If you want to fit in, cheap coilovers which perform infinitely worse than the stock suspension which are slammed as low as they can go. Some rota wheels which kind of look like BBS's. A pop and bang map so you and the fiesta boys can show off at your local maccies. A shit wrap job in some obnoxious colour should do well, too.
Think you are thinking of the Golf R rather than the GTI. Most GTIs I've seen are relatively unmolested as they don't have as much tuning/ruining potential
Ones 2wd, the others 4wd, both have different turbos, both have different suspension, both have different bumpers. Then on the engine they have different heads, valves, camshaft, compression ratio injectors and radiator as per here https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/gti-vs-r-engine-differences.317206/
Then the less performance based but more of a cool factor is one has a golf ball gear stick, the other doesn't, and one has tartan seats the other does.
Basically yes they from the outside look similar, but in reality are pretty different.
The Clubsport and TCR both use the R engine and turbo, and they are so much better than the normal gtis.
High 300bhp from just a stage 1 on those is pretty fun
The only mod I have done Leon Cupra was replace the reversing halogen lightbulb with a £2 Amazon LED - all lights around the car are LED except that one!
Pimp my ride, call me up!
Mods done by boy racers, perhaps, but mods that up the spec to something that comes that way factory new? Upgraded OEM AV unit? Upgraded wheels that are also a factory option? Hard to say *all* mods are bad when you'd also buy those mods when the only difference is who fit them.
Doesn't even have to be factory. If you're actually buying quality parts, not Halford and ebay parts then you can easily get a comfier ride, better performance and a nice looking car.
As with everything, putting the money in makes a difference. So does having taste.
Lovely thing, honestly I’d leave it and put that money towards saving for the next higher level car, at the end of the day FWD has a limited ceiling for performance be it through torque steering or excessive wear on the front tyres
By that logic no one would modify anything, you buy a Golf R, you save for an M3, then an M5, then an R8, then a Lamborghini.
The GTI is as much car as British roads can handle, and more than most drivers can make the most of. These looks great stock but if it were mine I’d consider some nice alloys and darker window tints. The steering wheel is lovely stock but I’d love an alcantara one.
Performance wise I wouldn’t ouch the car too much as 245bhp and a manual is already a good combo, maybe some anti roll bars and possibly lowered slightly?
Also I love the colour!
Wheres the flaw in the logic? Want a faster car buy a faster car.
In my opinion anything past a remap is wasted money that could be put towards a better platform.
What I’m saying is that by saying don’t modify because you could buy a faster car, you would never modify anything because there is always a faster car to buy.
Not to mention it promotes a mindset where you can’t be happy with what you have.
I'm really struggling with your logic here. Why not just buy the car that's "fast enough" and then stop? Speed isn't the ultimate goal, the best car for you is the one that balances performance, fun factor, practicality, looks, running costs etc.
If you modify a car surely that's also a sign that you're not happy with what you have.
I understood what you were saying, I asked where the flaw in the logic was. It makes sense to me and I was always told if you want something fast then buy the fastest car you can before you start modding it. Better to start from a stronger foundation.
I personally have a 220i remapped to around 240hp 400nm which I am more than happy with. If I wanted something faster though I would trade it for an M240 before I did any mods.
I said anything past a remap is a waste, in case you didn’t understand the key word there is past.
A remap on a turbocharged engine is always worth it, but anything past that is a waste of money.
You have anything else to say? Or were you just trying to argue for the sake of it?
Great advice man but just clarifying this is my new daily, already have a car I enjoy thankyou tho :) this is just something to get me from a to be but i want it to be more fun
It that case it’s even less reason to modify it. My hot hatch is my daily while I modify my weekend car. I’ve kept the civic pretty standard so it can just be a reliable and fun daily. Other than some better brake pads and an upgraded head unit I’ve left it alone and it’s always seen me right.
I'd definitely get a Stage 1 remap of some kind. Revo Stage 1 is what I got for my Audi TT which has a 2.0 TFSI Petrol like the GTI of the same era to mine - same platform and it really just gave it a lift to what was already a fun little car. Also Stage 1 remaps don't require physical upgrades. Feels more responisve and a bit more 'whizz' about it, if that makes sense. No bangs or pops. Just lifts it to where it probably should be. Fuel efficiency improved a little too if you can believe that!
The other mod I'd look into is the audio (no crazy subs in the boot). Those flat subs that go under the passenger seat could also 'lift' the audio if there's the option to do that. I expect there may be some sort of passive sub in there maybe, but if you can add an active one then would be more 'fun'.
If you think it would make any difference you could also change the air filter for a performance KNX branded one. There's debate about if it makes any difference but something to think about for fun.
This type of logic is what leads people to make dumbass financial decisions.
"honey, I know we were saving for a downpayment on a house, but I've went out and bought an R8 because someone online told me not to modify my car until I'm driving in something like a Bugatti Chiron."
This isn't a personal attack on you, so please don't take it that way. It's been an increasingly prevalent mindset within the last few years, and I fear it's being peddled by people who just want to flex that they have a nice car, with absolutely no regard for the potential ruin it could put them in.
I'd mod it buy selling it and buying an R.
Don't know why you'd mod a GTI when you can just buy the halo model and gain 4wd at the same time. Plus better residual value.
Having owned a manual GTI performance and a DSG R. I’d have the R as a daily all day long. Both brilliant cars, but the R does everything the GTI does (except understeer), only better.
This gti and a friends mk7 R have the same suspension feels great and i had a type R civic with awd was honestly pretty boring on uk roads felt like the car was doing most the work not the driver
Since when did they make an AWD Civic Type R?
Also what do you mean the car is doing most of the work? Unless your turning off all the stability controls then its obviously going to interfere. That has nothing to do with drivetrain layout.
It was an AWD conversion along with a sequential gearbox conversion i think the base only come with fwd and it most definitely does have to do with drivetrain layout by far awd takes no skill to drive as i experienced it was boring, fwd is no better but cheap alternative
You do understand that AWD only helps you with traction under acceleration right? The same driving skills needed for braking and steering are required.
And with modern TC systems most RWD are easy to drive these days.
Again though it sounds more like you have an issue with stability control systems rather than drivetrain.
To say an AWD car takes no skill to drive is just ludicrous, watch a WRC event or any AWD car being driven fast and tell me that it doesn’t take skill.
You think anyone can just hop in a 911 Turbo S and drive the tits off it? Seriously give your head a wobble before just repeating the last thing your mate with a Golf R said.
Highly, HIGHLY doubt that your mate had an AWD converted Civic Type R with a sequential box.
That’s a massive re-engineering task that might be done by a well-financed rally team. The gearbox alone would be tens of thousands of pounds.
I'd probably get a nicer exhaust and some thick tailored mats, then leave the rest stock. Maybe a dump valve if they are plastic on your engine.
Plus a fresh set of wipers, and better tyres if applicable.
In highly boosted engines, the plastic shell can crack and leak boost. It's a common issue with my car at least, and you can get one with a metal body and piston instead that's far more durable. The piston can also open and close faster compared to a stock one with a diaphragm, so you get less turbo lag. You'll also get more turbo sounds, which could be a good thing for some people.
Just got to 80k miles with the 308, and it's going pretty well. It's needed a pre-cat 02 sensor recently, but that was a 5 minute DIY job. Thinking of getting the timing chain replaced just in case soon, since it's still on its original chain and I'm getting a little paranoid, but otherwise it's been faultless.
Just replaced blow-off valve on the similar engine, although in mini, with the original plastic one. I was also worried about the chain on 100k miles and replaced it few days ago together with oil pump chain, water pump and everything related to id. Much smoother idle.
Not that expensive. I run my stage 2 mapped and decatted MK5 GTI on Tesco 99RON. On a full tank it costs about £4.00 more than 95, gives much better economy, and makes a BIG difference to how hard it pulls when you put your foot down. It’s also worth mentioning that I used to be a ‘Shell or BP only’ kinda guy, but find my car runs much better on Tesco fuel.
Generally if you need to ask other people for ideas you shouldn't do anything, because you're adding stuff for the sake of it rather than what you actually like yourself
You should mod according to what you like but it's very easy to slap on stuff and make it look tacky
Maybe join an owner's page on Facebook and take inspiration from there
Racingline (VWR) shocks and springs. Unless you have DDC, in which case leave alone. Replace top mounts at the same time with Febi ones if they've done over 50k miles
Top hat inserts in the subframe mounts.
Replace lower arm bushes and ball joints with Febi or OE if the cars done over 80k (don't use motor-factor junk or as they don't last and avoid the fancy coloured plastic bushes).
Check for any tyres made in China and if you find any ditch them for some decent ones made in Europe (e.g Michelin Pilot Sport 5).
Get those diamond cut wheels powder coated in shadow chrome before they go manky (they inevitably will).
MIB headunit upgrade and get a wireless carplay/android auto dongle. Then get a wireless charging pad (if your phone supports wireless charging).
I don’t hate that colour but there are so many good wraps now that also will serve the purpose of protecting the paint work and helping it maintain value then I would say that might be a good option to consider. Personally wouldn’t bother adding anything other than apple car play or similar upgraded system and a better speakers if you like listening to music. Possibly a remap as well.
Treat the steering wheel to a nice clean and get rid of the shine, [this stuff](https://www.amazon.co.uk/COLOURLOCK-Smooth-leather-protector-cleaner/dp/B079FTT16X/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=1ZF8NU61F88JS&keywords=colourlock+leather+cleaner&qid=1679834503&sprefix=colourloc%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-5) leaves it with a nice matte natural finish
If you ever go for more power, do not let people talk you into a “cold air” intake. They are worse than the stock system with a few modifications. The only restrictive part of the stock intake system is the snow filter screen and the turbo inlet elbow. You can remove the snow filter and buy a turbo inlet elbow from AliExpress for £25 (it’s the same as the ones companies charge £150 for)
I wouldn’t change too much. I’d swap the rear GTI badge out for one of the red ones with silver outlines. Just cause I think it looks better than plain silver. I suppose you could get different wheels since I’m not a fan of them personally. Other than that I don’t think it needs to be messed with
I would leave this car as it is , I have one in grey, would prefer your colour, overall just leave it & put the money toward the next car
Any mods you do and spend money on , you are unlikely to get back when selling the car
Change the wheels for Prets, Oettinger spoiler.
Maybe wind deflectors and black badges (Can get the stickers from EZ Mods iirc)
If you're feeling fancy, chameleon tint?
Put some decent branded tyres on it like Michelins pilot sports or Bridgestone Potenza, as the only thing that connects your car to the road is your tyres.
And leave the rest of the car stock.
Just a few cosmetic mods. Plain with a few bits and bobs is the best for MK7-mk7.5. Don't go over the top and get shitty pops and bangs that will drown out everything inside the car.
Get a legal modded exhaust so your insurance won't kill you when you wrap it round a tree, then remap it. Make sure you can sell it on when your drug dealing really kicks off.
[I have the same car!](https://imgur.com/a/sreJD6w) The best thing I got was a wireless Android Auto ([AAWireless](https://www.aawireless.io/)) dongle that I leave plugged in so I'm not constantly fumbling with cables everytime I start driving.
The other thing I got was the map pack SD, which allowed the maps on the dash which I found quite cool.
(DM me if you're interested, I'm actually getting rid of mine and can sell both to you for cheaper)
Enjoy it as it is for a bit, and then when you get a bit bored just take it from there. Usually a remap and an air filter, followed my some handling mods is the way to go.
Seats and wheels. Those stock are awful and leather is much easier to clean.
Everyone saying shit about the car modding scene clearly never been to a proper car show. Like with club stands and stuff. Cuz the shit they describe is all young chumps who haven’t even moved out their parents yet.
If you want to “mod it” you can take it to volkswagen who can fit a diffuser and a roof lip spoiler to it. Imo that’s all I would do since it’s OEM parts done by VW, but it is expensive
Depends on how far you want to go, a remap, and aftermarket wheels of some description (BBS, OZ etc), and an aftermarket exhaust would do just fine.
If it was for me, I’d be tempted to get a set of decent coilovers (not cheap ones) and then get some upgraded whiteline rollbars and other suspension bits as well. I’d probably also upgrade the brake pads, discs etc and put braided brake lines as well tbh.
Imo just do stage 3 remap tint windows put rear duck spoiler and front splitter and nice exhaust and some nice silver or black bbs wheels or any of ur choice
“What mods should I get” - sounds like you want to just modify it for the sake of it? What do you want to achieve? Does it need to be Faster? Does it need to look more garish?
Forget about the car. Can I just comment on your carport...
That second roller door to what must be the street is genius. The reflections of the roof beams must be fantastic for polishing. Is there some clear acrylic over the top?
I see the low level lighting, but may I suggest some direct linear lighting from above so you can admire the car from inside the house?
depending on how much you have to spend, either air suspension or coilovers, and an air intake is something that you could do yourself with minimal effort. if you want it louder you could go for a new exhaust. If you want more performance then go for a remap. it's up to you. lovely car btw
Do nothing other than put fuel in it and drive it around some of the beautiful countryside we have in this country.
If you live in the South drive it to the Lake District and enjoy the driving.
If you live in the North drive it to Scotland and enjoy the drive.
If you live in Scotland drive it South to Wales but again, just enjoy driving it.
A season of trackdays and a euro trip to the Nurburgring and b500 (swiss mountain passes if you have time) then upgrade whatever parts you find lacking, tyres, pads, suspension, alignment, cooling - power last.
Stage 1, your favourite 18/19” wheels, maybe a few codes. Everything should be reversible as mods won’t add value to the car, but you should be able to get most of what you pay for them back if you remove them before selling.
Mud flaps are cool 🤷♂️. If you do the mm correctly, they can help protect the paint from rocks that fly up from your wheels, had that happen on my car. Mud flaps look decent too
Remap, new cooling system, turbo, induction system, fuel filter, suspension all round, new manifold and exhaust system, body kit and you should be good.......oh and new brakes. Should only cost a few thousand quid 👍🏻
If you're looking to have a little fun just get a cat-back exhaust just so she purrs a little. Can add a little character to the car. Cat-backs are usually mot friendly in my experience but you might get an advisory for the extra noise.
You can also get an aftermarket airfilter because intake noise can sound so damn good especially with a turbo. Takes 10 minutes tops to swap the intake filter. If you're worried about mot, just swap it back to stock.
Don't bother with lowering kits because for street driving it will make handling unbearable. Ecu remaps can be cool, but the premiums you pay are not worth the extra 10hp you'll probably get and the potentually reduced life time of the engine.
Also completely avoid pop and bang remaps. With stock components, you risk knocking a valve or significantly reducing the life of the valve springs due to the ignition timing being altered with over fuelling on deacceleration. You'll also likely fry sensors in the exhaust system. You also need to decat if you want pops and bangs and that will not pass an mot and it provides no performance benefit at all.
Looks like a pretty good spec car already. The most I would do is probably add a diffuser, splitter and sideskirts would make it look even more aggressive. Other than that just leave as it is than waste money or end up making it look tacky.
Started a discord server for modding cars a bit ago. It's a bit dead and a lot of us have only recently passed our tests but you're welcome to join and I'll help as best as i can
https://discord.gg/zdS9YAbpKW
You’ll struggle to improve handling for British roads without wrecking usability. Keep it on the stock wheels (18s are so much better than the option 19” wheel), don’t fiddle with the suspension, but make sure you’re running really good tyres (e.g. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 or Michelin Pilot Sport 5). If there’s still money burning a hole in your pocket after that, take it to somewhere that does REVO maps. Their maps open up your engines’s potential but maintain everyday drivability and won’t hurt resale. If you STILL feel you want to throw money at it once you’ve done all this, get it detailed and ceramic polished. Pricey but keeps your P&J looking good for longer and easy to clean.
Some awful chameleon tint as a finishing touch and a ‘norty’ sticker
Think you are thinking of the Golf R rather than the GTI. Most GTIs I've seen are relatively unmolested as they don't have as much tuning/ruining potential
They have the same engine... And platform
Ones 2wd, the others 4wd, both have different turbos, both have different suspension, both have different bumpers. Then on the engine they have different heads, valves, camshaft, compression ratio injectors and radiator as per here https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/gti-vs-r-engine-differences.317206/ Then the less performance based but more of a cool factor is one has a golf ball gear stick, the other doesn't, and one has tartan seats the other does. Basically yes they from the outside look similar, but in reality are pretty different.
The Clubsport and TCR both use the R engine and turbo, and they are so much better than the normal gtis. High 300bhp from just a stage 1 on those is pretty fun
But in terms of aftermarket support they are identical, aftermarket exhausts, engine tuning, turbos, suspension, aftermarket Wang's and shit
Bro why are you so jealous of this dude.
Absolutely beside myself with jealousy. Maybe one day I can own a golf
Stance, remap, neons, NOS, chameleon tint, bright blue headlights, 14 year old girlfriend, vapes, etc all required to join the modding scene.
Gross. I'm not gonna vape.
Wait a minute
Getting banged up for statutory vape
You forgot pops and bangs...
And a massive sticker covering half the windscreen. If it says something like 'Stance Life' or 'Praise the Lowered' in script writing even better.
Creased. Add to this a Sainsbury’s bag for life.
The "14 year old girlfriend" requirement was oddly specific.
😂😂
Forgot the fluffy dice & his & 14yr old her names - stickers on the windscreen
You had me in the first half I was getting caps ready!
Don’t forget the “ dare to be different” sunstrip
Do nothing. Mods are not needed.

Looks crap to you. Looks good to someone who likes it.
Yeah some people don't agree but I think mods are nice and good-looking if done correctly
How so, if they make the car better/fun to drive or better to look at (for the owner)?
Exactly. Leave it as it is.
None
Don't dick it up
I won’t, dad.
Remap, bigger brakes - done.
alleged teeny entertain deer person jeans market saw panicky longing *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Literally the point of modifying. It's not a clout contest on social media, it's about making your car more 'you'.
Because they’re obviously looking for some inspiration.
That's like asking people what colour to paint your lounge or what sofa to buy.
Better wheels and maybe a remap if that gives you decent gains. That's it.

Doesn't look like the Performance model to me so won't be 242bhp. 227bhp on the standard GTI for that year I think.

Just keep telling yourself how practical it is - that's what I do when I'm driving your Fiat.

Yeah, I modified my last daily, and whilst it was an absolute weapon it became too much day in day out and I regretted it.
Leave it standard. It’ll be worth more when you sell it. A modded car screams, “I’ve been thrashed to within an inch of my life every day”
Who cares about resale value when you modify your car? The vast majority of people know they don’t add anything to the value/reduce the value
OP asked. I answered. I care about resale value or I wouldn’t have said that

Seat covers
My thoughts exactly! Absolutely mingin! Cars a beast seat covers form and old Volvo estate. Would have expected VAG to keep the tone
I’d honestly just leave it be. Think of selling it on, most mods are fairly undesirable to the next buyer.
I'd mod it buy selling it and buying an R. Don't know why you'd mod a GTI when you can just buy the halo model and gain 4wd at the same time. Plus better residual value.
Gti manual is a better DAILY than a manual R, and i wouldnt get a manual R id want the full DSG so thats why :) i already have an auto

Agreed on the comfort, I've just got a mk7R and it's so smooth to drive, very comfy cars
GTI arguably more fun to drive for less money.
If it's your daily then I'd just get an Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay head unit installed.
Presumably this has it - my Mk7 (2016) has it.
Doesn't come as standard, it's an optional extra. Easy to bypass tho to be honest.
My 17 plate 7.5 GT has it so there’s no way the GTI doesn’t have it by default. Infact I think all mk 7.5 golfs have car play
Must've been an option as the two I've driven (company pool cars) didn't have it
Standard on GTI.
And GTD
Standard on all but the absolute poverty spec golfs from 2017
I'd probably get a nicer exhaust and some thick tailored mats, then leave the rest stock. Maybe a dump valve if they are plastic on your engine. Plus a fresh set of wipers, and better tyres if applicable.

Just replaced blow-off valve on the similar engine, although in mini, with the original plastic one. I was also worried about the chain on 100k miles and replaced it few days ago together with oil pump chain, water pump and everything related to id. Much smoother idle.
That's quite a lot of work done, must've been quite the bill. Though, that'll settle any worries about the timing chain, which would be worth it.
Remap, turbo elbow and inlet pipe and panel filter. And a dog bone mount insert if you experience wheel hop.
Get some extra security on it.
Legitimately I’d consider different alloys, 18” for a comfort ride, or if you want agressive, go 20”.
a full tank of V-Power petrol expensive but worth it
Not that expensive.
Generally if you need to ask other people for ideas you shouldn't do anything, because you're adding stuff for the sake of it rather than what you actually like yourself You should mod according to what you like but it's very easy to slap on stuff and make it look tacky Maybe join an owner's page on Facebook and take inspiration from there

None. :) I have an Mk7 and haven’t done a thing. Perfection…
Whitelines anti lift kit
Racingline (VWR) shocks and springs. Unless you have DDC, in which case leave alone. Replace top mounts at the same time with Febi ones if they've done over 50k miles Top hat inserts in the subframe mounts.
None
Bigger turbo/hybrid turbo, full Miltek exhaust, golf r brakes and then remap 👍
Tires are one of the most important mods that people forget. It is the most value for money mod imo.
Wingo rear wing, spinners, hood scoop, go faster stripes, wide body kit and mirror windows
H&r springs for a nice low. Maxton designs do nice bolt on body bits
Remap, BBS / Golf R 'Pretoria' wheels, Clubsport rear spoiler
Needs a McDonald's car park.
Defo wheel arch neons. Brightest you can afford
Driver Mod! Take some performance driving lessons. 👍
So the wrong sub to ask this 😂 if you want a modded vibe without the fuss why not get an R?
Make sure you fit the windows darker, so you can be doing balloons while driving
Treat the steering wheel to a nice clean and get rid of the shine, [this stuff](https://www.amazon.co.uk/COLOURLOCK-Smooth-leather-protector-cleaner/dp/B079FTT16X/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?crid=1ZF8NU61F88JS&keywords=colourlock+leather+cleaner&qid=1679834503&sprefix=colourloc%2Caps%2C107&sr=8-5) leaves it with a nice matte natural finish
Leather seats?
All of them
Part Ex it for an R
A certain quality mod called the ford focus RS
A golf badge (I'm assuming it's a polo)
Wheels look a-little small? Might be just me..
Change the colour
Definitely
PX it for something faster 🤣
Other than that I don’t think it needs to be messed with
Exhaust maybe, but not a crappy pop and bang turd thing. These are great standard otherwise
Tasteful exhaust note/sound upgrade. New floor mats. Done.
Looks great, leave it as it is and enjoy driving.
If your not going after an r then I'd go down the route of a map, good tyres, a good wash with loads of polish then get out driving it.
NONE
Muffler delete
I would leave this car as it is , I have one in grey, would prefer your colour, overall just leave it & put the money toward the next car Any mods you do and spend money on , you are unlikely to get back when selling the car
Please, please do not modify your muffler. People have enough of those shots and bangs in the middle of a night.

Love that, do u not have clutch slip issues? Ive heard thats a common problem when it comes to Gti’s
Driver 🤣
Change the wheels for Prets, Oettinger spoiler. Maybe wind deflectors and black badges (Can get the stickers from EZ Mods iirc) If you're feeling fancy, chameleon tint?
Is there a mod to make it an R
Nice car to be fair
Car like this? Leave it as is. Tinting the back windows is the only thing I’d consider doing. Anything else will just make the car worse
First thing, pipercross panel filter. Makes the car sound cooler without being over the top. Can hear the turbo a bit more and the diverter valve
Wheels
Just get an R
Flesh light & fully adjustable arm bracket modification 🍆💦…….👌
“What mods should I get” - sounds like you want to just modify it for the sake of it? What do you want to achieve? Does it need to be Faster? Does it need to look more garish?
I know a baseline of what i want but im new to VW wanted expert advice if there were any Golf enthusiasts
Toyota Badge. Won't break down as often.
Thankyou for the appreciation, there is a clear acrylic coating good eye! And i might just do that
Do nothing for 3 months. Drive and enjoy it and the areas you want to tweak will become apparent. Gti is a nice car to be in.
A secondary school age girl for the passenger seat and membership to the local McDonalds car park along with a terrible taste in shite EDM music.
Supercharger
depending on how much you have to spend, either air suspension or coilovers, and an air intake is something that you could do yourself with minimal effort. if you want it louder you could go for a new exhaust. If you want more performance then go for a remap. it's up to you. lovely car btw
None.
Looks clean as it is, don’t add mods to it.
Drive it for a bit and you’ll know!
If it were me, maybe some black wheels (with red highlight?) And blacked out badges. Other than that its a nice colour and looks pretty sharp.
What do you feel is wrong with the car? Base mods around that? Otherwise it's just mods for mods' sake!
That’s fucking gorgeous mate
New wheels would be my only suggestion, but that’s because I hate diamond-turned wheels. Rotiforms always look good on Golfs, so do 3DSMs.
A season of trackdays and a euro trip to the Nurburgring and b500 (swiss mountain passes if you have time) then upgrade whatever parts you find lacking, tyres, pads, suspension, alignment, cooling - power last.
Get some mk5 monza wheels, that's it.
An engine
If you want to match every other vag car. BBS Bags and crackle map
Stage 1, your favourite 18/19” wheels, maybe a few codes. Everything should be reversible as mods won’t add value to the car, but you should be able to get most of what you pay for them back if you remove them before selling.
Just change the hideous seats, that's all it needs.
Spacers on the back wheels.
Mud flaps are cool 🤷♂️. If you do the mm correctly, they can help protect the paint from rocks that fly up from your wheels, had that happen on my car. Mud flaps look decent too
A clown mask.
Remap, new cooling system, turbo, induction system, fuel filter, suspension all round, new manifold and exhaust system, body kit and you should be good.......oh and new brakes. Should only cost a few thousand quid 👍🏻
Fluffy dice
Whatever you do, please for the life of God no pops and bangs
Don’t mod it ever. Keep it clean.
Looks like a pretty good spec car already. The most I would do is probably add a diffuser, splitter and sideskirts would make it look even more aggressive. Other than that just leave as it is than waste money or end up making it look tacky.
Speaking as a man who has spent a small fortune modding motors. Leave it alone, it’s gorgeous
That steering wheel with a little screen on it.

You're going to go fuck up your car regardless of what we say. Just go do it.
Raised number plate 🥵
Started a discord server for modding cars a bit ago. It's a bit dead and a lot of us have only recently passed our tests but you're welcome to join and I'll help as best as i can https://discord.gg/zdS9YAbpKW
Looks amazing. Anything else [edit] *cosmetic* [/edit] would ruin it
Nothing wrong with modding. But for a golf GTI. There is nothing much to make it less boring. There just so dull.
that's a real nice colour on the GTi
Get a skoda badge on the front, an octavia badge on the back and a panel beater to shape it like a skoda octavia, or just get a skoda octavia.
