I'm pretty sure it's just a rumor. That kind of rumor would spread pretty easily over TikTok. I've heard the company is strict about employees taking home excess cookies at the end of the day, let alone giving them out to the homeless or friends. Any store that gave them out to customers would get in big trouble since customers could just come at closing instead of spending money.

[deleted]

Someone's post went viral and TikTok about it.

Bklynibb

They don’t let the employees keep the cookies, let alone give them to customers

SpiteChickens7

Right? We're lucky if we even get our end of shift cookie some days...if we want a popular one we're supposed to save it for the customers unless there's a ton of them.

Wonderful-Reach-297

That sucks. Why not let them eat the cookies if you're just gonna throw em out :/

cynicalsalads

We are allowed to take them home at my store. It seems to depend on the franchise.

Wonderful-Reach-297

I'm jealous

hannahlove2018

I bet something is going around in TikTok or something. That’s usually where these dumb things start and then it makes life hard for everyone else.

You_Calm_Down

It's a viral tik tok video. I got so far behind tonight because I was running to the phone every 5 minutes to answer this fucking question. Then they started showing up around close to ask in person. I had teenagers rattling my doors while we were trying to clean up. They were banging on the windows asking about free cookies.

Sudden-Ad8408

YES! me and my coworker were so confused trying to figure out wtf was going on cause i’ve worked at crumbl for 2 years i’ve never given out a free cookie at night. my store donates all our cookies the next day.

Ok-Regular-4188

I just started hanging up the call as soon as i heard the first part of the question. 🙄 it’s an absolute no

DreamCatcherIndica

[This person](https://www.facebook.com/share/r/e4jeeoR9Y4gBfG2c/?mibextid=0VwfS7) made a video that's going viral

Goody3333

This man ruined it for himself too. I doubt that store would give him anything free anymore.

Maleficent-Ad9010

He looked exactly how I expected him to look. Punchable face.

masdulce

A tiktoker goes to different restaurants to see if they give their leftovers for free at the end of the day and he just made a video for crumbl. I’m pretty sure his videos are staged tho but everyone believes it.

gtownsweet

it's completely ymmv. used to work at a mall and some places would give away the food if the clerk was a nice person.

hannahliz1064

YES!! I thought it was a prank for a while. I was kinda sour to the 20th caller who happened to call right at 10. I felt bad afterwards when I realized it was just a bunch of people following a TikTok trend. It was really frustrating to keep answering the same question all day.

Sudden-Ad8408

same I didn’t even let a girl finish her question I just said no half way through and hung up 😂😂

MinervaMinkk

At a general bakery or coffee shop, it's not uncommon to get extras from staff that don't want to throw it away. Yesterday, I ordered a baked matcha and a mixed berry donut. They asked if I just wanted all of them. About 5 because they were closing. It was 6. I didn't even know they were closed that early. But I wouldn't go around saying the coffee shop gave free donuts at night. That would just guarantee that the coffee shop would start throwing food away and wasting it instead of taking the opportunity to avoid food waste

SaltySpitoonReg

Well the key difference there being that those things are usually offered to people who have come in as a paying customer. Lol, Not just people walking off the street hoping for free food.

ADV91395

We got over 30 calls today on my shift like pls guys it’s not true 😩

Snail_milk

YESSS!!! We were SLAMMED and it was pushing me towards my breaking point. At least 5 a hour

Chipmunk-Sea

Dude it's been so bad I HATE GETTING CALLS EVERY 2 MINUTES ABOUT IT

RelevantDragonfly216

I think you need to start answering the phone “thank you for calling Crumbl, we do not give away free cookies, how can I help you today” 🫠

marinatedbeefcube

I’ve seen this posted on Facebook and tiktok where they “give away the rest of the cookies on Saturday nights” because they’re all closed on Sundays to prepare for the next week’s batch. Some of them seemed convincing tbf

oharabk

It likely started with this man’s post - https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8uGqoepk_1/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Technicolor_Reindeer

If you count dumpster diving, maybe lol

Bay_Foxy

Yep, it’s a video on TikTok trending I saw the other day. Life hack! 🤣

lovelypingu

When I worked there we gave some away to last-minute doordash/uber eats deliverers but not sure how it is now lol

Mission_Front184

I work at Chick-Fil-A, and like. I don't know if we're supposed to do this, but I buy a sandwhich, fresh, and we trade out the for one free cookie at MY location. BUT! You have to have proof you work at Chick-Fil-A. AKA. Nametag AND attire.

Chemical_mistake2

OMG yes this has been happening so much at my store 😭it sucks too cuz I’m a night shift lead so they be hitting hard

GreatRecipeCollctr29

It's a hoax.

4448SpiritDriven8444

It’s a stupid tik tok hack. People are annoying. They’re making up lies on social media to gain likes and attention and the poor workers are suffering from the consequences; of these sh*tfluencers stupidity.

Formal_Awareness_711

It was a video on Tic Toc showing the store giving away left over cookies

Desperate-Love3963

It a video on ig

WatercressSubject717

Maybe tik tok but I don’t have it so I can’t verify.

airb_629

My friend just sent me this video this morning! She told me to go too. Smh 🤦🏾‍♀️ I wasn’t going to but that’s crazy!

Taekwondobra

If there were leftovers, it should be donated to those that need it, soup kitchen, local church or something of the sort at least. (If there’s left overs after the employees 1 cookie thing)  I know some other corporate brands arrange for that

Sudden-Ad8408

yep that’s exactly what we do at my store

jakesteed4201

I wrote it in the bathroom stall sorry! 🤷

kraftbox16

I saw an insta reel about it earlier today lol

jWeR616

It’s not really something that happens. However on Saturday nights when we have a fully stocked warmer we tend to give away a few extras for free just because it’s so wasteful to trash them at the end of the night

xdaddysprincess

I saw a video recently talking about how crumbl cookies are on an app called too good to go that sells food products for a discount

Physical-Goose1338

They aren’t on that app.

xdaddysprincess

https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTN2CEh7E/ This is a video, it was posted a week ago. There's also a reddit post from 8 days ago that's been deleted but in the comments multiple people say they've seen crumbl on too good to go on their area. 1 comment said it's under the 'new' category on the too good to go app. So it's probably a new thing they're testing out only in some cities. Not sure why I'm getting down voted lol

Several-Two-7173

When corporate finds out it will no longer be a thing lol

xdaddysprincess

Lol probably. I think it's only in major cities right now, the girl from the video said she's in Chicago area. I downloaded the app and there was only 1 thing (krispy kreme) in my area (Columbus, Ohio) on the app. There were hundreds of places in NYC though, I think crumbl being on there is probably limited to NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, possibly houston and that's most likely it. I wish more places would participate, I was really surprised and disappointed krispy kreme (only 1 location) was the only thing in the whole Columbus area

Several-Two-7173

I work at a crumbl in nyc and we don’t do it. We’re technically not allowed to by corporate

xdaddysprincess

Hmm maybe just in Chicago then! That's where the girl in the video said she got them

Physical-Goose1338

Oof ya that’s definitely franchise owners doing that - which they’ll likely get in trouble for doing. Crumbl itself doesn’t do it. You can tell if a full-on company has a deal with the app because they’ll be verified.

xdaddysprincess

Yeah that definitely makes sense but even if it's franchise owners, it's still on there in some cities right now. I'd definitely buy a box if it was near me! Hopefully some other people get to score some cheaper cookies!

Taekwondobra

It’s a viral video on Instagram Reels with 6 million views (posted 24hrs ago) and shows him calling the store, getting confirmation, shows him going into the store and even getting 18 cookies for free.  It makes sense no? Employees can’t have a ton, can’t resell old cookies… why wouldn’t you be able to give them out 5 mins before closing?

Sudden-Ad8408

most stores donate their cookies to people who sign up. and usually in the last hour we don’t bake a lot so there isn’t much to be given out anyways. if we gave out cookies 5 min before close no one would buy any they would just come at night to get them for free lmao

[deleted]

no we’re not allowed to do that. they either get tossed or go to donations.
