-The pointed tips of the leaves were taken to represent the Holy Lance.
-The tendrils represent the whips used in the flagellation of Christ.
-The ten petals and sepals represent the ten faithful apostles (excluding St. Peter the denier and Judas Iscariot the betrayer).
-The flower's radial filaments, which can number more than a hundred and vary from flower to flower, represent the crown of thorns.
-The chalice-shaped ovary with its receptacle represents the Holy Grail.
-The 3 stigmas represent 3 nails and the 5 anthers below them 5 hammers or 5 wounds (four by the nails and one by the lance).
-The blue and white colors of many species' flowers represent Heaven and Purity.
-In addition, the flower keeps open three days, symbolising the three years' ministry.

A fun meme for y'all
[*"Domino Effect". A slightly balding person with brown hair is poised to tip over a tiny domino, which is lined up with several dominoes of increasing size. The tiny domino is labeled "The Crucifixion of Jesus", and the largest domino is a Discord message from Auderox that simply reads "Pog".*]

Pog as slang comes from the twitch emote, taken from a video with pogs in them. What is a pog? A small cap from a juice drink that is traded and used in games by 90s kids. The juice drink was called POG, short for passion fruit orange guava. Passion fruit was named after its flower, the passion flower. Passion flowers were called "flower of the five wounds" in Portuguese, eventually being translated to passion fruit by the English in reference to the passion of Jesus, aka his last moments alive before being crucified.

Alright I have to say, if you're going to go back to the Crucifixion of Jesus there's a lot more ways that it caused the word Pog to exist. English language would be different in more ways than just that. It would probably be mostly unrecognizable, given the many historical events important to the modern form of English that wouldn't happen.
Well we can do another one. No crucifixion of Jesus means the Norman Conquest of England never happens means the words grape and orange likely don't enter English in the same form. I mean French as a language might not even exist and that's where English got them from. Thus changing the spelling and making the acronym impossible.
Passionfruit comes from the spanish/portuguese passiflora, orange comes from Sanskrit, and grape is a Germanic word. So no, I don't think you can say the initials POG wouldnt exist.
Hey guys, I’m bored. But this post is inspiring me to start a holy war among the less popular gods. Apollo/ Zeus/ Xenu/ Marvin from accounting. Who’s with me?! Tomorrow we march? Maybe. Or we don’t! Definitely one or the other!
nope the original PogChamp emote on twitch (which is now a velociraptor for… somewhat complex reasons) is apparently from a video of two dudes playing Pogs against each other
It’s cause pogchamp dude is actually terrible and so Twitch tried to have a lot of different pogs but then people started harassing the streamers they were of, so... Twitch did Twitch things?
The komodo dragon (not a velicoraptor) picture which is now PogChamp had also been used as a standard twitch emote called KomodoHype. When the whole PogChamp controversy began, some started to use it instead. Then after the rotation of PogChamp faces it landed on the KomodoHype picture and stayed that way.
[“play of the game” is a folk etymology](https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/pog#English). It doesn't even make sense...
In reality, *pogchamp* came from “Pogs championship” where [*Pogs* is the name of the game](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_caps_(game))

Like peanut butter? Well now you can like more of it. Sunflowers have been used to create a substitute for peanut butter, known as sunbutter.

Yes but in this case there's a direct and clear connection between those two things.

I'm not an expert, but I don't think that's as clear a connection.

I choose the Mesoamerican gods plus the cool half of the Egyptian pantheon
What’s that like Ra and those other dudes? Bobby, Frank.
I thought it was Play of the Game

Yeah same
that's where it got it's current meaning, but not where it originated from
Pog lore
This is the best use of this meme I’ve ever seen
They could have done to elaborate on the flower of the five wounds to passion flower thing
Five wounds jesus received during the crucifixion. One on each wrist, one on each foot, then the piercing from Longinus.
Thank
Auderox should probably be crucified for using discord in light mode
No, light mode is based😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
I am an old and don’t use Twitch. what does “pog” mean in this context?
It's normally used as an interjection when the speaker sees something they are excited or happy about.
Pog stands for passion of gesus
Well... No. POG comes from P Of the Game iirc?
Nope. The pogchamp face comes from a video of a guy playing pogs called "Pog Championship."
Nope. Pog is short for Play Of the Game
Nope, that was a later backronym.
[удалено]
The original [video](https://youtu.be/g9TNY75jhcs) is way older than pog being used as play of the game (I'm assuming you're refering to overwatch?)
Not overwatch, I'd just heard the definition thrown around a lot, this is the first time I've heard anything different
[удалено]
Damn I was trying to be funny while also explaining that I have no clue what you're saying. Don't have to be mean about it
Yeah, and you came off as a flippant asshole, so I don't blame them for snapping back.
I'm pretty sure the emote did *not* come from Pogs.
Doesn’t poggers come from “play of the game” being shortened to POG?
Nope. The pogchamp face comes from a video of a guy playing pogs called "Pog Championship."
I believe you.
Pog
I thought pog meant Play Of the Game
