At least in basketball you have a conference tournament, so if you get kinda screwed over and slotted a spot or two down from where you think you should be, you still have the opportunity to win the tournament. In football there are a lot of very very unclear tiebreakers in the rules of these big division less conferences and someone is going to get incredibly fucked over pretty soon. Hell, last year in the big 12 it was unclear going into the last couple weeks of the season which teams would go to the conference title game depending on how the final games played out.
Look forward to welcoming both Arizona schools to Lubbock and the away days at Tucson and Tempe. Happy to avoid a trip to Hilton but got stuck with a game at Allen Fieldhouse
it is super fun.....the Power & Light District is the perfect place to hang before, during, and after the games....and if you're a BBQ fan, well you're in heaven
Didn’t the big 12 announce it’s staying in KC thru 2030 or something?
Edit: 2031* https://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/big-12-extends-basketball-tournament-stay-in-kansas-city-brings-soccer-tournament-to-kc/#:~:text=The%20Big%2012%20men's%20and,the%202024%20and%202025%20seasons.
Was hoping for another home-and-home with Iowa State after how fun the games were last year, but I'm definitely happy getting 2 games against Kansas and 2 out of the 3 other Texas schools
The mountain schools have always been a rough trip for us. Between weather, elevation, and crowd, Utah and Colorado are no fun. Guess we’ll see if we have a new destination to dread.
Morgantown really isn't elevated. Only 1000 or so feet above see level.
The hard part is the trip. For you guys it will be multiple time zones and a couple thousand miles. There is something about it that seems to drain teams (especially us...we always play poorly there) before they even step on the court.
Playing their early and coming away with a win is usually a good sign for the rest of the season. More than the environment, or even the opponent (though they are often tough), the trip is not easy.
Tbf y'all have more history with us than the Big 8 schools, at least from a games played standpoint. Y'all are 24-28 against us all time (hoping we can maintain that winning record)
I already have it penciled in as a loss.
It might not be the greatest place to watch a game in terms of feel (Phog Allen). It might not overwhelm with size and fan support (KU/ISU). But it probably is the toughest, on-court environment in the league. Having all of the students on the floor makes it deafening. I hope they don't cave (like most schools) and put the big money donors on the floor. That's a huge advantage for you guys.
Being so close to the floor makes for some good pregame heckling.
There are two rows of big money people in front of the students. But it’s all so jam packed close to the court that it doesn’t really make a difference.
I will take my hatred for Mike Bibby and Miles Simon to the grave… though Simon was one of my favorite CBB analyst on espn back in the day so he’s grown on me.
This is so exciting to see. I know this is gonna be way tougher than the Pac-12 but I'm all for it. Finally consistent big matchups. Can't wait for conference play!
Yeah this is what I've been waiting for! The football slate has me snoozing a little, but I can't find a single game on this list that I'm not excited for. Lets get this Big 16 basketball thing goin'!
At least KU, KSU, and ISU. The environments are always tough and the fan's travel (making the games better).
I couldn't care less about CU or OSU. OSU doesn't even support the team that well when they win, or at least since Sutton's heydays.
I was at the triple OT game roughly a decade ago when they had Smart (high preseason expectations and ranked 17th or so at the time) and we were also ranked in the top 20. It was a weekday game but nothing else was going on in Stillwater.
The place was BARELY half full. After the game we stopped at a gas station and I asked the attendant what was up with the fan support. He pretty much ripped the fans for "only caring about football".
The apathy was stunning.
Man....can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kinda sad we don't do a Home and Home with KU this year. Though we lose there pretty much all the time, it's such a good gauge for how I feel about our team.
I will continue to demand that we increase the number of conference games as we increase the number of conference members!
Legit, every team plays 4 to 6 games against truly awful teams early in the season. Those games would make this a LOT more bearable.
For instance, **Iowa State** plays:
Mississippi Valley State: Nov 4
Kansas City: Nov 11
University of Indianapolis: Nov 18
Jackson State: Dec 8
Omaha: Dec 15
Morgan State: Dec 22
If you scarp those games then Houston, Baylor, OKST, WVU, Tech, and Cincy could be home and homes
And even if two of these types of games are traditional (Omaha and Kansas City maybe?) then we could remove some of them and add a couple games to the schedule over all.
Our schedule is fucking dog shit. Every fan hates it and it's hurt our seeding a number of times.
Hilton not only deserves a better tilt, but our non-con SOS would benefit greatly by playing more teams with a pulse. Clobbering stiffs in the 250-330 range kills your SOS ranking. There is absolutely no incentive for Otz and Pollard to do this. The fans don't want it, it doesn't make the team better, and it hurts our SOS.
Honestly, y'all might be on the lower side of things - but *every* team has 4-6 cupcake games. We can just cut these games out and have real basketball.
Look, I’ve got gripes about the low end of our schedule too. Too many very bad teams.
But if you’re gonna mention that, mention that we play Marquette, @ Iowa and have 3 games against one of the strongest all-around Maui fields ever.
I get that you want everyone to play only strong teams, but this isn’t the pros. Teams want time to figure out what they’ve got and who plays well in what lineup. Not everyone is a known quantity in college ball like they usually are in the pros.
And it absolutely is a hit on us because UCONN pulled the same shit as we did last year and nobody batted an eye. Anytime SOS gets brought up we’re the first to be mentioned even though we played the toughest conference schedule in the country last year. We’re the only school that doesn’t get the benefit of having our conference play matter in SOS because playing against ass teams apparently outweighs dog walking Houston in a neutral site game.
Not to mention that you’ve been in every Big 12 thread today reposting the same thing about Iowa State specifically.
So, yeah, I’m pretty confident it is a hit on us because otherwise you’re just weirdly obsessed with us specifically for being an Indiana fan.
What I said was I feel like that’s the case for every team but what I mean is it **could** be the case for every team given how tough big xii road games are.
Hyped for the new conference but the loss of our home-and-home round robin is the biggest casualty of realignment.
Yeah that double round robin was incredible. Same with football when everyone played everyone once.
My 2nd flair disagrees that was the biggest casualty.
I need WSU and OSU in the Big 12 for a CFB chaos conference
Do you know how the conference tournament will work now? Will it still be 14 teams or will it be a 16 team tournament now?
I think it’s all 16 with various byes for the top half of the conference
That’s definitely ideal. Always leads to unfair rankings, especially in a competitive league. Texas Tech benefited from that last season
Yeah
Greetings new friends. Everybody has such a stacked schedule I love how legit the conference is in Basketball. Can’t wait
See you in hell Kansas.
The seat is nice and warm for you.
It's that what you call having to visit Houston?
94F with 85% humidity, feels like 109...so yeah
If we're talking about the heat? Yeah. If we're talking about everything else? Nah. Houston's fucking awesome.
Not the heat, just the humidity.
Lulz. Yeah it's brutal June->August. But October->May is the tits.
Idk, most of October also sucks there.
Dude we get Houston, KU, Arizona, TCU, and Cincinnati at home let’s goooooo
Look forward to welcoming both Arizona schools to Lubbock and the away days at Tucson and Tempe. Happy to avoid a trip to Hilton but got stuck with a game at Allen Fieldhouse
Meh, we've beat them at the Phog before, so it isn't ENTIRELY impossible
but pretty much impossible lol
No kidding 😂😭😂😭
Really excited to see Pac-12 fans' reactions to Big-12 environments this season 🔥
I'm excited to watch fans from those schools whine about how many of our fans show up in Kansas City come big xii tourney time xd
I plan on showing up to Kansas City. I can't wait!
it is super fun.....the Power & Light District is the perfect place to hang before, during, and after the games....and if you're a BBQ fan, well you're in heaven
They’re already so used to it with Arizona fans and Vegas
Makes me wonder if or when the Big 12 championship is moved to Denver eventually.
Didn’t the big 12 announce it’s staying in KC thru 2030 or something? Edit: 2031* https://www.sportstravelmagazine.com/big-12-extends-basketball-tournament-stay-in-kansas-city-brings-soccer-tournament-to-kc/#:~:text=The%20Big%2012%20men's%20and,the%202024%20and%202025%20seasons.
Vegas…
pls no
They are never going to play a tournament at altitude
not high enough, Laramie it is
Big 12 Mexico. Estadio Azteca.
It was us last year, now it’s the ex-pac schools😂
“You guys have fans?”
I can’t wait for Big 12 fans to realize the EXTREME amount of apathy PAC schools and students have towards athletics
Was really hoping for a home and home with Arizona and Kansas.
Love Cincinnati slate, wish Houston was H&H, no real complaints love Kansas & Arizona Baylor home games
Plus Xavier at home. Really good home schedule this year.
anything's better than a home slate of south florida, tulane, and tulsa
Was hoping for another home-and-home with Iowa State after how fun the games were last year, but I'm definitely happy getting 2 games against Kansas and 2 out of the 3 other Texas schools
I’d swap arizona for you guys in a heartbeat in our schedule. Those regular season games were so much fun.
Welcome to Morgantown, Arizona schools!
Toughest basketball road trip in the conference.
The mountain schools have always been a rough trip for us. Between weather, elevation, and crowd, Utah and Colorado are no fun. Guess we’ll see if we have a new destination to dread.

Disappointed
I am shocked Kansas isn't playing in Arizona.
That… and the what seems like forced home and home with byu and Texas tech.
Tbf y'all have more history with us than the Big 8 schools, at least from a games played standpoint. Y'all are 24-28 against us all time (hoping we can maintain that winning record)
Ancient fucking history…. Arizona left the border conference a year before I was born.
Very true, but the history and geographic proximity are there. Give it a couple years and y'all will hate us lol
At least we skip the old fashioned mountain trip
Really surprised we got a home and away with ISU when we might play them in Maui
There is a chance that we could play 5 times next season
thought ISU dropped out of Maui?
Dropped out for 25. Still there for the 24 tourny.
We were never invited for 25, baylor was but dropped out to go to the NIL Vegas one with us.
Love the Home slate.
I already have it penciled in as a loss. It might not be the greatest place to watch a game in terms of feel (Phog Allen). It might not overwhelm with size and fan support (KU/ISU). God damnit when is tech coming to Boulder in any sport?
As a CO Coog I’m stoked for the UH at CU game 😎
Women's basketball, literally listed in the article.
Guess I should have specified men’s. Our women’s team has been bad for so long.
it's put up or shut up time for Krista Gerlich
Houston and Arizona have to come to LBK this season, huh? Heh heh heh 😈😈
Still feels weird as hell to see Arizona schools there. KU v UofA is going to be a fun rivalry for me and my dad.
I will take my hatred for Mike Bibby and Miles Simon to the grave… though Simon was one of my favorite CBB analyst on espn back in the day so he’s grown on me.
At least ISU-KU gets the home-and-home this year. Also, Kansas seems to have a pretty favorable schedule.

I’ll get to see my friend Aziz Bandaogo twice (former Utah Valley player). Let’s gooooooo!!
I’m definitely skipping some Utah Valley WAC games for some Big 12 games (BYU and Utah) this season. The Big 12 is simply better.
I wish the Big 8 remnants had permanent home and homes and just cycled the rest through whenever. but I'll get over it.
At least KU, KSU, and ISU. The environments are always tough and the fan's travel (making the games better). I couldn't care less about CU or OSU. OSU doesn't even support the team that well when they win, or at least since Sutton's heydays.
I mean… OSU hasn’t really won since Sutton. Once they start winning again, I can about guarantee Gallagher-Iba will be an insane environment again.
I was at the triple OT game roughly a decade ago when they had Smart (high preseason expectations and ranked 17th or so at the time) and we were also ranked in the top 20. Ugh. 20 conference games. We are all going to be beat up again when the NCAA tourney starts.
15-5 Will win the conference out right
That would not surprise me.
Stop trying so hard. Just phone it in this year when the Cyclones come to Houston
LOL. Sampson's teams only know one way to play. You guys are a tough out though. Looking for to our game.
God I love this conference. Gonna be an absolute bloodbath and I get 2 of my 3 picks for a home and away series.
Dungeon’s going to be lit
Man....can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm kinda sad we don't do a Home and Home with KU this year. Though we lose there pretty much all the time, it's such a good gauge for how I feel about our team.
I'm loving that Houston, Baylor and Iowa St are home-only. Don't want to deal with them more than once 🥲
I’m quite content with the home only schedule draw. Time to exercise that ASU demon!
Some phenomenal basketball in this conference. I really wanted to see a home & away with Houston versus either TCU or UCF though
Throw out the non conference. WVU-Pitt Cincy-Xavier UCF-USF ISU-UI OSU-Tulsa KU-UNL KSU-WSU TCU-SMU BU-SMU UH-Rice UA-NAU ASU-NAU BYU-USU UU-USU CU-CSU TT-UNM 30 game conference schedule.

There’s a chance we go winless on the road good lord
Nothing wrong w stacking Quality losses. We at least avoid AFH this year.
As long as we make it to March I wouldn’t mind being a lower seed
Feel like that’s the case for every B12 team
We better not lose to either OSU or WVU on the road.
What I said was I feel like that’s the case for every team but what I mean is it **could** be the case for every team given how tough big xii road games are.
I hate this so much.
