Hippos don't swim in water. Yeah I know right? They sink to the bottom of the body of water they're in and they run on the floor and push up when they want to get up. It's far more terrifying than them swimming. Check out a YouTube clip of it.
Slightly off topic, but I was walking to 7/11 late one night and swear i heard a MASSIVE animal in the sewers beside me. On the way home, i mostly forgot. Then suddenly, a several hundred kg Tapir jumped out of the bushes right in front of me and sprinted away. Those things act like bulls sometimes.

Im just making a random jab at the pitbull community out there. Its dramatic to see a hippo wandering a suburban street. Definitely scary! But the reality is we have 10,000+ pitbulls ready to hop a fence and peal the face off a toddler in Springfield USA, any given day of the year. People drive by them and dont even notice. In contrast, if someone sees a hippo in suburbia the public runs for the door to hide. Beware of the devil that hides in plain sight aka pitbulls.

People are afraid of hippos and they know they should be avoided because they are malicious killers when you approach them. Hippos dont live next door, you dont have 3-10 hippos on your walk as you push your baby in a stroller.
Pitbulls are everywhere. They are at the rest stop, outside the gas station, in your back yard, outside the school in the playground. Pitbulls appear docile and cute and sweet until they bite your cheek or throat and dont let go even when beaten with a pipe or stabbed with a steak knife. They attack you unprovoked even if you are a grandma in a wheelchair that was the caretaker of the pitbull. Pitbulls are the murderer that every NRA nut is paranoid about. Pitbulls dont require abuse and starvation to make them a dangerous animal, they are inherently a dangerous animal despite loving guardians. Its not debatable. It is a predictable statistic that is reported by police, emergency medical professionals, and news reports. You dont need more support than that. Hospital records detail dog breeds.
The same professionals that report hippo attacks report pitbull attacks. Why is one animal accepted as dangerous and the other is considered a danger only by product of a theoretical bad guardian?
