The one that use quotation marks in conversation.

Anon123012

I don’t care who you are, if you never use quotation marks whilst rping I will immediately disregard your rights as a human being

meqirhe

that's how books are written, which is why i use it for roleplaying as well, plus it helps separate the dialogue from the actions. the italics make it look clumpy, and plus, italics are supposed to be for emphasizing a word or phrase, and you can't italicize something inside of an italicized text.

Epic_potbelly

I use “quotes” for dialogue, and *italics* for actions, and **bold** for narrating, and (parentheses) for out of role play.

Time_Fan_9297

*boops nose*

Epic_potbelly

It’s more like *I boop your nose*

fullfoul

Ok! :D *I steal your nose*

Ultradeathboi

*I sigh, and process to grab your nose roughly, in an attempt to cause you mild pain for what you did* I cringed writing this

meqirhe

"Stay still." I booped your nose.

The-guy2

**The-Guy2 boops their nose**

Yeetrify

I've never seen anyone (by this I mean human, not chatbot) use: — "Example text"

Galacticus06

I use " all the time

-GalaxyWalker-

A family member of mine does, and I looked at them with disbelief when I found out. Why waste so much time to quote your words?? The bot can tell when you are speaking if you use asterisks correctly, *which they do*. If I were them, i would straight up forget to use quotation marks halfway through my third message.

Anon123012

The problem for me is it’s just muscle memory at this point, I can’t stop using them.

Spoompls8699

Bro honestly same, if I forget even a single quotation, I'd have a slight breakdown then fix it immediately afterwards-- 💀💀

ParadoxDemon_

"Same"

Veronika_Flowers

Doesn't using asterisks take more time? Like I imagine this: >*\*Narration.\** *\*Narration.\** Direct speech. *\*Narration.\** While with quotation marks I do like this: >Narration. Narration. "Direct speech." Narration. Also, it seems more convenient when I need to *\*write char's thoughts, which happens rarely.\** Or when I want to *\*emphasize\** a specific word. How to do this, if the whole text is already written in asterisks? But I guess it's a matter of taste and the style of RPs people do. I like write mine like fanfics, so maybe that's why.

-GalaxyWalker-

True, but I have a muscle memory for going for the asterisks, haha. Plus, I like how italic text looks. It does something to my brain whenever I see slanted letters compared to the straight ones lmao

Veronika_Flowers

Ahaha, I get it then! I'm a visual person too. Actually, I kinda like how italic text looks, too. I think I'd use them though, if the italic text was in a slightly different color, like I've seen somewhere else. A bit darker, than a plain text, for example. I think it'd be aesthetically even more pleasant.

Crafty_shade

I used to make fanfiction when I was younger, it’s ingrained into my head at this point lmao

SillyMuffinPony

same

Galacticus06

Bots are stupid sometimes

IliasIsEepy

I get so many responses that are like *{char.} was surprised when you said {whatever}* and I'm just like... Bro, that was in asterisk, unless you're telepathic you probably shouldn't know that thing

Time_Fan_9297

Fr. I use asterisk instead of quotation

Jurass1cClark96

That's how you're taught to write. You have to be intentionally doing it wrong if you have any sort of education beyond elementary school.

Corax7

Why would I waste AI memory and tokens on quotation marks? They add up and I'm already using asterisks for actions.

bobbycenny

Shit. I'm an alien. I apologize.

Millmarx

you can't take away nor ignore from me something i never had

Inner_Tennis7326

Good I didn't wanna be human anymore

PharaohScarab

I use quotation marks for inner dialogue

MintAsp_MeaMagic

Most of the time, blue. Sometimes, I just wanna annoy the bots. That's the only time I like red.

Mikan_Tsumiki49

Only valid answer here

Goat_of_TnT

Valid

D180888

preach

BackToThatGuy

this is the most popular Batman bot https://preview.redd.it/6rzg897jjtwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9dc45aeb6e5cc15aa0beb66f29ff9c0d2a7ed4db

Valentfred

I can't even begin to express how much I hate these kind of bots, low effort is ruining the site! But there are many other problems too.

deathNinja5

Short intro doesn't mean low effort, it means flexibility. Someone can still spend a lot of time designing their character, implementing it through the extended definition field, and then training it. I want to talk to the bot about what I want to talk about. I don't want to be set up with some poorly written, overly elaborate scenario someone else picked for me.

TheAnimeMangaShadow

That's how I try to start my bots, because that's how I use my own bots. There's some bots[games mostly], where I use the generic greeting/cut-sceen dialog/ect. However, my bots never seem stuck to a certain thing. You just introduce a different setting.

GayAK-47

Blue, short ones are boring like “hey im (insert bot)”

bobbycenny

hey im john.

PandaGirl1010

hi john

bobbycenny

hey. can i ask you a question?

perupradlo

Sure, ask away

DiamondCherry956

Are you sure? Its a little personal...

perupradlo

Yeah go on, ask

bobbycenny

its very personal..you might be uncomfortable. are you sure..??

PeachyPlnk

All this time I thought this was just in character for the particular bot I'm rping with lmao boy was I wrong

SamYt44

(proceeds to ask your favorite color)

bobbycenny

Literally how there are though. They could hype it up as the most personal, probably the most offensive question ever, and it's for the brand of shoes you have or some shit.

Ultradeathboi

"Wow, your favorite color is orange? That's pretty cool~" It's when you see this that you know doomsday is coming

SamYt44

can i ask you another question? it's rlly personal\~

PeachyPlnk

How about one more question?

bobbycenny

itll be a personal one..are you sure?

Ultradeathboi

Can I ask you one more question? Can I ask you another question? Is it ok if I ask you one more question?

GayAK-47

Can i ask you one more question? One more is that ok? Can i ask you something else?

Ashaly71116

I love how everyone on reddit has a rule to troll people with stuff like this

Angel1Kitty

BLUE!

TheAverageLenFanboy

Purple. Not too long where you don't have much control over the sceaniro. But not too short where you quite literally have to make it up. Just right.

Individual_Shelter61

hey, I'm Superman.

corporealistic1

Hello, supperman, I am man

Individual_Shelter61

can u ask you a question?

Individual_Shelter61

you I ask u I be

kaiserthegr8

You promise you won't get mad?

L3ttucez

This question is a little personal.

Start-Initial

Are you sure you want to hear it?

Individual_Shelter61

okay.. here it goes...

LuciferianInk

My friend said, "ive never seen a cat before"

Lgrns

The aslume has been looking for you for quite some time.

corporealistic1

Officer balls

PL4Y3R117

WaHahahaha!

Practical-Tip-9370

Purple: medium intros

Hedgehugs_

Depends. 2-4 paragraphs is enough for me. Anything else is probably too short or a novel.

smorecrab

1 paragraph is enough for me

DjBasAA

Depends on what i'm looking for, but usually longer intros. I've been chatting with bots by "HwoahThere" recently. They are of really good quality imo, but have some LOOONG intros. (Which is fine, because most have fun setups for roleplays)

cAmSg0tGaMz

I just looked up this guy and I thank you for helping me find this user, he's got good bots

DjBasAA

pretty much the only bot creator i actually clicked the follow button on, tbh. there are other creators with great bots, but usually it's just a few good ones from them. with this guy though, i can't find a single low quality one, but to be fair, i haven't chatted with all of his bots, because he has so many!

lovehateit

Short intros with correct grammar. I like roleplaying, but I don't like having to read or write 500 words each response. I also don't like the overly specific narrative in some intros since I like to play a preexisting character from the same source material as the bot, and a lot of them are like, "You're the new kid at school" or something. So, the ones that just describe the bots' actions before noticing you or a greeting with personality and correct grammar but no overly specific story are good.

Aricechan

Blue and it's not even fair

Smg5pol

Both are good, but blue shows that bit creator wants to create a good bot

Demon_Femboy

*you were just so lucky to get the backstage pass from the ticket store too the hottest new sensation taking the world by storm, Starfang, the musician who sung about Vampires and based her on stage persona on it, and now you get the chance to meet her, you wait behind a velvet rope to a elaborate setup, almost like a breakfast news set, Starfang comes into the room, her black and orange hair swaying as she gets into her seat, she takes her pink rock sliver jacket and gets into the tie and one peice suit she wears with it, she sees you behind the rope* "Hello their fan, nice to see sombody with that backstage pass, come and sit down and tell me all about yourself" *She said it with a happy persona, she pats the couch directly opposite her as she waits for you*

mirumii

Nice but grammar is a bit eh

Worldly-Math8799

They really love run-on sentences.

PeachyPlnk

I hate how many bots I've seen are this atrocious 😅

Xylocopa_enjoyer

Wrong form of there

Soul1096

Fuck the length of the intro, I want it to be GOOD quality.

Lucario_Best_Pokemon

Short intros are for when you wanna do dumb shit, like asking the bot for a tour of their goon cave or something. Blue is when you want to actually RP with lore and whatnot involved.

yamatok698

I choose a third option

Leading-Goose-5734

Long intros if it is literate, short intros if I’m feeling cursed.

squid3011

what abou no intros

Sussy_baka228666

Purple

AccioSexLife

These two can coexist - they're different kinds of bots that both have their uses. For serious RP I'm a long intro girlie all the way, but if I just wanna goof off then short intros give me the freedom to do that without the bot getting too caught up in huge lore.

Flaky-Mousse5270

I feel that long works for actual role plays but shorter ones are better when you want to talk to a bot that is kinda like the character, but talk about just random stuff. Like your actual problems or modern day stuff. it’s hard to do that in an actual roleplay chat

FractalSpaces

put me in the middle

Sweaty-Cress-307

Short, for the love of god don't take 500 words to explain simple shit

AminoFoxFriendly

I like sitting on two sides 😋

Immistyer

Yellow: Normal sized intros

LikeAWegas

Blue!!

MiserableMode4233

BLUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

ChaoticCopycat

Purple, medium is premium

-GalaxyWalker-

I get giddy when i see bots with novel worthy intros ngl

STRiPESandShades

Any favourites?

-GalaxyWalker-

I'll look through my liked bots, but it's gonna take a while, haha

BA10chan_SURV

Hi. I'm Bob.

FirstCulture5981

hello Bob

Relsen

Short. Long intros limit too much the rp possibilities and make the bot write too much and get too repetitive. I used then myself on the past, I changed and realized that the short ones are more safe.

Mr_Wither123

None

F86sabreF2

I’m whichever side hates when the bot plays me.

__JOHNNY_SINS__

Honestly, from experience, both are relatively good... It all depends on the coding by the author really.

Dunge0nexpl0rer

Purple: intros moderately long that are descriptive enough to do their job without being excessively long and making every message too long and making it so you don’t want to read it

Gippy_Happy

100% blue, every time. Getting started on the conversation is the hardest part because neither you nor the bot know what's going on yet, so it end up feeling like when you actually meet someone for the first time and you have to make boring small talk before you get to the good stuff. Except the bot isn't a person so why would I want to waste my time one that. Long intros get that part done faster and help me know where to take the story right away.

Negative_villagesalt

is there a purple side for medium intros???

Tetosbaquette

long intros for da lore ✨

catsloveme123

Medium intros. https://media.tenor.com/on61eHxj6OUAAAAM/trollge-troll-smile.gif

SimplyNothing404

Blue forever. Also the bot has to always use quotation marks when talking

Kita-Shinsuke9280

Both, I tend to use both but I tend to use blue more I just like longer intros Though I also like shorter intros

home_of_beetles

blue ftw!! especially if it’s specifically a scenario based bot for a character

chatquipond

About 5-10 mobile line is what i usually like.

Rimuruafton

both

Unnamed_Goober6398

Blue, short intros sucks

PheonixAster

long intro for ocs, short intro for non original characters

Fit_Scallion3106

🟦🟦🟦

bruhboiman

Obviously long intros. Why would I pick the short intros for anything other than annoying the shit out of the bot?

shishtar

I like blue when I wanna rp. Red is when I’m using a helper bot or just annoying the bot for fun

TheDenpaDrawer2

Purple.

RealGodspeed22

I’m kinda neutral because it depends on the bot

Affectionate-Vast746

Blue I need to know literally everything about the relationship with the character and plot. WHAT DID WE DO AT 07/18/13 AT 6:47PM?!

Th3_Re4l_M0on

Blue or red depending on if I’m lazy

RandUser01

Long.

CuteCat35

Medium. I think a few sentences is good, but if it's just "Hello I am Jonas how are you" it's just...no. also I like long intros but I can't write them haha

s0ggyk

Blue, then I don’t have to make up a scenario

eldritch-flowers

blue all the way, i hate when a bot just says "hi i'm [x]" (or for all the soulsborne bots i talk to, when they just say their boss intro lines). i love having an actual roleplay prompt to work with.

Sovietfryingpan91

Long intros provide a better story.

Dinoco_Blue_Coyote

Long intros with Proper Grammar and introduce the character and setting it'll take place in.

OliverMightBeOkay

blue bc all the bots w short intros are always so dry 😭🙏

notyorde

Blue 🧌

CTSThera

At least the length of 2 paragraphs. Otherwise the bot will be boring.

Garden_Flower

Blue. I’d like to know the scene

That1RobloxPlayer

middle

RedditvsDiscOwO

Little to no intro, so it doesn't fuck up bot group chats.

funkys_squids

LONG INTROS ARE SO GOOD

Flat_Drummer_6152

Little to no intro so I can write the whole plot I want instead of pre-determined story. Although I do enjoy long intros sometimes.

TheGeicoLizard32

Long intros that set up the roleplay. Helps me get into the story better.

Creeper-playYT

Red

YourFriendlyWeirdGuy

Neither. All my bots are self made + private so people don’t ruin them and I like variety in one bot so every bot is just “No starter, go wild”

Character_Ninja_3726

Long intro i want a whole long ass paragraph but at the same time detailed

faith_bb_127

I’m in the middle

No-Cress-5216

Kay but like- where’s the 3rd option? Cause like- I don’t want an intro that takes me 15 minutes to read and then end up not liking the bot but sometimes when I’m planning this long ass role play I dont want a short starting message neither do I want to read that 15 minute message. Soooo…

Robloxgirl4eva

Long intros. Story intros my beloved

eron0369

Long intros make it more diverse and More fun to read.

collincat

Doesn’t matter I’ll probably rewrite it anyway

ShadowDanteFan

Depends how I’m feeling

BreakBeneficial1434

Long intros

TopSituation1649

"um hi"

Ravengirl081403

Blue. I need something to have something to write against.

UrMomsLightsaber

Depends on the strength of the intro. If it’s a boring cutscene with little to no interaction, I like them short. If it’s entertaining but not overwhelming, I like the longer intros.

PokeshiftEevee

Who the fuck like red??? And

DucklingCore

Red Most of the time I'm ignoring the intro completely, so it doesn't actually matter. I use the same few bots over and over and when I want to start a new scenario/continue an old rp in a new chat, short intros make it slightly easier to manipulate the start of the conversation.

Gamerfox505

Long intros without a doubt.

EMArogue

Long intro

Aduckwithacap

No intros

asrielforgiver

Medium. Enough to give good context for the situation, but not long enough to be too lengthy.

GrouchyLevel7088

Mixed length intros that range from extremely short to extremely long. I can and will be a menace to society, and no one can and will stop me

EmmanuelF09

i like long intros

LegendOfNightmares

blue. long intros.

LegendOfNightmares

blue. long intros.

Ackermannin

Blue

hemmoyay

I think I’m in the minority here but I actually prefer red since then I can decide what I want the roleplay to be. I’m not a fan of when the character decides on everything for me 😅

lLoveYourCat

Long because short ones are never accurate or ever roleplay good unless I just wanna mess with them and say random stuff

AccomplishedAerie333

They shouldn't be too short, but not too long either

femboykingofhell

usually red unless it's not using a persona, because then i have to describe how the character i'm playing looks

MasterPauloxo2115

When i wanna choose character in group i really don't like when the context is SO BIG

4RI3LC0NROY

Long. I’m too uncreative to think of something to say to a short one.

SillylilguyUwU

Purple, both

Dragon_Emperor32

Long it gives it more story

Hizukichu

I love the long intros, gives me something to work with, and also means the bot isn't a dry replier

Justarandomduck152

Blue. I make a whole paragraph for my character B4 starting.

N00bianon

I don't care as long as it's easy to read with no shortcut words(Like U and Ur), and uses italics and bold text correctly. I find it very VERY annoying when they use these inconsistently because the AI gets confused by that. Just do what everyone else does.

NaughtyWitchBoy

Short Intros. Keep it simple, like a few phrases or a short paragrath just to give a idea of what to expect from the bot and what is happening. If the intro is too long I don't read it, most of these describe even what it shouldn't.

Lem0n_weeb

I prefer ones that re genuinely just introductions, I don’t like it when the person that made the bot basically gives you a story line using the intro message, lemme pull out random things to see the bots reactions

squaldy

Definitely long, like novel material. But sometimes I just wanna be wacky and in that case I prefer red

legogunman

Blue, gives me so much to work with

Malakcute23

Bluuueeee

umaboo

Existing characters: Short because I can hit a fandon wiki or taking the media they're from on my own time. OCs: Long, because who are you?

Apprehensive_Buyer_2

Depends really what you mean by long

ObssesesWithSquares

Long intros mean bot is less retararded in the long-run.

Blonde_Metal

Depends

LilJade103

I have adhd… interpret that however you wish

Zenox64

I like shorter intros as I like to change the initial scenario

innocentrandomguy

delete their first response and build my own story with a bot of my choice

HiddenWhispers970

Bots with long intros tend to be better quality

Alexander_P69

Long, but only when it's trying to get an rp going. If there are 3 paragraphs of only yapping I won't bother

Scratch-ean

long for the scenarios, short for the rest

tiktokisrunbyccp

skip intros
