Next time you're in the grocery store, take a look at cheese packages. With the sliced cheese, you can look at the calories for one oz. of cheddar, provolone, etc. while getting an excellent look at what that amount looks like. Do the same with small packages of shredded cheese.

A slice of cheese is typically 100-120. A quarter cup of shredded cheese is the same. Probably safe if the restaurant is accurate to begin with.
Just count the whole salad and give yourself a nice buffer for inaccuracies
