Wait, so it’s you?
Maybe just generalizations would be nice
If he’s on Broadway Reddit, for sure 😂
Hey! As a straight man on Broadway subreddit, there are probably dozens of us!
I can confirm there are at least two of us!
Three of us.
Four of us
The odds are real good for the 4 of you. There's probably at 40 single single straight woman in this thread alone. lol
5️⃣
As a single man who goes and see’s shows solo VERY often, this is adorable and I’m jealous😂😂
I think it's time to have singles nights!
Absolutely lol (I think we just need a dating app for theatre fans, someone get on that)
Of all the multitudes of where to sit/what to see/understudy posts that pile up on this sub, this is the reason I love this subreddit- posts like these. I really hope the stars align for you. His original music is really good too.
I saw him doing a solo concert about a decade ago, hard agree!!
Please why am I kicking and giggling and twirling my hair as I read this
Oh, I love this so much! Cheering you on! I, too, am a theatre loving single gal that frequently attends alone. I love to know that there are others that don’t let that stop them from seeing shows! Here’s to hoping we all get seated next to our special someone’s one day soon!
2026 Broadway Season: this love story, in musical form. All commenters get a role in the ensemble
This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m legit fanning myself with my hand, as if I’m having a case of the vapors.
Love this!! Thanks for the reminder I need to go out alone more often :)
LOVE seeing these other missed connection threads on r/broadway!! 🤩
how do I RSVP for the wedding?
This is how Kate and Jim Farrell would connect if they met on a boat in 2024. If you bring hiking shoes into a theater, I'm going to assume you can also row, so they're good.
See that good looking one up ahead? I'm planning to marry him! When that's gonna be? Soon as I meet him!

Can we get weekly updates? 🥺
The new tindr is looking confused at Titanic the musical
Just a note: if you actually haven’t heard Ramin before, you have to watch/listen to Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall.
And Les Mis at the O2!
And also 2014 Les Mis on YouTube
This is so wholesome. I love it.
Already coming up with names for the hallmark movie that will be made out of this story.
I attended titanic alone yesterday. I wish this was my story. I'm going to the show again tomorrow...so perhaps another shot?
went to titanic today hoping this would happen to me but turns out i am not this lucky!
I’m so late to this (wedding?) party but AHHH THIS IS SO CUTE!! I saw the evening performance yesterday and navigating just to say hi to some friends sitting in the middle of the section during intermission was a harrowing experience. This method of reaching out is far superior!!
Would love an update.
Came here for the same!
I am not that man, but I wish you the best of luck! You never know 😉
I love this post, I hope he responds 🤞🤞🤞
No help as in California, but I love this. Sending all boy finding luck your way. Also maybe check city center tags and mentions on IG? Maybe he posted something?
I was at tonight’s show. This is fun! I hope you find your mystery man!
Love this for you. I hope you find them!!!
I sending you positive vibes and good luck 🫶🏻
I was at the show last night but missed your man. I also missed who the actor was who missed the ship. Can anyone share his identity?
It’s someone different each time. Sometimes it’s someone famous, like Victoria Clark from Kimberly Akimbo, but most of the time it’s just someone from the cast.
I was wondering specifically who it was last night. I couldn’t tell from my seat. Maybe it was someone from the cast since I didn’t see an announcement???
🍿
Came to this post from Twitter; anyone else?!? ❤️🎭🎶
this is literally the CUTEST THING
this is so cute omg
Is this going to become the basis for a Broadway musical?!
This is so cute and not creepy at all, and I mean that genuinely because a creepy person would find the seat number, befriend someone who works in the box office and make up a reason to know who sat there during that performance
[удалено]
Nothing creepy about this. This is legit how “missed connections” worked on Craigslist before all the apps were around. I say that as someone who isn’t quite old enough to have used it, but know my history.
Guy sounds sumptuous! 😛 Glad you did not reveal too much about the show. Hate when there is so much there that I can figure out the ending.
I mean… it’s Titanic
i’m glad i was never this single
