Dynaflex 230

Jewboy-Deluxe

Caulk it and do a nice job of cleaning up the caulk.

Condhor

Gonna need some Sashco Big Stretch

thedustiest19

Definitely this, dynaflex and Alex will all crack and look like shit in a few months or possibly a year. Don't forget to paint on top as I find big stretch will yellow slightly and hold dust on the top of the baseboard without paint.

Significant_Eye_5130

You’re at the “caulk the rest” stage.

Burkey5506

Caulk and paint make a carpenter what he ain’t.

Dry-Conference-7560

*Framer what he aint* trim guy has to deal with it until the magicians (finishers) come thru

nailbanger77

Honestly a lot of it comes down to how well the drywaller floated the corners

Ok-Interest-7220

A paintable, elastomeric caulk.

Leoxagon

That's Alex's formal name

nmwoodgoods

CAULK! But make sure it’s big white caulk.

padizzledonk

I was on a job years ago with a client from the Midwest and I was like "dont worry I'll use some black caulk to fill that hole" and one of my guys laughed and said "Yeah, we have a big tube of black caulk, it's definitely enough to fill that hole" and me and him looked at each other, looked at the lady and she looked at us and was like "are you sure black caulk will work? I feel like it might not match" and it went right over her head....thankfully lol

nmwoodgoods

Jokes that miss are sometimes the best and worst thing LOL

1citizenone

Caulk it. Build up the wall?

DingleBerryFarmer3

Do your best, caulk the rest

Ok-Dark3198

caulk and walk🤣

Square-Tangerine-784

Some 6s or 8s galvanized finish nails into frame will get it a lot closer. Is this even nailed to the door jamb? Did you do the love taps on high drywall before installing trim? GRK finish screws if you’re shy about hand nailing.

EntertainerOk7231

My issue is that the door jamb sits higher than the wall making it not flush

AustonsCashews

Got any glue in them mitres?

EntertainerOk7231

I was afraid of gluing the miters flush because there's a lot of warping. That's what's causing small gaps in my miters. If I glue them will they still be "flexible" enough to adjust while nailing down the length of the jamb?

Dropped-pie

Try your best, caulk the rest

drftdsgnbld

Miters look pretty good. If everything is firmly fastened, caulking the gap at the wall is fine. It’s what caulk is for, not in the profile of the trim.

Great_Eye701

Wipe some white filler into the mitre and pin holes, caulk the rest but make sure you use masking tape on the wall first to get a straight line and to keep it off the textured wall where you don't need it. Paint the caulk the same colour as the wall and it will be less noticeable.

Herestoreth

Don't even listen to all these "caulkenters"... Caulking flat seams and miters is ok, but if you're shooting for great then follow these tips. Use a non shrinking product (wood filler, certain spackles, Bondo) and leave it slightly proud, sand, paint. If it's MDF, I'll use bondo...no shrinkage, won't swell the MDF, and sandable in 15 min. Cheers.

Blondechineeze

I used Bondo in some places where trim boards were early. It came out great! It was my first time cutting the trim etc and I didn't have any caulk but I had leftover Bondo from restoring my 72 Beetle. You would never know it is anything other than wood filler or caulk except it's more expensive lol

nicenormalname

Yeah, no

Blkgod_64

Caulk is your best friend now🤔

[deleted]

Please tell me you used more than pin nails?

cb148

23 gauge isn’t strong enough? /s

EatCucumbersWhole
