Have you been on a carnival cruise ship yet? I personally find carnivals floor plans to be pretty easy to navigate. I am an avid cruiser and only cruise carnival though so I’m definitely biased.
I think carnivals floor plans are fine minus some of the ships where you can’t access the MDR without going all the way to the back of the ship stairs or elevator. Like you can’t use mid ship or front stairs of elevators to get to the dining room - you can only get there from the back. Like horizon or freedom. I loved not having that issue on miracle. It’s not the worst thing in the world but slightly annoying if you forgot and went down mid ship then need to go up or down a couple floors circle to the back and then go back to the floor you need.
Aside from that though - very easy to navigate.
On Radiance, at least, I found this is because they have a separate MDR for anytime dining. The early/late scheduled guests get a MDR off the central lobby, but us anytimers have a more confusing route to the second dining room.
I’ve always thought the plans on most carnival ships were way more straightforward than Royal’s. Excel class might be an exception to that, I honestly feel they strayed too much from how every other class of their ships are
Hmm, ill have to watch the layout on excel classes. Although I may have come across one and from the video (if I remember correctly) it was very enthusiasticly colorful and all over the place. There was an interactive screen above a main walkway or something… idk ill have to rewatch and get back to you!
The Excel class looks like I’d have a hard time getting around it myself, it’s so much more sprawling than any of their other ships and they changed the location of a lot of things that had been in the same place all the way back to the Fantasy class.
I usually cruise once or twice a year, always with Carnival. I’ve not cruised on Excel or even Vista class yet, but have a cruised booked for Vista out of PC for September. I’m so used to everything being in the same traditional places, I’ve cruised tons on Fantasy and Sunshine class and a fair bit on Dream class. Not having things like the Pizza place and the Deli on the lido deck and guests services not being central in the atrium on excel class seems weird to me. Also the spa not being on the upper decks forward like they are on every other class.
I get annoyed with the mid ship/ shopping areas on carnival, the royal one level plan is so much easier to navigate lol also having to walk through the smoky casino to get to some of the shows was a major bummer ( pregnant and asthmatic!) Lol
Omg! Im so glad I’ve found someone who understands! Im serious, Carnivals layout is all chopped up and youre right, you have to do so much crossing thru sections to get somewhere
Some of them are a little quirky, but they are all easy enough to get around once you get your bearings. That’s not to say I love all the layouts, but I’ve never had a problem figuring out how to get where I’m going.
I find Carnival floor plans to be very consistent. I’ve only found Sunshine class ships to be confusing. The other classes I’ve been on all seem to fall into the same basic pattern.

MDR is the only place I find challenging to find.

I have but it was 12yrs ago on the Dream and even then as a teen I thought it was discombobulated. Always remembered RCCL as being easy to navigate
I don’t find the floor plans confusing 🤷🏼♀️
Lol maybe its just me, haha!
RCI ships have a wider beam than CCL allowing for more flow through the Royal Promonade.
Ahhhh, makes sense!

Oh wow, haha I guess Carnival wants to shake things up a bit. I take it you frequent the cruise line?

I’ve been on a handful of carnival ships, I find all of them to be very simple to navigate.
Nice!

Haha, true!
If you've been on one carnival ship then you've been on MOST
Well thats good to know!
