Huntarantino

do NOT trust this mustard i gave him my spare key for emergencies and he stole my collection of rare vintage playboys

cherrystain_witch

ty for making me laugh lmao

Distilled vinegar is gluten free. You’re good! This product is fine to eat. I have never seen mustard with gluten. It’s not something I would need a gluten free label on personally as long as I read the ingredients.

plantgirll

I absolutely have seen a *lot* of mustard with gluten. Traditional mustards often contain wheat paste (see Colman's), beer as an ingredient, and shared lines with those mustards is common as is cc with mustard seed in warehouses. PSA to always eat certified mustards- Beaver is great IME but they do have some nongf and non certified- keep an eye on the label. Adding on that common yellow mustards like this are often safe but for potential cross contact, might not be

Lemlemons94

Just speaking from my own experience. I’m sure it depends on where you’re from. Like I said, I always read the ingredients. I don’t think it requires a gf label for something like mustard (especially plain yellow like OP asked about), but if that makes you more comfortable then certainly go for that.

plantgirll

totally fair- we all have our own regional availability and our own comfort levels with potential cc!

Lemlemons94

Definitely!

JessFed

I find that almost all brands of Chinese Mustard have gluten.

plantgirll

Just checked, the Beaver brand is certified!! I haven't tried it, I stick to their deli mustard personally

JessFed

Good to know! Not sure if I ever see that brand locally but I’ll keep an eye out! I’ve resorted to using wasabi instead because they have a similar taste. Spicy!

kittycatblues

There are lots of mustard with gluten. Label reading is a must!

banana_diet

I've seen mustard with wheat flour. Mustard is definitely something to be careful with. Example: https://www.amazon.com/Beaver-Mustard-13-Ounce-Squeezable-Bottles/dp/B000EY5TA8

Thank you!!

This one is probably safe. If you're ever looking for mustard that you can be more sure about, here are a few that are labeled GF (and delicious :)): Maille Dijon Original Mustard Annie's (organic yellow, Dijon, and horseradish) Suzie's (several types, including yellow and Dijon) Sir Kensington (yellow, Dijon, and spicy brown)

ElliEeyore

If you’re afraid of it, throw it away.

cherrystain_witch

update: no reaction from the mustard. I was initially scared because I had hunt’s ketchup a few weeks ago and i had a terrible reaction from it. No GF label on it or nothing and the “distilled vinegar” was not specified on the label or website. I got lucky with this !! 😅

Jinx484

Id say it comes down to the manufacturer, if you can Google it or contact them if you have the time to wait.
