It won’t rust- it’s plastic. That being said, I’d bet most of it can be polished out. And being its location, it will be unnoticeable to most after polishing. If it feels rough like sand paper, then it’s stripped to base plastic and needs paint. This area is small enough that you can either try your hand at touch up paint or give it a light sand and spray paint (JUST THIS TINT AREA), mask up everything else. Either route you go should be cheap and a big improvement. Let us know how it goes

Claiming insuranc for these kind of scratches is not worthit, or otherwise u took damage protection from the dealer, which is extremely overprices btw, they will have to do it without claiming on insurance, otherwise i would just put some scratch repair thing on it and call it a day. I do feel it man, someone hit my rear bumper with their cart while i had it for only 48hrs

DakotaNoLastName33

I’m honestly leaning towards forget about it 😂😅 luckily it’s not on the driver side so I don’t notice it every time I approach my car. I may just go over it with paint if it really bothers me

Owww_My_Ovaries

So we just traded in my wife's grand Cherokee. The bumper was scratched badly at a car wash (where they said "you can't prove it was us!"). We ran it through insurance. When we went to trade it in the first dealership wouldn't offer us a fair market deal because it was "in an accident". I explained what it was and they said "the potential buyer will see it was just in an accident". So... just my 2 cents if you run this through insurance

I have had similar scratches on that part of the car and had really good success getting it almost completely removed with Meguiar’s rubbing compound. Almost like magic

This is news I can use!

rosinking35

Buff it out lol

MedranoChem

Sharpie

memuthedog

DIY and if you fuck it up it’s in a pretty inconspicuous place. Good place to learn.

Violet0_oRose

You could probably buff that out. And whatever might be left if paint is scuffed off a touch up paint pen might be able to hide the rest.

Ylemitemly

Or you can scratch the other side too and then he becomes a custom design.

Flaky_Clothes_7768

I've scrapped a couple of red curbs with my pearl white Camry and it comes out with buffing🫣

burningbun

i would just get a matching paint and paint over it the with a clear coat nobodys gonna notice it so down low.

Solo_SL

It’ll buff out

Oh man, I feel for ya. I would check a couple shops out and get an estimate, check their reviews and save up for it. Don't think I could stand having even a small defect in my 24 SE :-)

DakotaNoLastName33

Yeah, I’m thinking of calling up the same body shop I went to previously to get my fender repaired. I think they advertise scratch repairs too. Either way, I’ll ask them

WinthropMarkJ

Looks like you have a supersonic red like me. What year is yours, and trim?
