that violation appears for me to. Weirdly the Web Browser GPT by OpenAI will accept it https://preview.redd.it/947t0fp3nl7d1.png?width=1247&format=png&auto=webp&s=23812d69fb94a615a1f90a3678019ad13e0d3b54

Ohhh I figured it out. It's because it's copyrighted lol

Well done. I should have asked ChatGPT. Your guess is confirmed: Requesting the full lyrics of a song like "The Flower of Scotland" might violate terms of use or usage policies because the lyrics are protected by copyright law. Sharing the entire lyrics without permission or proper licensing can be considered an infringement on the copyright holder's rights. Instead, providing a summary, discussing the song, or quoting a small portion of the lyrics for commentary or educational purposes usually falls under fair use or similar exemptions in many jurisdictions.

Somebody already pointed out the copyright issue. According to Wikipedia: “It was written sometime in the mid-1960s by folk musician Roy Williamson”.  Asking ChatGPT to provide the lyrics to any song from the 1960s will yield the same result: an interruption by a terms of use message after one or two lines of lyrics: https://imgur.com/a/jXUMuXV It’s not the core LLM that’s interrupting the reply, but rather a filtering system that checks the output for violations. You won’t get this issue with older songs like “O Canada” or the “Star-Spangled Banner”, as they are in the public domain. Though I’ve had such an interruption after 25 lines of “Auld Lang Syne”, a song from 1788. Go figure. This is all with ChatGPT. Claude seems to be much stricter about copyright. It won’t even give me one line from the “Star-Spangled Banner”, so the request is either blocked by an inpuy filtering system, or the model is fine-tuned to block lyrics request (regardless of copyright status): https://imgur.com/a/HNCi9DR
