Last updated March 2023. Some of the cars had been recovered, one was totaled and one ended up in Alabama. As of March 2023.
Unless spotted by police on their way to the drop off there’s a very low chance these vehicles have been found and the thieves were caught.
Vehicle choppers and crime rings shipping them internationally have been nearly untouchable for decades and there is no sign of things improving.
Investigators just move on and let it be handled by insurance.
Those systems are likely not even set up for floor models. They can easily be reset by simply disconnecting the battery.
Most of these tracking systems need to be registered with the manufacturer to actually operate.
Dosent matter police are not gonna go after this unless they see them on the road. It's a low priority crime. No one injured and as others have said insurance.
I had a cop tell me that when my car was stolen, basically said they're not going to do anything. Then they asked if I wanted to make a report and I said I don't have that kind of insurance. They told me I should still fill out a report as the crime numbers are how they get more funding.
Im honestly shocked to hear that even one was found. I worked at a Toyota/Lexus plant and we had about 14 vehicles be driven right out the gate and lost forever in a 4mo span. And an additional 6 be stolen over the course of the next year. None of which were ever found or tracked.
Granted these were 10000% and inside job because the thieves knew to only take the vehicles from the Guadalajara shipment section which have their GPS systems intentionally disabled.
People can do some crazy things by just wearing a hi-vis vest.

I dont go often, yet when I pull up to drive thru, employees ask for my order before it’s even possible for me to see the menu, then get frustrated I can’t spout off my order for a family of 4.
Could be a former employee or one of the many outside vendors who come to the dealer every day to do whatever (paintless dent, wheel repair, tint, bumper touch up, interior repair, glass repair, etc.).
If they know where key box is and if it’s easily opened (or always broken like half of them are) they can tell their people.
Some dealers are also shit with security. One Porsche dealer I worked at had all of the keys in a wooden box with a Home Depot grade padlock screwed into it for “security”. The door right next to the box was broken and could be opened with a hard pull. The location was basically a ghost town at night so you likely could have emptied the entire front and back lot with no one having a clue until morning.
Technically they don't need the keys, you can get what's basically a master key for modern vehicles that's only supposed to be sold to licensed technicians, but ofc they don't always stay in the hands of licensed technicians
Not really. Anyone thats worked in a dealership at all knows they keep all the keys in one spot. Drive to a different city, see if they keep the cabinet locked. If its not a big city with a bunch of crime they probably don't even lock it. Even if they do its never a good one (unless you live in a big city with a shit load of crime, they might have a fancy one.) Know the stock numbers of the cars you wanna steal beforehand (its on their website) so you don't have to look too hard for the keys in the cabinet, bring a pry bar if the cabinet has a dumb little lock on it, have a truck to smash one of the showroom doors out with 4 doors to carry your fellow theif friends to the location, you're gold. Even if they just took em somewhere and stole the wheels they made a few grand easy. But id wager they know someone who's paying them for the cars. The fake plates means they got a drive to make. They'll strip em, take the shells somewhere and burn them, and then sell the parts at a much later date, or just a different part of the country altogether. These guys are good at this shit.
I had my truck stolen back in the 90's in Miami. What a lot of them do is strip the car and leave it out on the street in the city. The car gets recovered and insurance gets paid out. Then the insurance company auctions off the carcass of the car. The car theives show up at the auction, buy the carcass with a salvage title. Then they bring it home and use the parts they stole to put the car back together. Presto! Now you have a new hellcat and a title!
This is thinking outside the box. Real professional criminals that don't ever have their mug shit on the news are so intriguing. It's like a weird mix of giant balls, meticulous planning, and top of the percentiles intelligence. I will probably die while still working hard at my ass job, like literally while at work, and that's ok because I'm not in this mixture, but I can respect it. And for everyone who is about to say, 'Their just criminals, lock em up.' Or, 'Maybe they should just get a job.' I understand that viewpoint, and maybe you're right. That's what I did. But I'll end with a few words: Insurance companies. Politicians. No-bid contracts. Injury claim lawyers. I could go on. How do we feel about these groups? Just saying.
This sounds like the plot from H.B. Halicki's Gone in 60 Seconds movie from 1974. The first 15 minutes shows them doing this exact same thing to a Dodge Challenger. The movie is worth watching if you have never seen it before. The chase scene is 40 minutes long.
Don't bother with Nicholas Cage's remake from 2000. That movie just sucks. Stick with the original.
not this isn't that hard to accomplish. I could do this myself with just one car but. I have no clue what I'd do after and I would most likely get caught. I use my expertise for bad guys.
Sometimes you have about 60 seconds give or take to disable the alarm. Then it goes off. Then they either call and or send the police. So if they truly did steal it in 45 seconds or less. Plenty of time before the alarm company even gets notified.
Used to install alarms, the fastest response time I’ve seen is around 3-5 minutes after the alarm activates. Most places have 30-60 second delays if you enter an entry door. Pretty realistic to have 5 minutes without disabling anything.
Most cities were 30-120 minutes though. Especially if you don’t have confirmation of a break in. There are tons of false alarms, so the police response varies based on how seriously they consider the alarm.
It's really all security theater I'm not saying it for sure wasn't I just don't think it's that open and shut of a case.
Doesn't take a mastermind to do this even this quickly. Source I've worked in the car industry for about 10 years now more towards the tech side of things.
Dude it was obviously Nicholas cage. He’s been hard at work on this sequel “Gone in 45 seconds”. It doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, but that’s the price we pay for efficiency.
My favorite one is face off. Co-documentarian John Travolta and Nic, show the dark side of science and the lengths people will go to further the development of plastic surgeries. Truly inspirational if me
A dude smoking a cigarette in a dodge caravan angrily pulled out from behind me and passed me while giving me the finger today. He didn't like that I was going the posted speed limit in a residential area, and he promptly beat me to a red light that I sat behind him at for about a minute. Bravo, Mr. Dodge on a marvellous demonstration of alpha male power in a stereotypical soccer mom vehicle.
I was deliberately rear ended on a bicycle at 40mph by an unreasonable Dodge Charger driver with a mullet some years ago. I went flying over the hood and my bike ended up wedged under the front of his car.
Single lane road approaching a red light at a trisection I live at and he passed on a solid yellow line into oncoming traffic. I know those lights, and they're extra long because of an additional lane of traffic. The dude was in a hurry to get nowhere, and I fully let him.
I've known 2 people who purchased Scat Packs. Both vehicle ended up totaled within a year and both drivers went straight back to the dealership to get replacements. Like, come on, y'all, thank your lucky stars that you walked away from the accident and get something reasonable.
For those asking questions:
A badly written article but it appears to outline what happened - https://www.motor1.com/news/656274/watch-six-dodge-challenger-hellcats-stolen-from-dealer/amp/
- the keys were in the vehicles' ignition
- the dealer believes that someone with inside information might be involved
- as of March 1, the police recovered five of the six Hellcats. One ran out of gas and was by the side of the road. Authorities found two others in Kentucky. A car was in Tennessee, and another was in Alabama. The cops believed the missing car was also in Alabama
A lot of places have a car [key safe that works a lot like a cash register.](https://www.southwestsolutions.com/divisions/automotive/automotive-office-solutions/fleet-key-management/) Think of it as a locked drawer that just needs a password to open. A lot of places are lazy and use 1 password. Or, maybe they genuinely stole a password.
When I was a CNA in hospitals they had a massive theft problem. What had happened was they would get new trays that could be locked with drugs and syringes and the like. They generally never changed it from the default code, and by then you could look up on the internet and find out what that was. Crazy times.
Every dealer I’ve worked at does not set an alarm, and if the key box was a joke like one of those cheap staples boxes. And the 2nd key was usually in the unlocked finance office
I wonder if someone who works at that dealership with access to car keys, took the keys to those cars from the dealership, and gave them to the thieves?
Good. Fuck car dealerships. If you have a significant problem with a new car you gotta deal with the manufacturer anyway. Why are we still dealing with these thieving middlemen?
I used to work at a dealer in Ohio and once a salesman and his friend managed to steal 3 cars all the way into Mexico before management took inventory to notice them missing. The cars were still traced though so surely these guys aren’t getting away with it unless they scrap parts. If an insider was involved the machine holding the keys will show who checked them out, plus cameras everywhere.
Dodge (and other makers) know they have fatal flaws allowing for theft yet they don’t really care to fix it. Aftermarket software is out there and available that allows people to reprogram a new key simply by accessing the OBD2 port. There are other ways as well, but dodge hellcats are really that simple. It’s not even hard to find the software.
Any follow up? Or did they just ride off into the sunset with 6 bright ass cars?
News article from a year ago says the cops found them joy riding. High speed chase and caught one driver. They found four other cars in subsequent weeks around the southern US.
Imagine if Nicholas Cage just decided to joy ride Elanor….. 👀👀
Yeah, but he had to protect his family.
they couldve search for a buyer from the middle east and put those in ISO containers
Could’ve taken the engines out and scrapped the rest of the POS

Won't they have tracking devices on them?
Those systems are likely not even set up for floor models. They can easily be reset by simply disconnecting the battery. Most of these tracking systems need to be registered with the manufacturer to actually operate.
I mean dealerships should just throw AirTags in the trunk
Dosent matter police are not gonna go after this unless they see them on the road. It's a low priority crime. No one injured and as others have said insurance.

they will ship them over sea and sell it there.
What ship are they boarding close to Kentucky?
You can drive them into a conex, set it on a trailer, haul to a port of your choice, on a ship, away it goes
Who do I need to ask at the docks?
Ask for „the Greek“
Jimmy the Greek, to be exact
You ever hear about loading up cars in a container?
Idk, but probably a port in Louisville or something. You can have shipping done on rivers and trains too, not just ocean freight.
Video is old. They ran out of gas believe it or not

Anything is faster than a drive thru order these days. Chic-fil-a, the longest wait, but granted pretty good sheet!
my local chic is fast as hell, even with long lines
Fast af lol
Ours here is Wendy's. It gets faster when people in front of you gets tired of waiting.
That’s funny because it’s true.
In-n-out would like to have a word
When in Rome, or on the West coast 🤤🤤🤤
Your chic fil a sounds ghetto. Usually in and out in no time
Ghetto? Problem with the one near me is the line goes out the parking lot and into the street. For a fucking mediocre chicken sandwich…
I've only eaten there a couple times because the drive-thru line is always so long, I start thinking it might be a cult...
I like going to chic fil a, seeing the cars, go inside place and receive my order, then go to my car seeing the same cars still there.
[удалено]
It might be, but god do I miss is. I can't afford it these day but I definitely crave it. Don't care what you say, it's damn good stuff!
The only drive through I’ve been in to get my order and still have to wait in line for the person in front of me to get there order. Terrible system.
The long wait is so you have time to rethink your life before the bigotry sets in.

Mc Donald's near me if great. Even a long line you're through in 5 min
God I love that place
Ive never been to a chick fil a
Definitely an inside job
As the video shows, no doubt. Those cars were inside.
Tiles really gave it away.
But what if they pulled an Ocean's 11 and recreated the dealership somewhere else and this is just a recording? 🤔
They actually stole the cars at a separate time. It’s just that no one noticed
I still feel pretty strongly this was inside
Dang it!
Although the angle of the camera might confuse perspective so we shouldn't rule this out as an outside job
Floor models at that.
Some of it appears to be outside though.
Absolutely. Probably not someone who works there currently though. As far as what I’ve read every time this happens.
Could be a former employee or one of the many outside vendors who come to the dealer every day to do whatever (paintless dent, wheel repair, tint, bumper touch up, interior repair, glass repair, etc.). source?
“I mean, if i was the sorta guy that did that sorta thing. I’m not, of course. That sorta guy. Just saying if i was.“
They way they knew how to exit indicts the way they got inside in the first place.

Yeah it's almost as if they could go get a job at a garage or dealership, right?

Big market for Hellcats in the Middle East. They’re probably in shipping containers on the way to Saudi Arabia.
Another plausible scenario. Either way, these dudes are the grunts, and there's a buyer with bigger plans for em most likely.
not this isn't that hard to accomplish. I could do this myself with just one car but. I have no clue what I'd do after and I would most likely get caught. I use my expertise for bad guys.

"Stolen" aka somebody there has keys to the damn cars and set the whole thing up. Inside job for sure.
Only 50% inside job… 3 look to be outside.
Probably....most likely but I wonder if an electronics attack happened or maybe they cloned the key fob codes while "browsing" one day.
Also very likely. Having worked in that space this tends to be my go-to opinion though.
Even better than Gone In 60 seconds
Definitely 15 seconds faster by my math.

I can’t seem to think of the movie title… Something like Quick & Angry… Hasty & Enraged?
You are thinking of [Car Go Fast 42](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/001/735/989/5de.jpg)
Speedy & Pissed is the movie title.
Those are great, but it would be next level if there was some alliteration involved
What fucking dumbass leaves the ignition fuse in their most highly sought after, expensive cars?

Good. Fuck car dealerships. If you have a significant problem with a new car you gotta deal with the manufacturer anyway. Why are we still dealing with these thieving middlemen?
Brazen!!! 🤣
I count 3?
This some Nicholas cage type heist.
Gone in less than 60 seconds? Nicolas Cage in shambles!
Raymond Calitri must of put an order out for Hellcats
Were the keys left inside the cars? Nick cage has nothing on these cats.
