I've had it before. My wife has observed that about mid-inhale while asleep I'll stop breathing for around 30 seconds, then finally exhale.
Waking up the morning after feeling like I didn't get a wink of good sleep is the worst part.
Not in his bedroom. Likely at the mosque, from which the prayers are broadcast. He woke up early, got down to the mosque, and probably fell asleep waiting for 5:00am.
Nothing to apologize for, I responded because I could tell you weren’t saying what you commented out of scorn or disrespect. Comments intending disrespect do not deserve responses.
The more you know!
It’s hard, no doubt, but as an individual who wakes up daily at 4:30 AM for work (that’s before prayer time) I recognize that sacrifices must be made, and considering the entire concept of the call to prayer is God’s calling us to a meeting with Him, I see more sense in answering God’s call than in waking up that early for work, though both are necessary in my conception.
Peace be upon you.
It can but it could also mean both are needed to have you be conceived eg that waking up for work and the call to morning prayer were needed for your folks to have sexy times resulting in your birth.
It can be by conception can also refer to the act of a life being created. To be clear it's when the sperm fertilizes the egg and a human zygote is formed.
Yes, the month of Ramadan begins at the clear sighting of the crescent moon, and ends 29 to 30 days after which, depending on further moon sighting.
As far as the fasting day to day, you are correct, it is from dawn till sundown. We will usually wake up before dawn by an hour or a half an hour in order to fill our bellies with food and water to ease the day, that was the way of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and we go on to break our fast at sundown.
Thank you for asking and peace be upon you my dear friend.
Fair enough. Still, as someone who gets annoyed by church bells ringing at 7AM, I still feel sympathy for everyone not following these rules to a letter.
I used to have some late nights in a beach town not far from the mosque. I'd be trying to go to bed and when 5am hit and the prayer started going, all the stray dogs in the area would start howling along with it. Eventually it would all stop, but it was like an alarm clock for the roosters to wake everyone else up
It depends where you are, sunrise can be quite late.
Also speakers are a modern invention...before it would just be people who chose to be very proximal to the Masjid.
I live in a place relatively far up to the north. Up here, sunrise shifts between 4AM to 8AM throughout the year. So my mind immediately went "worst case" there.
The meaning is the essence, and the essence is beautiful regardless of the caller.
Though, I agree with you, some imams ought to revise if they’ve got the voice box for the position 😂
I mean, what's the difference between shouting and having your voice loudly forced upon everyone? I personally don't see how "shouting" is the incorrect term here. It's not shouting, it's projected loudness!
The difference is in subtle objective between the two, a call is inherently loud but specifically for the purpose of calling whereas shouting could be as you said, forcing one’s voice upon others.
I suppose then, you could say, the difference in definitions is in the intended purpose? You aren’t wrong, since calling could involve shouting, but shouting is not the essential part of the call.
What I meant to clarify to OC is that the imam is not simply shouting, but rather calling.
Also, shouting is by definition raising your voice, while the call is a melodious and beautiful announcement. The adhan is a ritual expression, a mutual alert to Muslims that it is time for the five daily prayers.
I understand how to the uneducated and uninitiated, it can seem as thought it is shouting, which is why I clarified the difference to OC.
Peace be upon you.
We are in the middle of the holly month of Ramadan. Sleeping time becomes very "subjective" and random during that period. Alarmclocks are useless, then 😄
if you're in an area where it happens everyday, you're quickly used to it
i never woke up at 5, and it wasn't due to a lack of volume, your brain just learns to ignore it
I used to live near mosques in a Muslim dominant country. After a few weeks I stopped hearing the call to prayer unless I made a conscious decision to hear it. I’d just sleep through.
The fact there is a huge microphone broadcasting prayer for everyone to be forced to join, or at the very least forced to hear is extremely eerie to me.
Correction: I said “prayers”. I should have said “from which the *call to prayer* is broadcast”.
Even for someone like me, who is not Muslim, I’ve always thought the calls to prayer are beautiful.
The dude whose task it is to announce the 5 daily prayers fell asleep with the mic on before the first prayer of the day, which occurs a little before daybreak.
Instead of saying ALLAHU ACKBAR! dude is just ripping it.
Had a guy in my last field trip that snored exactly like this. It was a small cabin lost in the woods so complete silence around. Then it happened, at first I thought it was a bear. I had to sleep with noise cancelling headphones and music put to 80%volume and I could still hear him. The next day, the poor guy had to be moved to his own cabin, half a kilometer away from the research station.
I want to make sure tho, do you know if that line is mandatory ? From my experience, not all mosques add it in their call for first prayer ... but i might be mistaken
This reminds me of a story that a (practicing, but obviously liberal Muslim) Algerian friend told me about the Ban on alcohol: Carthaginians were rolling into the Mosque Drunk, so...

Someone has sleep apnea.
sounded like an air raid. imagine hearing this early in the morning thinking you’re being invaded by another country.
[удалено]
Yeah no that's not how sleep apnea works brother.
I've had it before. My wife has observed that about mid-inhale while asleep I'll stop breathing for around 30 seconds, then finally exhale. Waking up the morning after feeling like I didn't get a wink of good sleep is the worst part.
Allahu Apneabar!
So the guy basically just have the mic in his bedroom? I couldnt hold that much power, i would be making pranks on random pedestrians daily!
Not in his bedroom. Likely at the mosque, from which the prayers are broadcast. He woke up early, got down to the mosque, and probably fell asleep waiting for 5:00am.
So he was supposed to start shouting at 5 am? Guess that brings down the price on alarmclocks in the area, but damn thats early
It’s not shouting, it’s the call to prayer, the first prayer of the day is at dawn.
Didnt mean to sound disrepectfull. I would make a lousy muslim, 5 am is just wayyy to early for my rythm

Cool man I like your post informative and thought provoking thanks
I’m happy you got some sort of benefit, whatever that may be. Stay awesome pal
"Both are necessary in my conception" I hope you mean _perspective_ otherwise you are making an entirely different comment 😂
😂😂 yep, meant perspective, I am genuinely curious though, is conception incorrect? I thought it was to say “in my created ideology or viewpoint”
It can but it could also mean both are needed to have you be conceived eg that waking up for work and the call to morning prayer were needed for your folks to have sexy times resulting in your birth.
Ah yes, I did consider it could come off in this way, I guess conception is just how the words were wording for me at the time 😂😂 Sexy times got me
Just asked ChatGPT, apparently it is correct as I intended it, in my conceptualization.
It can be by conception can also refer to the act of a life being created. To be clear it's when the sperm fertilizes the egg and a human zygote is formed.
Isn't it also the time yalls fast start right now too? Sun up to sun down right?

Not from sunrise. Fast starts at Fajr time / dawn.

Sorry, I’m not sure I understand what you mean. Can you rephrase?

As an Israeli jew, there's an Imam not far away from me I find their calls weirdly comforting
not sunrise. First prayer is at dawn.
You’re right, I corrected the original comment. Thank you so much for the correction. Peace be upon you.
Does it change daily as dawn slowly changes? Like, does the Imam watch for the sun to crest the horizon?
It's often quite beautiful in fact (except when they're off key, some imams can't sing to save their lives unfortunately)
The meaning is the essence, and the essence is beautiful regardless of the caller. Though, I agree with you, some imams ought to revise if they’ve got the voice box for the position 😂

Imamclocks

Probably the one on duty in the minaret
I keep waiting for the tri-pods to appear.
What happens if you sleep in past morning prayer?
You should pray as soon as you can once you wake up.

I don’t write the rules, I just chop the dicks.
Can confirm, had this happen to me multiple times.
Poor guy, before you lost multiple dicks, did your pants fit like a glove?
Straight to ~~jail~~ hell
Probably stoned to death. They like that one
You get stoned.
![gif](giphy|KpAPQVW9lWnWU)
Might as well toke it up...will be the last
This is amazing 😂😂
It's edited, see [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/funnyvideos/comments/n939rm/mosque_imam_snoring_with_mic_on/gxpkucs/).
That’s even better 😂😂
Like the sound of a motorcycle exhaust
Or someone revving a chainsaw.
Yeah, I hate that sound, it's so unpleasant.
I thought its a oil tanker engine xd
Well, it looks like it, too.
This is what happens when you show up too early to work to actually do work
Whats going on here?
Imams lead prayer so I assume he is supposed to be saying a prayer over the speakers in the early morning!
The dude whose task it is to announce the 5 daily prayers fell asleep with the mic on before the first prayer of the day, which occurs a little before daybreak. Instead of saying ALLAHU ACKBAR! dude is just ripping it.
I love how they’re proper giggling.
No matter your religion, this shit's funny.
Poor man 🤣😂😭🤣😂😭

Alahhhzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Oh wow noo ..poor guy! It’s really funny, but I feel bad for him too!
Imagine he just rips ass lmaooo!
Thats a prayer in sleep:)
One of the lines of the first prayer is ‘prayer is better than sleep’. Always thought they weren’t fooling anyone with that.
I want to make sure tho, do you know if that line is mandatory ? From my experience, not all mosques add it in their call for first prayer ... but i might be mistaken
Dang!!!
I think this is a sign for the man to pass the torch. He clearly isn't young anymore
Imagine living some where there are giant speakers so religion can be forced down your throat wether you want it or not.
Omg you actually can hear neighbors laughing 😂😂😂
Thankfully no farts
I am laughing sooo hard. I love this guy for this mistake. I bet people laughed so hard at him the next day.
Sounds like an a10 strafing run
What is imam?
Man on intercom doing morning prayer
Muslim priest
A person who leads the people in prayer.
What is google?
What is love?
Baby don’t hurt me
Don't hurt me, no more.
WHAT IS LOVE
No, i don't know why you're not fair🎶
Daily double!
This once useful search engine has become less popular as it's become more profit driven.
are you sure he use mic ? lmao shit was loud af
This reminds me of a story that a (practicing, but obviously liberal Muslim) Algerian friend told me about the Ban on alcohol: Carthaginians were rolling into the Mosque Drunk, so...
I really need a longer version
Normally they are on point 😊😂😇
homie's revving on all cylinders
I did not know chainsaws could be an imam
Could you imagine being a kid in bed thinking that's some monster roaring outside? ![gif](giphy|3o6wrdG8vt4X86Pauc)
Homie cutting up a whole sawmill
Bro sounds like a Stihl chainsaw
Couldn't get that chainsaw started
u/savevideobot
That fig..ikyk
Well we know every wife with an obnoxious husband slept right though that.. or was headed over to smother him with a pillow. It could go either way.
Ladies and gentlemen start your engines
Sleep was more akbar than Allah
At that hour, shouldn’t it be illegal for them to have speakers like that active?
Another example of how ridiculous religion is lol.
This is just one small side effect of taking religion too far
That's okay. I live where we have freedom.
I assume you're American due to the fact you believe that anywhere that has a different culture to you, isn't "free".
Lol you thought that joke was gonna hit
Thats cool AF 🤣
This will surely end with someone losing their head.
