Little manila in east ridge is a great little shop, smaller than asian food and gifts tho but i like going to both

ITsPersonalIRL

Very cool! I saw that when I was searching on Google and it looked like the kind of place I'm used to lol! Thank you so much for responding!

interlockingMSU

AFG for a few things here and there but to stock up I always make the trek to Buford highway.

ITsPersonalIRL

I mean there's not a lot that will beat the Doraville H Mart (and then getting to stop by Sweet Hut) but I mean it's good to find some stuff! Thank you very much!

interlockingMSU

I like the VN farmers market better and also stock up at Saigon tofu right next door

ITsPersonalIRL

Thanks for the tip! Next time I'm running down to ATL I'll check them out!

Asian Food & Gifts is the best in the area. The absolute worst Asian Market is a place called "Asian Market" on Google Maps. Its right behind Rain Thai Bistro and has a sign that says "S  KDEE". No idea what that means.  It's DIRTY, overpriced and run by the owners teenage kids, kids friends and their nieces and nephews. There's always at least 4 kids "working" there and they will either completely ignore you or point without making eye contact. Selection is very limited and strange. Many products are near their expiration date. The parking sucks and they charge a $3 fee for credit card purchases under $20. It looks like its about to go out of business but has looked that way for 6 years.

The best thing about AFG is the ownership. They will try to source anything they don't have for you and call you when it gets in. And it is rare when they don't have something. And their fresh noodles are the bomb for home stir fry!

honeyintherock

Yeah, I made the mistake of thinking the people at the one on Lee Hey would be as friendly and helpful as AFG. The kid running the register apparently didn’t understand me, and the adults made it abundantly clear that I was in the wrong for interrupting their conversation with a question. That was the first and last time I went there.

Sparkle_Titsworth

I'd like to add that it absolutely REEKS of cigarette smoke, too. I'm sensitive to that crap and the last time I went my hair and clothes stank until I washed everything. That's just icky. (And fwiw - it's Sokdee. I know it's Lao, but I don't know the translation.)

MuirTrail51

Janta Market on Lee Hwy for your south Asian needs. Great prices on bulk spices, and they have fresh samosas at the register. 🔥

ITsPersonalIRL

That's super exciting!

interlockingMSU

Fresh sugar cane juice too

I don’t like Jabra as much as a little market called India Bazar on Lee near Shallowford

Little manila! All the ates are so nice and they have a filipino American association where they have events throughout the year. Think the next one is the Christmas party. On the weekends, they sell home cooked filipino food. Asian food and gift also has alot of filipino food together with other asian food. The owner, Paul and family, are half filipino. If you have any specific needs, he’s the man to talk to and they do weekly runs for stocking up the store. Always have a hard time trying to stock up on yakult and filipino spaghetti sauce lol Depending where you live, one may be easier than the other. My kids prefer little manila and us afg

ITsPersonalIRL

So I was already excited to check out Little Manila, but now I'm beyond stoked! I'd be really curious to try their food! We lost my grandmother a few years ago, but we used to cook together. I make a few traditional things, but it was basically her favorites. Thank you so much!

Chance-Pie-6004

I like Asian market on Lee Highway. The kimchi the owner makes is so good I don’t even like telling people because I don’t want it to sell out 😅

ITsPersonalIRL

Hey that's great info! I make a lot of fermentations so I'd be curious to try their kimchi and see if I wanna start making changes to mine! Thanks!

Kadabra007

Random question-but do they sell any candy or sweets?

sushdawg

Asian food and gifts definitely sells candy and sweets!! Lots of fun ones.

Kadabra007

Thank you so much! Have a younger nephew who loves to try them anytime he gets the chance, so we’ll definitely make that trip this week.

sushdawg

Absolutely worth going for fun snacks! 🙂

wilkc

If he hasn't tried it, the soda pops with the ball you push in to activate the carbonation is always a fun sugar rush drink! I can't remember the name but they have them at AFG.

Kadabra007

Ah, thank you!

6WaysFromNextWed

Janta does!
