If they spread out the tokens its not a problem at least from my point of view. The pinks you can win are exactly the same from last time (just spread out differentely, you get less on the no stars part, but more on 3,4 and 5\*).
The problem you can have is that they changed the total amounts. Its less greens now, more blue and pink.
I was inclined to believe its a glitch, as yellow tokens normally aren’t necessary until about level 25-30 and up. But then the prizes are giving us yellow tokens from as early as race #5. So I think they intentionally decided to fvck us over
Absolutely and unequivocally intended. So far, with a 20% discount, I've spent 3 gold tokens at level 5, 10 and 15, 4 gold tokens at levels 18 and 25. The ONLY way this is acceptable is if there is a lower cost for the last 2 levels to incorporate the tokens spent between levels 5 and 33.

And we'll be getting the next stage of the 90s rewind soon, right after multiple, big events that required close to max cars. Nothing is done unintentionally. Everything is built and designed to make us spend as many resources as possible to make us much more likely to spend real money.

Grinding does pay off, but this event is too close to the last, and the decrease in rewards just doesn't justify it to me. I'm sitting at about 1,600 reds. The rest are maxed

I’ve been playing this game for yearsss now. NM has completely moved away from gamer experience and has strictly adopted a pay to play mentality. The prices never change and they never offer discounts. Every new type of mission requires users to spend at least $100 to maximize the experience.
Of course this is how it works. This app has been out for almost a decade, and I quit playing due to the developer's extreme greed. They are simply out for money, that's it.

And of course 30% reduction means nothing for the gold parts so they can just slowly chip away those even if you have 50%. This is so petty.

Last two levels are 60 and 100 so you’re still using 200 gold tokens overall

I would recommend you skip one and keep building up your tokens. That way you have a full or almost full supply to complete with ease

They give you 8 from the first set of rewards though and you need 10 on a 0% to get to the next barrier
