2001, but Huckleberry by Toby Keith is a nice soft song… it was always one of my dads favorite songs when I was growing up so it holds a higher spot on my list than it probably should
My now 20 year old son would only sleep as a baby if Whiskey Lullaby was playing. I burned a cd of just that song and drove around for hours on end practically every day.
It’s a funny story now but I almost went mad at the time😂
Leaving On A Jet Plane was the one my parents used to sing to me.
Also Grandma's Feather Bed, but that might be a bit too high energy for what OP is after!
For some reason my son says no to I Cross My Heart! Probably just a weird toddler thing. Haha. It’s still on the playlist because I’m sure he’ll change his mind. He loves George.
Lullaby by The Chicks, Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Welcome To Earth by Sturgill Simpson, Lord Build Me a Cabin by Hank Williams Sr, Deeper Than the Holler by Randy Travis and strangely enough my son has always been completely enamored with Neon Moon by Brooks & Dunn 😂
Great suggestions, thank you! I don’t blame him. I, too, am enamored with Neon Moon and still get chills when I hear it. Kix & Ronnie had a one of a kind harmony that I doubt we’ll ever hear again.
Our girls love Kacey Musgraves All is Found from the Frozen Soundtrack.
Our oldest also that KM’s version of Three Little Birds was the original … oops.
I know this isn't what you asked, but if you haven't checked out Rockabye Baby! music, you'll find some country songs on there. It's popular music turned into lullabies and it's lovely. We had the Eagles Rockabye CD when my kids were babies and they still have some of the songs downloaded on their sleep playlists on Amazon. I know they have Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Blake Shelton for country. Probably lots more.

Obscure pick but Leo Kottke’s “Twilight Property” is a pretty sleep inducing instrumental with some beautiful steel guitar. There’s also Chet Atkins’ “Over the Rainbow.” I think the album version is a touch fast but my wife’s mother used to sing her “Mamas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys.”
My kids got short version of "You are my Sunshine", full version of Proud Mary (the Lynyrd Skynyd version) and full version of Rambling Man by the Allman Brothers. It was the only songs I could remember all the lyrics to in the middle of the nights.
You have Good Ole Boys Like Me, but Don Williams has such a soothing voice, lots of his songs fit. Yellow Moon, Wrong End of the Rainbow, Crying Eyes, Maybe That’s All It Takes, One Good Well, Atta Way To Go, Reason To Be, We’re All the Way.
This one may be a bit too much with the lyrics for his playlist, but I’m glad you mentioned it because I hadn’t heard it before. Thank you! I need to give Sturgill more listens than I do.

Multiple generations of my family were rocked to sleep by either my grandma or great grandma singing Fraulein. The song was originally Bobby Helms I believe, but many have covered it.
What about Cross My Heart-George Strait, I could not ask for more- Sara Evans, ? Not a country song but my neice use to calm down to Iris from the goo goo dolls.
I’ve only ever had to put one baby to sleep once in my life, and I did it by singing “I Still Miss Someone” by Johnny Cash.
Great song. Thank you! Yeah I’ll add some Cash for sure.
Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Thank you! Good one.
Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) - The Chicks (formerly of Dixie)
I’ve always loved this song but after having our son I can’t listen without tearing up!
I was actually thinking about their song Lullaby!
I was thinking of Lullaby!
Thank you! I may add their cover of Landslide too.
Waylon Jennings - Amanda
Yes! Thank you!
2001, but Huckleberry by Toby Keith is a nice soft song… it was always one of my dads favorite songs when I was growing up so it holds a higher spot on my list than it probably should
I hadn’t heard this one actually! Thank you.
My now 20 year old son would only sleep as a baby if Whiskey Lullaby was playing. I burned a cd of just that song and drove around for hours on end practically every day. It’s a funny story now but I almost went mad at the time😂
Pretty dark lullaby lol
😂 right?! We still joke about the only song that could lull him to sleep was one about 2 people drinking themselves to death
That’s how mine was with Blue Bayou! Whiskey Lullaby is such a lovely song, but it always makes me so sad. I can’t imagine hearing it 10x a day.
Not really country, but I used to sing Annie’s Song by John Denver to my girls when they were babies. Usually helped calm them down to sleep.
Add sunshine on my shoulders and follow me if John Denver does the trick.
Leaving On A Jet Plane was the one my parents used to sing to me. Also Grandma's Feather Bed, but that might be a bit too high energy for what OP is after!
Thank you! Good ones.
Oh good suggestion, thank you! John Denver is great.
Goodnight Moon - Jack Ingram Oklahoma Sky - Miranda Lambert Down The Road - Kenny Chesney
Thank you!
I grew up to my mom singing "You Are My Sunshine" as a lullaby, just leaving out the sad lyrics

I sang Forever and Ever by Randy Travis to my daughters. It must have penetrated pretty deeply into their psyche, because they both love the song.
Such a great song! I have his version of Peace In The Valley on my list too.
The whole B side of waylon’s Dreaming my Dreams but the title track and She’s Looking Good in particular.
Yes I for sure need to add more Waylon. Thank you!
Baby your baby and I cross my heart by george. They put me to sleep as a baby
For some reason my son says no to I Cross My Heart! Probably just a weird toddler thing. Haha. It’s still on the playlist because I’m sure he’ll change his mind. He loves George.
You mentioned When You Say Nothing At All, I would recommend most everything else off of the Don't Close Your Eyes album from Whitley
Love the irony of the album title
It is such a shame we lost KW so early. He easily would’ve had the fame of Alan Jackson, perhaps even King George…

Ahh Field of Diamonds is such a classic. Thank you!
I would sing it to my daughter when she was a baby. It works so well as a lullaby

Thank you!
Literally in the name Whisky Lullaby
I do love this song! Just such sad lyrics.
I would sing Wagon Wheel to my son while rocking him. It was mostly the main chorus over & over & over ha
That’s so sweet! It’s a great tune.
Thank you! Yeah, Mamas would be a good one to sing just myself.
My kids got short version of "You are my Sunshine", full version of Proud Mary (the Lynyrd Skynyd version) and full version of Rambling Man by the Allman Brothers. It was the only songs I could remember all the lyrics to in the middle of the nights.

This one may be a bit too much with the lyrics for his playlist, but I’m glad you mentioned it because I hadn’t heard it before. Thank you! I need to give Sturgill more listens than I do.
He's done a ton of different styles, every album is a little different. You'll find something you'll love for sure!

you're the one by Shania Twain, Mom used to sing me to sleep with that
Good idea! Thank you. I loved Shania. Saw her in concert in 2001 or 2002. She was great!
What about Cross My Heart-George Strait, I could not ask for more- Sara Evans, ? Not a country song but my neice use to calm down to Iris from the goo goo dolls.
Thank you! We have that GS song, I’ll add the other two. I had forgotten about Iris. That’s a good one.
