L’imprimerie has always prided itself on quality and consistency! But even the best of breads can have a bad apple! I’d say outsider, as I’ve been going there as consistently as possible for a long time (over 6 years!) and their breads and pastries never fail to deliver !

jadeworm

get starrlight sourdough loaves from the maria hernandez market on saturdays! or they also drop off fresh loaves to city fresh during the week. best sourdough loaf in town 🤩

cuckertarlson

Can vouch, it’s tasty stuff

Quarks01

omg what time is the market? i had no idea there was one

wineorwhine

~9-2

chettybaker

I had a mid sandwhich there once but all the breads and pastries have been amazing. Today they asked me my preference for the lavain(is this sourdough?): light, medium or dark. So I believe you can tell them next time. I dont bake honestly, but I also think they would have heated up another one for you.

traggedy_ann

That spot is always posting ads for bakers on Craigslist. Any place with super high turnover like that is bound to have inconsistencies with their product. For what it's worth, I haven't gone since 2020, despite living right down the street. I prefer the coffee at Mixtape or Post Factum (now Headrest?), and obviously RIP to my favorite spot, High Low Bev Co.

She Wolf, while it’s fine bread, is run by union busting monsters

idreamofchickpea

What’s the story?

childishgames

I’ve started going there less recently. Seems like they’ve had a lot of turnover and my sandwiches have been inconsistent in the last year or so. In general the bread is great tho. I actually bumped into an employee on the train one time and said hi and they started going off on a tangent on how shitty and toxic the culture is there and said she was about to quit. Could be just one disgruntled employee, but I could kinda see what she was talking about

rwdFwd

They bake on the darker side there, but you can ask for a darker or lighter bake when you order. Peek in the bag to make sure you got what you wanted. I’ve had the same experience at nearly every bakery I’ve been to.

original_hoser

Yeah, in the past I was asked if I wanted darker or lighter bake. I always opt for darker. I am just disappointed that this bake was clearly burnt and should not have been sold. I will just ask to see the bread prior to purchase moving forward. I suggest to anyone else to do the same.

rosiewhatdidyoudo

I find SheWolf to be burnt most of the time. That in combination with the news of the owners being against unionization of their employees stopped me from buying their product. If theor mini miche isn't burnt it's pretty good but at least 80% of the time it would be. I can't imagine l'imprimerie's being more burnt than SheWolf, really hope it was a one-off.

original_hoser

Didn't know that about SheWolf. I find their Miche tasty AF. In general Miche has a thicker crust so when it's burnt, it really stands out. I am assuming a one-off, but still shouldn't have been sold.

Mayhemii

Oh no! I still love L’impremerie, but still grieve the removal of the avocado toast on sourdough from the menu.

FigMajestic6096

Don't commute for a gd sandwich lol. This happens

jmlbhs

I make sourdough - happy to sell you loaves if that’d be of interest. Loaves I made a few weeks ago! https://preview.redd.it/1j7axcxp748d1.jpeg?width=5712&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ab7ac6c70b60bcbfc31d73b08f823f7b9779b11

original_hoser

If you make a Miche, I would try and buy. I like the whole wheat and rye. I understand that the rise won't be the same, and that is OK with me. Lmk. I too like making sourdough, although I got into it only during the pandemic. Make boules just became not doable with just one dutch oven and limited fridge/oven space. So I make a lot of sourdough focaccia's.

Bigdaddychungus9

Starlight is way better

original_hoser

It's not better imo, altho Starrlight is good.

PlentyEquipment367

i can say that it def got pricier - bread is good that must have been an one off - i want to try shewofl
