Yeah. It was super even and the wax was down to where the bottom of that sticker was. I made a comment about how the candle was half the size of our toddler to my wife. I had never seen one that big.
I hear they can grow over 6 feet long
And a lot of people don't realize they can live up to 100 years. You think it's just a small commitment but they can get pretty dangerous after the first decade. Toddlers have been known to kill after age 15 or so.
If this was a citronella candle, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. God damned mosquitos this time of year. Can’t enjoy 5 minutes outside.
Edit: it’s come to my attention that citronella candles do not work. So I retract this statement. And I should know because I had a giant citronella bush and still got killed by mosquitos. I thought the concentrated oils in a candle would be more effective.
Edit2: I thought thermacell was some newfangled contraption but... it's the same thing my relatives in Asia have been using since I was a child. A little blue mat that is heated to release mysterious vapors. Basically a less harsh mosquito coil... God damn it should've bought one in Asia when I was there last year. Probably $10 vs whatever Costco is charging. Electrical too.
And Rohan will answer! Muster the Brohirrim!

Assemble the army at Dunharrow. As many kegs as can be found. You have two days. On the third, we ride for Gondor and party.
The most useful thing I've ever learned on Reddit: Thermacell.
So many people on the outdoors and camping subs swore by it, so I finally picked one up. I got the one that looks kind of like an insulated coffee mug.
Best. Thing. Ever. I even take it when travelling/staying at Airbnbs/cabins to just set nearby where I'm sitting outside. Thing has been life changing.
How long do they last though? And how much are the refills?
I’m generally outside pretty much everyday for 2-3 hours and always worry about the cost of the refills
You have to get 2 kinds of refills. Butane bottles to heat it up and then little pads that have the chemicals that deter mosquitos.
The bottle lasts 12 hrs and the pads last a good 3-4 hrs each.
You can buy a refill pack of 3 butane bottles for around $30 canadian and the pads are way cheaper like $10 for 12.
My bro is really into hiking and uses his all the time and he told me you can refill the bottles yourself using a can of butane for lighters for much cheaper though. Haven’t tried this myself I only use it when in my backyard pretty much.
No smell and no mosquitos!!!
Pads can be had cheap and last 4-8 hours depending on the heat level you put on them.
Flextail has a 10pad free/month thing going on right now, but IDK the details of it. I ordered a "Max Repeller S" from them last week and it let me add one of the "free" 10pks to my order.. for free. Note, the Tiny Repel from them gets reviewed as basically non functional but the Max and Evo repellers are bigger with more heat for the pads.
Buy an electric device. I don't think there's any benefit to butane with the newer electric ones. Nowadays it's easier to find usb power in the middle of nowhere to recharge than it would be to find butane plus you aren't burning anything (though, they do still electrically heat the pads)
Also, be careful with how you dispose of the pads. The vapors released from heating them is generally considered perfectly safe for humans and most life forms (including bees supposedly) but the pads themselves and residue left on them is bad and can be very bad for water life. Also, do not burn them, those vapors are toxic to us.
ALSO, Also... the effectiveness of thermacell like devices varies wildly with wind and location. In heavy tree coverage like I get where mosquitos are awful if I'm hiking slowly it helps, but for a run it does nothing because the mosquitos are repelled by the vapors it makes. So the more the air is stagnant basically the more effective. You can also put it upwind of you and that works.. sometimes.
Last I checked, citronella does little to nothing to repel mosquitoes.
There are natural solutions to prevent them (a certain strain of bacillus), pesticides that are pretty safe for mammals but potentially harmful to aquatic systems, attractants that run on propane, and repellants that require either DEET, or a proprietary blend of who knows and whatsits.
Citronella would be effective, but candles don't contain enough oil, nor can they effectively spread enough particles of citronella to be effective.
But I'm just a guy on the internet, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong.
Go to any major chain hardware store and look for mosquito pucks. You just fill water into a bucket, flower pot, or bird bath with one of the tablets - throw in some grass to slightly decompose (think swampy water) so the mosquitos lay their eggs. The bacteria in the pucks feeds on larvae. Poof, no mosquitoes. Each puck lasts for about a month.
I read somewhere that citronella candles really aren't that much better than any other type of regular candle when they did a study, take it with a grain of salt but really the best thing to do is have moving air that prevents the mosquitoes from reaching you
Tell your spouse Aldi has pretty spot on dupes for the Capri Blue Volcano candles once a season or so. They're actually pretty great for a fraction of the price.
Hahaha this is so relatable. Before my husband met me his only furniture was a couch, tv, a lamp and one lone orange towel that was more like an exfoliant than a towel. No tables or chairs or anything. I thought he had the home of a serial killer when we first met. Now he likes candles and soft pillows and even burns a coffee candle while he’s working.
The mixture is 90 ounces for $99.99. The average candle triple wick is 14.5 ounces with an average price of $26.95. Getting 90 ounces of the 14.5 ounces candles would cost $167. Making this giant candle a great deal saving nearly $70.
It doesn’t look that big in this pic lol

It’s a hearth candle. Voluspa sells 123 ounce ones for $225. This one looks similar but they have multiple scents.
https://preview.redd.it/pyfua0yerlbd1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2228c5f13c792b5fce6f3466be500f66005d380c
I have a hearth that isn't actually a fireplace. Just a brick alcove and a mantle in the style of a fireplace. I'm still not putting $90 worth of candle into it
Man, someone bought me a Voluspa candle once and it was the best candle ever. It was the macaron scented one and I still have the packaging for it because it was so lovely!
My husband loves comically oversized things, and loves candles. If I see it in the store I’m gonna have a hard time convincing myself to not get it. Though I think our cats would probably be reason enough.
🙋🏻♀️ yes hello, I am the target demographic for this. I will take 3 and my husband will hate me for it .
Edit: it's online!!! here is the link for my tribe - https://www.costco.com/antiga-1860-luxury-candle%2C-90oz.product.4000277953.html
yes and an alternate scent - sandalwood & bergamot. I was just so happy to see it's online, sometime things are shared here and they never come to my store, like those artichoke bags the other day. thanks for sharing OP!!!
Maybe but my BBW & Yankees are 14.5oz for $25+ regular price so by oz it is cheaper than those options. Plus this is 6x the candle for only 4x the price, so basically a steal...girl math ✨
Me now that I’ve seen it. I only went in for Kirkland white t-shirts and boneless skinless chicken thighs, but I guess this has now been added to the list
Hi my name is Regina and I am a candle addict. This is the kind of impulse purchase that I’d justify because it was at Costco. And I’d probably buy another once it’s on sale. This is also the kind of purchase that my husband would mention to his guys group chat and I’d assume one of the wives would back me up lol.
If you have cats, please don’t get this or any smelly stuff like sonic diffusers or air fresheners. Most of it is toxic, and even if it’s not it can cause respiratory issues (reed diffusers may be okay, but essentially anything else that puts smelly stuff in the air artificially is irritating your cats lungs)
"I BOUGHT THIS $90 CANDLE FROM COSTCO WATCH HOW LONG IT BURNS LIVE!!!1!!" I think youtubers and streamers would like that. And people would probably watch and tip/donate/etc.
It’s like Broadway shows-not everyone’s into them 🤣
But for real, I would purchase this. It’s a great decor piece and when I cook Indian food, it’s great to have lit to help with smells before hosting.

Sigh *puts on shoes*
Scoop me up on the way, do you have room in your car for whatever plants we leave there with?
If you guys want, leave your car at my parents and we can use my Dad’s truck. My Mom will definitely want to tag along. She needs that candle too
I just dropped $138 yesterday so my car is still full
You got out of Costco without spending $300 or more? Impressive.
That sounds like a “second trip this week” type of spend.
One time I went in to buy eggs.... and that is all I bought. Was a very proud moment for me.
Went to Costco for a gallon candle, left with a new car and European vacation
I just saw one these at a friends house two weeks ago. It was 80% burned down. So apparently them.
Ooh, did it look like it burned well? The wicks looked too small and far apart to me but I don’t have ~~much~~ any experience with gallon-size candles
Yeah. It was super even and the wax was down to where the bottom of that sticker was. I made a comment about how the candle was half the size of our toddler to my wife. I had never seen one that big.
Yes, toddlers can get pretty big
Especially if you feed them.
Thank god for Costco otherwise I couldn’t afford all the berries.
This person has a toddler.
Don't water them after dark.
Well, see, there's your mistake.
I hear they can grow over 6 feet long And a lot of people don't realize they can live up to 100 years. You think it's just a small commitment but they can get pretty dangerous after the first decade. Toddlers have been known to kill after age 15 or so.
Sounds like you want to be a person buying a $90 candle.
> I just saw one these at a friends house two weeks ago. It was 80% burned down. What was burned down....the candle or the house?
Lol this is also how I read it at first
My wife. My wife is buying that $90 candle the size of a trash can.
If this was a citronella candle, I’d buy it in a heartbeat. God damned mosquitos this time of year. Can’t enjoy 5 minutes outside. Edit: it’s come to my attention that citronella candles do not work. That’s what I was thinking - perfect for outside!
Where I live, it would just melt without even being lit if you left it outside. 🫠
So a massive citronella oil brazier? The beacon is lit! Cookout calls for aid!
Gondor is calling for BBQ!
And Rohan will answer! Muster the Brohirrim! ... Assemble the army at Dunharrow. As many kegs as can be found. You have two days. On the third, we ride for Gondor and party.
Mustard the Brohirrim
..and my axe
Necromancer looks up, "AND YOUR BROTHER!"
And the Old Toby Longbottom Leaf.
But I haven’t even had second breakfast!
Ok if you made something nerd like this that was oversized and amazing like that it would sell freakishly large amounts

>But I'm just a guy on the internet, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong. You're wrong, I'm basing this purely off the fact that you told me to do it.
That's the spirit! You're an all around good person!
those chinese black coils of incense wards mosquitos very well but they might be cancerous :' )
Citronella doesn't work. I just got a thermacell this year. It actually works.
I got a thermacell too and it's made a huge difference! My best Amazon purchase this summer!

My immediate thought. It's the one application you'd like a large pot and amount of wax so you don't have to replace it often.
Candles are expensive, you could probably buy 10 small candles for $90 or buy this which is the size of 100 candles.
10? Like 4 or 5 at Bath and Bodyworks.
Or 1 candle if you buy them from Anthropologie like my spouse.
Tell your spouse Aldi has pretty spot on dupes for the Capri Blue Volcano candles once a season or so. They're actually pretty great for a fraction of the price.
Trashcandle*
Come to me, Trashcandle!
brb showing all these comments to my husband so he knows how good he has it 😂
update: Husband read comments here and said buy one of each scent. He also said to buy a pack of 4 gallon small trash bags for when they're done.
Your husband is brilliant 🤣
$90 candle the size of a trash can sounds good next to my $75 candle the size of a small disposable coffee cup, lol. It does smell good though.
Deeeeets. What scent, where from?
Tell me more!
Probably Diptyque. Expensive, but literally the best candle you can get.
Hey hey HEY. My man has it good too okay. I might spend thousands of dollars on candles BUT I *make our HOUSE into a HoME*. That’s all that matters.
And me. I'm buying that for $90.
Yeah right? I saw this picture and was like WHATTTTT only $90? BRB GOING TO COSTCO RIGHT NOW.
Me: OMG CAN I GET THIS ON INSTACART
Was just thinking... hope my wife doesn't see this in store
I will also be buying one now that I know this exists.
I’m not sure it’s going to fit in the cabinet with the other hundred candles, though… time to build an addition I guess…
The mixture is 90 ounces for $99.99. The average candle triple wick is 14.5 ounces with an average price of $26.95. Getting 90 ounces of the 14.5 ounces candles would cost $167. Making this giant candle a great deal saving nearly $70.
This guy candles
Big candle stepping in here!
Nah this guy econs…
[удалено]
Target soy candles are $10 for 15.1 oz, so 90 oz would come out to just under $60 before any sales or red card savings.
I wonder what the burn time is, that’s the real test.
Girl math
Probably my wife. Dont show her this.
Paging /u/HamburgerGoatWife
Wanna go out some time?
Bish please
I also choose this guys wife
As soon as these get the .97 I’m buying
New price: 89.97
Exactly. This is the kind of product you sit on until it finally goes to clearance price.
It doesn’t look that big in this pic lol https://preview.redd.it/4r9bhoaeslbd1.jpeg?width=1213&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ddb7dd94b3d9eaa6d59023352bb769d5a0bbb0a0
When I walked by the display I definitely thought they were small trash cans at first 😂 it says 8.6 inches tall online
Okay so the other question is, why is it so expensive when it’s less than 9 inches tall? 😂
Lots of nice e candles cost that much. Even more.
For a “luxury” candle it’s a good price.
It’s a hearth candle. Voluspa sells 123 ounce ones for $225. This one looks similar but they have multiple scents. https://preview.redd.it/pyfua0yerlbd1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2228c5f13c792b5fce6f3466be500f66005d380c
I have this and it's almost lasted us two years. I love that thing!
You haven’t gotten sick of the scent?
No, it's heavenly.
Oh, I could see that use. I do not own a hearth, sadly
I don't think you're meant to put it in a hearth or anything, just that it's like a mini-hearth on its own
What is a hearth?
Oh... a fireplace
I have a hearth that isn't actually a fireplace. Just a brick alcove and a mantle in the style of a fireplace. I'm still not putting $90 worth of candle into it
Voluspa is worth it, I have 2 of their 3 wick candles but idk about this candle because the throw could be weak af.
Man, someone bought me a Voluspa candle once and it was the best candle ever. It was the macaron scented one and I still have the packaging for it because it was so lovely!
Oh man, Voluspa Goji Tarocco Orange is my favorite candle in the world…I didn’t know I could get it in giant size!
Omg Voluspa is one of my favorites. $225 is crazyyyy tho
Forgive my ignorance, what is a hearth candle?
Voluspa candles are so damn good, I resent you for informing me this exists LOL
My boyfriend loves candles. He would absolutely buy this ridiculous candle.
Better yet, buy it for him as a surprise! Or maybe it's time for a costco date to show him this thing. But only if he's good...
Same, I got my husband into candles and now he loves them more than me. I'm totally buying this for my husband if I see it, he'd get a kick out of it.
love that for him!!
My husband loves comically oversized things, and loves candles. If I see it in the store I’m gonna have a hard time convincing myself to not get it. Though I think our cats would probably be reason enough.
Well they are hand poured in Spain. They really know how to pour em there.
I feel like a machine would actually do a better job
Let me introduce you to my wife
I would absolutely buy this
Yeah that thing has the rad kind of excessiveness that I crave as an American consumer.
Got my mega-ultra-gulp, my super-peta-hepta fries and my 44 gallons of candle. 🇲🇾 O7
Nice flag
Murica, Fuck yeah!
Lol I am going to Costco this weekend, if I see this it will be in my cart while my husband complains!
Me too if it smells good! I hope my Costco gets them 🤞🏼
It did smell good and seemed high quality - I just have nowhere to put something that huge! I would have absolutely bought a 3-pack smaller version
Look descent on a patio. But your right, these are kinda outrageous lol
We are lucky the muffins aren’t this size
Are we? Now that is all I can think of. A six pack of trashcan candle sized muffins.
You spelled unlucky wrong
Outrageous for Walmart maybe, but right at home in Costco. They just need a bigass lighter
What about the 6 pack of bic flame lighters? They have the bendy tips in case you need to contort the lighter to reach a weird place.
Then it should be citronella or cedar scents to chase away mosquitos
I would absolutely burn a citronella candle the size of a house
Where’s the fun in a smaller version? 😘
I too am that guy's wife.
Ditto. I bet it burns for a week.
Ooooh, a "decorative vessel"
Oh this is a lot smaller than OPs pic made it look lol. Yeah I’d probably buy this 🤣
No I literally thought it was like 2 feet tall, the pic looks way bigger then 8.7in
The perspective is super confusing. But man 90-100$ is wild.
Oh interesting - the pictures of it lit show the outer glass more translucent, that looks nicer than it did in the store
yes and an alternate scent - sandalwood & bergamot. I was just so happy to see it's online, sometime things are shared here and they never come to my store, like those artichoke bags the other day. thanks for sharing OP!!!
Tbh I didn’t look that closely - they might have had the other scent in store too
It looks like both in the photo. Amber is gold and Sandalwood has silver writing on the box.
I think you’re right, good eye!
Hello fellow tribe. Thanks for this. I purchased the sandalwood version and will report back.
Husband shall be in shambles
This would be incredible on the deck. It’s practically a scented fire pit with easier cleanup.
About a dollar an ounce, I love candles but I think this is a bit over priced. Maybe you can get a second life out of it as a flower pot?
Maybe but my BBW & Yankees are 14.5oz for $25+ regular price so by oz it is cheaper than those options. Plus this is 6x the candle for only 4x the price, so basically a steal...girl math ✨
I usually pick up massive candles from places like tj Maxx or Ross. Super cheap and good brands.
It is a blown glass 'container' so it would be a beautiful vase. I love that smokey translucent dark glass.
It’s “hand poured”. I don’t know why that’s even a thing anyone cares about but clearly it’s a lot of money to do it that way.
People in this thread have candle budgets that I’ve never imagined.
>Food $200 >Data $150 >Rent $800 >Candles $3,600 >Utility $150 >someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my family is dying
Idk man, maybe switch to rice and beans for a while?
Don’t go to the luxury candle sub lol it’s wild over there
Let me introduce you to r/luxurycandles.
The people in this thread aghast with a giant $90 candle would have an aneurysm when they find out how much a 3" Diptyque candle costs lmao
People in Texas prepping for the next big freeze stocking up on giant bucket size candles and terra cotta pots after seeing videos on TikTok…
My kids have friends over and they always seem to drop mega deuces here; rather than walking back home for a few minutes. I would welcome this.
Is that considered proper etiquette? It would never occur to me that the children should’ve left to poop and come back
Proper etiquette? No. Polite to not nuke and irradiate your friend’s bathroom? Yes.
Get a fart fan, turn it on and shut the door. Problem solved.
A shocking number of people don't realise how effective that is.
Or light a match
Window technology is superior to hobocan fire candle.
All you need is a just one regular match to burn and the smell is gone. No need for a candle.
… in the candle? Ok, I’m no longer interested…
Haha, if it works for you, great! My bathrooms are too tiny for this monster
Can yoy replace the trashcan with it?
you need poo-pourri.
I would buy this if my warehouse gets it. I might order it online.
I am wife. I want it. Edit: never mind it’s smaller than it looks here! I want a one that Oscar could live in.
https://preview.redd.it/0w2vjhcbulbd1.jpeg?width=316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=316b411de833f98cbaf02d9579cd2b68134a95a9

Costco always has things you never knew you needed!
Me so we can have a party!!!
Hi my name is Regina and I am a candle addict. This is the kind of impulse purchase that I’d justify because it was at Costco. And I’d probably buy another once it’s on sale. If you're in Houston you could read by candle light as you wait for the power to come back on. Enough candle for a whole series.
Banana for scale, please.
I like these 👀
The same crowd that went nuts over Stanley Cups and Uggs
Idk my husband is an Army Vet and he would love this thing. I'm hoping I can find him one now.
Why buy much candle when big candle do good?
I would buy a candle that size, but I would not pay that much money for it.
I absolutely would if I had $90 to burn.
That’s dirt cheap. Candles a 20th of that size are over 10 dollars
"I BOUGHT THIS $90 CANDLE FROM COSTCO WATCH HOW LONG IT BURNS LIVE!!!1!!" I think youtubers and streamers would like that. And people would probably watch and tip/donate/etc.
I love that the 3 pack of reading glasses is $17 and the candle is $90. I think that says a lot.
Please take this post down beforey wife goes to buy a couple. 😎
Lol. Just posted the same thing
Jesus, I hope my wife doesn’t see this…
Fancy preppers?
lol, my bomb shelter will only smell like the finest vanilla and amber from Spain ☺️
Put a hot plate over it and cook dinner on it.
It’s like Broadway shows-not everyone’s into them 🤣 But for real, I would purchase this. It’s a great decor piece and when I cook Indian food, it’s great to have lit to help with smells before hosting.
I wonder if it would melt right
If this has Oud as a scent I'd absolutely buy this for my home
Probably the live laugh love crowd. Perchance.
Does it scare away mosquitoes? I would use that.
