Aaoa … not sure, I’ve never lived in an apartment, only rented houses..
I really don’t know how to check anything else, and I usually never read the letters that are sent…
So let's get this straight, you're here asking how to get approved for a card, when YOU DON'T EVEN READ THE LETTERS THEY SEND YOU TELLING YOU EXACTLY WHY YOU DIDN'T GET THE CARD. Let that sink in. We can't read the letters for you.
It’s
Literally been like a year since I have applied for one. I just tried again today and got denied, so I will read the letter when it arrives this time.
The little harshness aside, they aren't wrong. You will know soon enough exact why you were rejected. Based on what you stated there's no obvious reason but they will tell you.
1). Create a myFico account and check your scores there.
2). Request your free annual credit report, and check for incorrect information.
3). Apply for a secured card to get the ball rolling.
Yes. I believe the Chime Credit Builder card is an installment loan / secured card like Self.
You need to get started with a regular bank like Discover or Capital One.
Do you have any credit cards to your name? Being an authorized user for someone else's credit card doesn't count in most cases. If not, you might want to go with a starter credit card. Check Capital One's or Discover's preapproval tools to see your options
I only have a chime credit builder card, nothing else, and not on anyone’s authorized cards or anything.
And checking on myfico it shows I owe 800 in collections for something, not sure what it is, and it says something about no recent mortgage loans, well ya, I don’t have a need for mortgage, I just want to find a card that I can start with like a 200$ credit line and work my way up
Ah, that 800 in collections will do it. If your score is in the 700s, that debt might be years old, but it may still impact your odds until it falls off completely
You might want to stick to preapproval tools to see what's available to you for now. At worst, you'll just have to wait for derogatory marks on your credit report to fall off
Do you know where that debt is from? Delinquent accounts are often sold to debt collection agencies. Some of them offer pay to delete to remove negative marks on your report. Check which agency has that debt and call them to ask
So either someone stole your identity (got your ssn and info off the dark web) or someone stole your identity (family member or close friend stabbed you behind your back)
When you get accepted or denied I think they show your credit score. Also they look at income too and current limits you have.
Credit score is very often misleading, we need the details of your credit profile. !template

I'm guessing you're getting denied because they think you can't read.
Start reading, because that answers your question

Is chime credit a secure card? That is what I’ve been using for the past few years
Yes. I believe the Chime Credit Builder card is an installment loan / secured card like Self. You need to get started with a regular bank like Discover or Capital One.
Chime is a scam sometimes
So far my credit score went from 540 to 740 in the past few years
Great! The few times it works! Also if your score is 640 you aren’t going to be approved for the card though
That was supposed to say 740, not 640
I didn’t proof read
This is a vantage score or a FICO score?
Fico
Ok then just wait for the letter and post about it when it comes and we can help you
Credit score is not the same as good credif.

You need to find out what the collection item is. That's almost certainly why you're getting denied.

Is there any way to have it removed or pay it off? Because I have never had a bad bank account or credit card
Do you know where that debt is from? Delinquent accounts are often sold to debt collection agencies. Some of them offer pay to delete to remove negative marks on your report. Check which agency has that debt and call them to ask
That $800 in collections is a huge red flag. It's your problem, and I'm surprised your score shows as high as it does.
After doing some looking around apparently I have a chase account I know nothing about
So either someone stole your identity (got your ssn and info off the dark web) or someone stole your identity (family member or close friend stabbed you behind your back)
Wouldn’t doubt if it’s my ex wife, I’m going to call chase Monday when they are open
