A Yeti?

MatniMinis

This should be right under the Jazz imo. Brilliant cars, especially when you take the rear seats out.

silentv0ices

Might be a struggle to find a good one for 6k they hold value.

[deleted]

No decent yeti is 6k

cansbunsandpins

Sorry.

Narcuga

Honda jazz with the magic seats.

sounduser_

Why are the seats magic?

Narcuga

Back seats fold upwards so you can place tall stuff in the back like bushesetc. if garden things are a big deal :p. If you Google it can see people getting bikes in there and stuff. But obviously means can't use the back seats and it's still quite a small car

[deleted]

It actually is shocking how much space the Jazz's have with the seats folded, they are cavernous for such a small car. Really are the perfect choice for people who need a large boot yet don't want a large car.

Lazy-Contribution789

I loved that feature in the Civic of that generation, was so useful for getting a calor gas bottle home.

ConfidentRhubarb5570

We managed to get quite a bit of furniture in ours when emptying my grandmother’s house, we got more in that than in my my dads forester! Brilliant cars!

SlightlyBored13

They're like cinema seats without the springs.

Exact-Put-6961

See YouTube. The Jazz is the best designed and built small car in existence , by some margin. Perfect for your mum. Ultra reliable. Take your time to find a good one.

Ambulance4Seiver

+1 for a Honda with Magic Seats™. I have a 2014 Civic, and my girlfriend is a gardening nutcase. Carrying tall plants is a doddle with the back seats up (they fold up like cinema seats as well as down like normal car seats). You can also mix'n'match, i.e. put one seat up and keep the tall plant on the floor, and fold the other seat down and take home bags of soil in the boot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67bwZ7dHxbc As others have said: either a Jazz, or a Civic if the Jazz is too small.

HCBC11

Yes! Finally I've found fellow Magic Seat appreciators. Best car feature I've ever had. Our Civic is a garden centre beast and rubbish dump legend.

Sharkaithegreat

Honda civic? Got a pretty big boot plus the back seats go flat if needed

That was a cackmobile

AKGOON1

For 6k, you could pick up a decent Mk7 Golf manual, albeit with mileage on the higher side of things. Or additionally, a Mk6 would be perfectly fine as well. For your mum, I’d suggest avoiding the TSI engines. Either go for the TDI or the 1.6 FSI.

jackgrafik

How about a non-ecoboost [Ford B-Max](https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202403077328201)? The 1.4 is fine for pottering around, and while the boot is large enough as normal, the back seats easily fold down into the floor to become a [massive load space](https://www.ridc.org.uk/sites/default/files/styles/lead_image_content_desktop/public/field/image/car/3495_2893_14_2893.jpg?itok=osh19WX_).

Exact-Put-6961

You are doing the OP no favours by suggesting a Ford in preference to a Jazz.

jackgrafik

Only because the Jazz was already suggested, plus I think the B Max is bigger inside, particularly in van mode. Granted, it doesn't have the magic seats but you can get a newer model for the money, and being a Fiesta platform they drive better too

Exact-Put-6961

The Jazz is suggested because by some margin at that price point, it is likely to satisfy the described need and customer better. It is in different class of design and engineering . All those wise old buyers are not wrong.

C class estate

aduffler

Got one of these, great car, boot space not as large as I'd hoped and smaller than our Mk7 golf estate we had previously. Great car overall.

[deleted]

So much car for 6k

Own-Advertising-287

It would be an older model. More than 10 years I reckon

[deleted]

Yeah 2010 or 2011

CatBroiler

There should be a decent amount of choice at that budget for a midsize, think: Octavia, Superb, 3/5 series, C/E class, C5, Mazda6, V70, etc. Probably go for an estate variant. If usage fits a diesel, most 2L class engines aside from the 2.2 in the Mazda are good, if petrol avoid VAG and BMW.

We have a V50 and it's very comfortable. The 1.6 diesel is also very fuel efficient. It's not very big but I think it's good enough. Especially with the back seats folded. They are also quite cheap now. I'd recommend the facelift as I think it looks better and it has more features.

Confident_As_Hell

Ours is 2009 with a 5 speed. I'd like a 6th gear but oh well. It also doesn't have Bluetooth but it's not big deal as I can just have the phone on the speaker mode in the center console. It does have a diesel heater which I think is great. Going into a warm car in the winter feels awesome. The engine also likes it too.

Confident_As_Hell

The normal sound system is also very good in my opinion. I'm not an audio head though

iViEye

If they didn't mind the engine platform or Peugeot layout, 308 SW probably.

Where's the Mazda love already? Mazda 3 all day ❤️

Your mom? Are you British?

sounduser_

Yes.

ForerunnerRelic

You mean 'mum' then. Unless you are a yam or a brummie.

sounduser_

Guilty. I say baff, too. The one I can't stand is people saying tek. Instead of take. You're tekkin the piss.

ForerunnerRelic

Fair enough mate. Ignore me, I'm a grumpy old dickhead.
