Never lived there, just dispatched the PD there back in the day. As with any town, the WHERE can matter. I mean, it wasn’t for nothing there was a federally funded cop on duty at all times in Bloomsdale Gardens. Each neighborhood had its ups/downs too. Heck, there are places I’d prefer to avoid nearby to me in Warminster as well.

Diskyboy86

Yeah, there's a few not so great areas in Warminster like you said. Lacey Park or Warminster Heights was notoriously seedy for a good few decades, but thankfully has turned things around somewhat since the 90's and now has a crime rate below the national average. Bristol Township, Bensalem and parts of Morrisville, the areas near Trenton, not the areas that are basically just Yardley, ain't great either, but really, anywhere can be safe or as dangerous as you want. If you have some common sense and are aware of your surrounding you can be good just about anywhere. My parents grew up in Bensalem and North Philladelphia respectively and both avoided crime just fine.

Due_Variation7470

Not really a Shady part of Doylestown, Newtown or New Hope tho frfr

fire_stopper

Yeah-crime there is mostly white collar! 🤣

futurehistorianjames

I’d rather deal with the criminals and shady people of Bristol then the pretentiousness of some people from Newtown where are the record? I do love Newtown and went to Bucks up there, but yeah, there are some really a holy people.

Diskyboy86

I'll never forgive Newtown for not letting the Newtown Rail Trail be extended north. I'd love to bike from Tamenend Park to Newtown Borough, but sadly it wasn't meant to be 😔

Due_Variation7470

Maybe, but my best friends are from Newtown and none of their family is like that. But I get what you're saying. To me quite honestly it all sucks. It's all bullshit full of people who are full of shit. I love aspects of the county. But it's just too God damn much at times. The one thing I will always commend Bucks for, primarily central Bucks cause I know it's definitely not all the same, is the education in CB schools is outstanding. Those teachers work really fuckin hard, and basically every last one of them really fuckin cares. I didn't fully appreciate it when I was in those schools, cause I didn't quite see it I guess. But if only more schools districts in the country were of such quality. The one thing that makes the cost of living certainly worth it.

futurehistorianjames

As a teacher in Philly, I appreciate that

Informal_Advance_380

I dunno man, I live in Philly and have been caught up in two shootings. Never had someone in Newtown say something to me worse than hearing shots pop off.

futurehistorianjames

I lived in North Philly for two years near Olney in Germantown would still rather live there than The Newtown. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a beautiful place and very peaceful but there’s a lot of people up there. Who show signs of being Karen’s and to be honest I’d rather deal with the shootings than that

Informal_Advance_380

Well, to each their own my friend 🤝

TheNavyBlueOtter

As someone currently living in Bristol who lived in Perkasie, I really like it down here. I plan on permanently moving down here eventually

Diskyboy86

I'm just going off the stereotypes. I myself don't think it's too bad. Lower Bucks in general gets a bad rap. Bensalem, Levittown, Morrisville, Tullytown, Croydon always get shat on. They're obviously not as classy as Newtown or Yardley, but there's far worse areas in the state.

Due_Variation7470

Quakertown Sellersville N Perkasie don't got great reps either lol

Front_Remote106

All those towns are better then Bristol for the most part barely no crime at all

SouthernProfile1092

I’ll take Quaketowm, Sellersville and Perkasie over Bristol.

1wholurks

Has Q town evolved? I recall going to Qmart and playing count the mullets many many moons ago.

SouthernProfile1092

Guilty pleasure, going to QMart for a victory lap and counting guys with pony tails. Record was 8 if I remember right. It changed a bit over the last 10 years, I don’t think it’s that bad other than a few known spots (bush house)

LocalSlob

What reps do they have?

Shortymac09

Because a bunch of yuppies from Yardley are moving in and they are losing their sheltered minds

isitreallyyou56

No one from Yardley or newtown is moving in there. It’s people from center city Philly and nyc that moved in during Covid are are continuing to move in. Yardley and newtown are mostly 50+ in age and not going anywhere.

SUBHUMAN_RESOURCES

The borough is cool but we left when we had kids. School district becomes the big driver and both the borough and township (Truman) are terrible.

Ttvr4ever

Yeah city folk are buying up Levittown houses, on top of the rental properties, the adult children living with parents etc. the area has most definitely gone down hill. I had to move. Kenwood is not the same as it once was when I was younger.

Shortymac09

Oh please, kenwood is Levittown not Bristol!

Organic-Pudding-8204

Only thing that sucks in Bristol is WM. Outside of that bunch of haters. Radcliffe has million dollar homes and a history dating back before the constitution. 1681 - I moved up and down the east coast Florida, NC, MD, Washington, and I'm happy to have settled & raised my family here. Also, f Virginia.

ValiMeyers

Live in Philly a while. That’ll change your outlook.

"Bristol is just assumed to be bad because we have low income apartments." Now hang on. We have more than just low-income apartments. We have: * homeless guys under the awning of every vacant building * more halfway houses than we have total square footage of Class A office space across the entire township * one of the worst public school systems in all of Bucks County * a road system that will shake any phone off your truck's MagSafe charger * inadequate parks * public works department that relies on solar ice removal methods * a waste collection system that decreases in service offerings every year * a code enforcement division that has no interest in enforcing anything but every interest in revenue generation * a code provision requiring every home have sidewalks along their street, but the township doesn't put sidewalks on any of its streets

mike-smit

>a code provision requiring every home have sidewalks along their street, but the township doesn't put sidewalks on any of its streets This one kills me in particular. Not only are the main thoroughfares throughout the town unwalkable in the classic suburban sprawling sense, but not even the residential areas are very walkable! Sidewalks constantly disappear into gross weed-filled ditches along already narrow streets with poor visibility.

staburself321

Some scumbags floating around but aren’t they everywhere lol lived I. Philly my whole life until I bought a home out here 2 years ago and don’t regret it

Front_Remote106

I’m a Philly dude that came to the Bristol twp not to long ago a lot of it has a Philly vibe to it but your not ducking bullets all the time

two2teps

Bristol Township is just Northeast, Northeast Philadelphia.

Diskyboy86

Nah, that's Bensalem. Bristol Township is Northeast, Northeast, Northeast Philladelphia.

Successful_Tap_4170

Yeah, fair. I think it's pretty quiet compared to Point Breeze.

SUBHUMAN_RESOURCES

Yeah it is, unfortunately

BadMojoPA

I grew up in Yardley Borough, moved to Lower Makefield Township when I was a teen, then moved to Newark, Delaware for 10 years and have been in Bristol Township for the past 7 years. Of all those places, Bristol Township has been the worst.

Shortymac09

Oh come on buddy, Bristol Township is not that bad, you make it sounds like Camden

edodee

Well you've been pretty fortunate most of your life. Facing world's reality is difficult for many

What is this

Key-Crab4035

Humor is one thing. Its just not funny. Thanks for the attempt not everything lands where intended.

Diskyboy86

Humor. Not a lot of people in Bucks County are familiar with such a thing.

Due_Variation7470

Lol

Diskyboy86

I've been proven wrong... also it was a joke guys, chill on those downvotes lol

dbe7

There are good and bad areas. You just lived in one of the bad ones I guess.

SUMYD

Having just moved to Ambler....Where should I not go?

ifukkedurbich

As someone unfamiliar with the area, what's the dealwith Bristol Township?

Diskyboy86

It's got a crime rate above the state average, outdated infrastructure, and is just kinda run down and trashy. It's pretty much just Bensalem 2, only some say it's even worse than Bensalem. I personally don't think it's that bad. It's not somewhere you'd want to live but it's a fine area to visit for restaraunts and what not. The borough is overall much nicer. It's just a nice little vintage town area like New Hope. Apparently the outer areas still aren't great, nor is its school district, but it's overall seen as safer and better kept.

Nashburg

What is your beef with Bensalem?

Diskyboy86

Eh, it's a lot of things. My mom grew up in Bensalem, Trevose specifically, and I went to Bensalem all the time as a child. I used to love all the restaraunts, Neshaminy Mall and Benjamin Rush State Park, but as the more northern areas of Bucks County have jazzed up, Bensalem kinda fell behind the pack. Nowadays, they're only claim to fame really is Parx Casino, but there's just so much missed potential in the whole township. Neshaminy Mall is in a sorry state these days. I visited it and Willow Grove Mall in the same week not to long ago and the difference was striking. Also, some of the development going on there is baffling, like not too long ago I saw luxury houses being built across a trailer park, like what? This isn't Newtown guys. Yet, despite this, there's so many abandoned storefronts and what not that hasn't been touched in years. The development is there, just not in the right places. On the whole the areas just kinda rough looking, not the best kept. Linconia for example was notoriously a poor black community in its early years, but now has been built up with big luxury houses which had helped the community racially diversify, yet the blacks still remain in the old run down houses, while the whites all live in the big new houses. That's not racial equality to me. Bensalem has so much potential, but it's just been getting worse and worse for years. Maybe the hotel at Parc Casino that's set to be built can turn things around?

Diskyboy86

That was the borough, not the township. The borough has always been nicer.
