Duck fries were really good. I was young when I went there and was amazed by the beer selection. And how small it was, I remember hanging out on the stairs
I remember as a kid, the one on Maple Road. Anyways, we were driving with my grandparents, and I said can we go to Rudd fuckers. They both turned around, and I immediately knew my mistake. I said no, I meant Fuddruckers. They just started laughing. That's because grandparents are cool
There's one ~~5 minutes over the border in Ft. Erie!~~ 25 minutes over the border in NF. Just went in May and it was just as delicious, although they long ago got rid of the finger bowls with hot water and lemon to clean your greasy fingers!
The best for catering bachelor parties. Food for 25 guys was $550. He told me he charges by the head but brings for the type of audience. 25 kids cost the same as 25 drunk guys and he BROUGHT THE FOOD.
My dad used the same damn joke every time we went for the pay what you weigh special. I'd get on the scale and he'd joke for me to take a couple laps around the parking lot and the poor hostess had to fake laugh every time.
I had a few birthday parties there as a kid, that's how much I loved Ground Round! The hugeTV kn the wall, peanut shells on the ground, the sundaes in the baseball hats. Good times, good times.
My memory of the Ground Round at the Seneca Mall is sitting and having beer and peanuts waiting to see if it was going to clear up when the Blizzard of 77 started to hit. It didn't so I hit up the liquor store right there that was still open. Went back in the mall to the store I worked at and left 3 days later.
The best dessert in Buffalo!!! Keep your eyes open though, they had them at Carmelo’s in Lewiston for a time and had them as cupcakes at the “A Cooks Tour” event last week
Was literally the most beautiful restaurant + patio downtown. The vibes of going to a fancy French restaurant on a beautiful summer evening and sitting on their back patio transported you far away from Buffalo and had you feeling like you were on a private terrace tucked away in France. The foliage, the fountain, the flowers... it was heaven.
I got married there on the back patio and it was absolutely magical. We got to return on our first anniversary but I think it closed shortly after that. Totally heartbroken, it was a very special place.
Ponderosa and their all you can eat buffet, for childhood nostalgia purposes. The fried chicken and mac and cheese flavors/smells are ingrained in my brain decades later for some reason
Niagara Falls represent!
I discovered last year that the Tonawanda Carousel Museum has some of the attractions from Whistle Pig.
Every year I still make a "whistle pig" for Memorial Day. Bacon Dog with Cheddar Sauce. Can't be beat.
SATO Brewpub was my favorite of the 3 SATO locations. Amazing location and some of the more unique and tasty craft beer that I’ve had.
Been to KDara once since they opened there… and honestly the place felt really off. Food was fine though.
Sterling Place Tavern
The burgers were so good and it was just so family run authentic. Multiple times it would just say closed we are at the beach in Canada.
The new place is inauthentic.
I used to work there back in 2006-2007. I know Judy and John. Judy is now doing real estate. I miss their burgers, broiled fish, homemade potato salad, homemade coleslaw, and freshly made pies. So good 👍
I still remember their delicious artichoke francaise appetizer and wonderful patio (was the best restaurant patio in Allentown at the time). The family who ran it were super nice and from what I remember, they closed a while after their mom died who started the place.
Off the Wall. It was a unique vibe in there. Literally everything was for sale there. The tables and chairs you sat at for dinner, all for sale. The art on the wall, for sale.
I miss Ashker's!! They had a juice called the Elvis Parsley that I really liked, and I liked their paninis. Now I think there's a brewery in there and a tattoo spot? I mean the Elmwood location, I didn't go to their Blackrock one
In no particular order
Buffalo Roadhouse
Zebbs
Black Forest Adler
Gordon Biersch
Kentucky Greg's
Scharfs (only went once or twice before they closed but it would have become a fairly regular place if they were still open. Side note, with the German roots in this area why aren't there more German places?)
I miss Buffalo Proper for their cocktails. Also the Century Grill.
And Buffalo Roadhouse on NFB solely for their rolls and Parmesan peppercorn dressing.
Any of the local bagel chains that we had from the 90s on. Bruegers is trash. The only good place now is dopest dough. Driving all the way out to EA is excessive for bagels.
My family had a restaurant in the area between rochester and Buffalo. Anyone that mentions this place in this post, I will personally make you the sauce and meatballs we were famous for.
Chains: Chi-Chi's. I spent a lot of time here because my grandma liked it and my mom loved the green onion enchiladas.
Local: Bozanna's pizza in Clarence. A lot of Friday and birthday pizzas from there.
I miss Nestor’s slime dogs being open 24/7 and Louis breakfast diner was some of the best value a dollar could buy. It also helped you could get a breakfast beer if the night was long
Scirri’s in Kenmore on Delaware Ave. the epitome of hole in the wall with the greatest Italian food and pizza you’ll ever have. I crave the stuffed peppers, the lasagna, everything was amazing. Fresh bread was off the charts.
Solid Grounds. It was a great cafe and breakfast spot near the old Community Music School. All of their baked goods were made fresh in-house. I still have vivid memories of going to piano lessons next door on Saturday mornings, and then getting french toast after at SG. Miss it like crazy man.
Blue Monk - don't think the restaurant scene that exists now would be here without it
I miss the duck poutine so much. :(
Duck frites too!!
Merlin’s before that. The Clams.
The bathrooms, though. 🤮
Always made me cringe to see people eating at tables where the men's room was previously.
I lived at Ashland and Breckenridge when I went there, so I would just walk home and use my bathroom. Worth the few minute walk, imo
Duck fries were really good. I was young when I went there and was amazed by the beer selection. And how small it was, I remember hanging out on the stairs
Fuddruckers.
This, idk if it’s just childhood nostalgia or what but I always thought that place was awesome.
I remember as a kid, the one on Maple Road. Anyways, we were driving with my grandparents, and I said can we go to Rudd fuckers. They both turned around, and I immediately knew my mistake. I said no, I meant Fuddruckers. They just started laughing. That's because grandparents are cool
I pass by Anchor Bar and shake my fist nearly every time. What a loss
Just went to one of the last ones left in the country, in Great Falls, Montana this past September. It was just as fucking delicious as I remember!!
This was my favorite as a kid growing up.
Swiss chalet
There's one ~~5 minutes over the border in Ft. Erie!~~ 25 minutes over the border in NF. Just went in May and it was just as delicious, although they long ago got rid of the finger bowls with hot water and lemon to clean your greasy fingers!
There’s is not one in Fort Erie
Kentucky Greg’s! My gosh do I miss that place. Amazing food, great prices, and consistently good service.
I second that! Best fried okra and their sauce was delicious. Plus it was right near my neighborhood which was so convenient.
Outside of their BBQ sandwiches, I love their catfish fingers
I am still so sad they closed! The best bbq!
The best for catering bachelor parties. Food for 25 guys was $550. He told me he charges by the head but brings for the type of audience. 25 kids cost the same as 25 drunk guys and he BROUGHT THE FOOD.
Best gumbo
Kahunaville. Dobutsu in second.
big dobutsu
Earl's near Chaffee. My Grandpa used to take me
Where the table legs were cowboy boots.
Oh yes
Home of the Fruit Jar drinkers!
Best chicken n biscuits
They had their own radio station in the restaurant! What a classic spot.
Used to do breakfast club in high school at Earl’s now and then. It was a bit of a hike from EA but worth it! And those pies…
Hell yeah. So many pies!
Seabar
I'd do bad things for their beef on weck roll right now.
Yesss 😭😭😭
Throw another Mike A place, Cantina, in there. Edit: WTF is Cantina being downvoted? The Koreatown Taco was lights out.
I think about their miso caramel roll *a lot*. I’ve never found anything else like it.
Flying Tiger
Seconding this. Flying Tigers was great.
Thiiiiis one brings me back. I LOVED the beer-cheese soup.
The Foxglove Pub 🤣
Shorter lifespan than a 6th grade relationship
That situation is Insaneeeeeee
Any news? Or still all we know is years of planning g/investments, grand opening, close 1 week later…
The kid in me has the fondest memories of Ground Round.
The baseball cap sundaes. I must have had two dozen of those plastic caps.
This, I wish I could go back in time to have a fun family dinner at Ground Round with my parents and grandparents.
Core memory unlocked 😆
My memory of the Ground Round at the Seneca Mall is sitting and having beer and peanuts waiting to see if it was going to clear up when the Blizzard of 77 started to hit. It didn't so I hit up the liquor store right there that was still open. Went back in the mall to the store I worked at and left 3 days later.
My sister bartended at the Seneca Mall one. I still make a gallon of their Sangria for family parties.
Panos 😭
But only old one story Panos
I really miss going there for Sunday Brunch and getting the beef souvlaki breakfast and fresh squeezed OJ.
Panos is gone?? Sorry I've been AFK from Buffalo for a long time
As a kid, I always liked Perkins better than Dennys
The Pink 😭💚💜
The Black Sheep - just for their sticky toffee pudding alone
Black Sheep was good every single time. I miss it so much.
The best dessert in Buffalo!!! Keep your eyes open though, they had them at Carmelo’s in Lewiston for a time and had them as cupcakes at the “A Cooks Tour” event last week
Buffalo Proper had a really solid two years before they started going downhill and out of business.
I miss that place so much.

Suzy-Q's
I was looking for this because I was going to say this. Loved their food and they were lovely people. I think about their cornbread all the time.
You beat me to it. I miss that place so much. Best BBQ we had in WNY, no doubt.
I loved Suzy Q’s!! Glad to see it mentioned
Ziggys! They were such a staple growing up, we’d always get it when we’d go to my grandparents house.
And the spot just sitting there unused bums me out every day
Ponderosa and their all you can eat buffet, for childhood nostalgia purposes. The fried chicken and mac and cheese flavors/smells are ingrained in my brain decades later for some reason
And York Steak House, too
The Towne. Raj Mahal - it was on NF Blvd, and in the early ‘90s was my first introduction to what became a lifelong love of Indian cuisine.
I miss Tandoori on Transit so bad.
Zebb’s. Loved the burgers and toppings bar to go with it. They also had really good chocolate chip cookoes.
Whistle Pig!
That's a deep cut. Love it!
Niagara Falls represent! I discovered last year that the Tonawanda Carousel Museum has some of the attractions from Whistle Pig. Every year I still make a "whistle pig" for Memorial Day. Bacon Dog with Cheddar Sauce. Can't be beat.

This is the answer. I told my friend it was my favorite the other day and they said, “god. You are such a lesbian.” 😭
Thin Man Brewery. Loved their Wednesday night trivia
The OG Elmwood location. It’s where I met my wife for the first time upstairs on the balcony, it’s also where I purposed. Dearly missed.
