They're confusing "war" with "limited-engagement nation-building clusterfucks where we ask the military to make an unwilling population embrace American culture and influence"
If we just wanted to *erase* Vietnam or Afghanistan, those conflicts would have been over in a few weeks.
But by that same metric, I doubt we could "win" another limited-engagement nation-building clusterfuck in Iran either. Those have a pretty poor track record.
