As someone who loves to volunteer look for the bigger non denominational churches and Methodist churches, most of them have volunteering programs. Big brother big sister, the humane society and the salvation army are often looking for volunteers too.
Maybe visit a church during the week and see what ministries they're involved in. Are you attending a church currently?

Seek out a church, a lot of larger 300+ member churches in my area have programs that can get your foot in the door to ministry. It’s a real blessing.
